-
Thank's Compass,
Im already learning from you! I had a similar hunt just yesterday; but without the gold!😂 I will try the Gold 2 mode on my next fresh water hunt! Nice finds!👍👍
-
Welcome back George,
Glad to have you experience here! I actually found your "first" post a few minutes ago! Keep up the info and finds!👍👍
-
Hello Jay,
Great area you live in! Bring on the finds!👍👍
-
I guess my next purchase should be a mini-sub with arms, to hold my detector and scoop! Than ill be safe from all threats! ( 🎶...Yellow Submarine...🎶,)🤣👍👍

Sorry Steve,
I ment "depth" in a more generic term than i may have stated! I get that the AQ is a more "focused detector" than other PI's before it! I understand that there is more to detecting than "raw depth" onto itself! Hence the intent to split into several specific models! You've done the "dig everything" routine, and are acutely aware of where you would like to focus!
I, myself have never used a PI, and am considering weather my beach detecting would warrant the expense to purchase the AQ, or another more generic "dig it all" PI! I still love finding coins, as well as jewelry, and other metal targets; especially on the Treasure Coast! The AQ is shaping up to be an awesome addition to a stable of PI's, but I'll probably only be able to make that "one" purchase into that realm, for a long time forward! So i am just a student, for the time being!👍👍

Thanks Steve,
That has to be one of the clearest layman explanations I've seen on PI's!
So what do you think is going to be the "Special Sauce" for the AQ to be deeper than your previous PI experiences?? If any?? Other than what you've stated previously!👍👍

My wife's not that lucky!😂👍👍

Hello all,
I was able to get out for a few hours hunt today! I charged up the 800 last night , and needed to test it! After the Er 41 error i had, and posted about, a few days ago at the beach!
Steve's Lake Tahoe Hunt yesterday with the AQ inspired me to search my childhood memories for a place where i could fresh water hunt near home! Not an easy task here in South Florida, beleve it or not!! There are tons of freshwater canals! But very few lake's that weren't for some modern housing development drainage basin in the last 20-30 years! And they weren't ever ment to be used for recreation! Let alone anything with a beach that had any history of use! And yes, there are still quite a few alligators 🐊 around to be mindful of!! So "head on a swivel" is a must! Among other hazards!
So i drove by some of the spots i could remember from years ago! Two of the three that came to mind were closed off!! It wasn't looking good! The last one was just right, with few people nearby! So i gave it a shot!
I didn't come to the realization that i had never detected fresh water before, until i was swinging the detector in it!🤯 So i spent the next two and half hours enjoying the experience! What a nice change it was, not getting pummeled by the surf of the beaches! I've got to find more places now, I'm hooked!
I would have liked to end my adventure with a nice piece of gold or silver jewelry! But that wasn't the case this time out!! I found many bottle caps of various stages of decomposition! And a respectable amount of clad and zincons!
But wait!! The story ain't over yet!! Generally, I'm not in the habit of looking at my finds very good when I'm hunting, i just seperate the trash from the treasure, and clean and sort later! Especially when i am alone, and there are eyes on me!👁👁 I had vaguely noticed that one of my "treasures" was odd sized! Bigger than a quarter, and smaller than the 69' Kennedy that i found at the beginning of the year! It was "coin" sized and solidly encrusted, so in with the coins it went! Along with a few other encrusted smaller coins! I can generally tell, with salt water encrusted coins, what they are! But i was in new territory with these few! My time was up, so i headed home!
I did my usual dumping and sorting of the pouch contents, on my tailgate for a gross decon! Then off for a soak, cleaning, and examination! The "odd" coin was giving me a hard time, so i had to soak longer than the rest! I just figured it was some odd alloy, or some kind of blank that was probably trash! But i was still careful! The persistance paid off, and although it was badly corroded, and very thin! Enough details surfaced to identify it!
It was a "bucket lister" for me, even though it's pretty much worthless monetarily!!👍👍
And now the unveiling:
1935 Walking Liberty Half Dollar!!
😵 In Sad condition!! 😩

I want more!!!😄👍👍

Great to have you here phd_angle!
There's not much to add to Bashes and GB's response! You can check Steve's thread, "Best Detector Values Under $500" if you haven't already! Depending on what and wear you want to hunt; this forum will help you decide on detectors, pinpointers, digging tools, pouches, etc... But as they said, knockoffs are trouble, so be sure to use legit venders!
Other than that, ask lots of questions, and look through the many answers on the forum!! We have all been where you are at some point! The big advantage you now have is the tremendous knowledge base on this site! This may be your greatest tool!
And don't forget to keep us posted!!👍👍

I'm going to mess with it in morning! I will charge and see if the Er 41 is repeatable! But more than likely, i will still box it up for a trip home! It's not like I've been killing it at the beach lately anyway!👍👍

Welcome bigbob,
Looking forward to some more info👍👍

Good Luck Tomorrow Steve!💍👑📿

Unfortunately, all people who visit; and live near the beaches in Florida, and some other State's, are increasingly suffering this problem! There are two sides! Owners have rights as well! But my view, and many other's, is if beach renurshment is paid for by All Taxpayer's and the State, than they (the visitors) are overwhelmingly paying the majority of this burden! And are entitled to access these same areas! Not just the beachfront owners who are getting basically "free" sand in front of their houses and condos, and then excluding those who paid for it to be placed there!
A perfect example of this is a condo just North of Lake Worth Beach, in Palm Beach County, which had been fighting over this for years, and got their way! "Their Beach" is roped off down to the High Tide line! And now, with Covid 19, nearly every condo and hotel nearby has done the same thing! Legal or not, who knows! But it's been done in any case!😞 👍👍

Hey kac,
I've had my share of run-in's with several "people" and "authorities" over the years here in South Florida! Generally i just let them vent, and continue what i was doing! If they insist, and threaten to call the police, i tell them to "go right ahead" I'll be around if they need me! That usually shuts them down! Nothing's ever come of it so far! But i keep well within my rights, and have a lawyer on speed dial, if all else fails!😂👍👍
(Good read, by the way!)

I was out for a beach hunt this morning for about two hours! Hunted mainly the wet sand! On the return trip back down the beach, i switched to the upper dry sand!
Nothing i haven't done before!
After about ten minutes, i got an Err 41 and the unit shut off! Tried to turn on several times, and the error code would repeat and shut off! Did full reset a few times, but same thing!
I still had two bars on the battery, so i didn't think it was a power problem! I thought maybe an overheat problem in the coil or control head! Went back to the surf to cool the coil off! And kept the control head in my shadow as i walked back down the beach to the stairs (about 8 minutes)! Tried turning the unit back on, and presto! It was working again! I detected another 5 or so minutes without any more issues!
OK all, any ideas for the issue! And what is Err 41?? I can't find a reference!
Thanks!!👍👍

Erik, i have a question,
If it's Magnetic Island, how do your ATM and Credit cards still work??😂🤣👍👍

Yeah, i too, just posted on another thread about the lack of beach finds!!😞 But i won't miss paper money or pennies when they are gone! Although, it is nice to find wind blown cash, hung up in the seaoats, at the beach! I am a true "money launderer" now with the cash! But hey, if you need a used e-cigarette, i seem to be finding those on a regular basis now! 😂 👍👍
