Have you tried pitch?
lve watched paystreaks videos on YouTube he’s done with 100% blacksand with pitch mode. Worked great! Other modes like diving or 4 tones may have issues. -
Garrett axiom waterproof?

I don’t have an 11” coil. They are not available for sale separately until at least October….
I am not going to buy another Deus 2 with an 11” coil just so I can make this test or any other appear to be more equal.
What aspect of this testing would have been improved if my Deus 2 was using an 11” coil?
Maybe I missed something that you noticed.
The only slight differences between the three detectors were Deus 2 was a little harder to ground balance and Deus 2 didn’t see as many targets as the other two detectors during the sweep of the gridded area. I stated in the write-up that most of the targets that made up that difference were shallower than the flagged targets.
I don’t think the 11” coil would have made ground balancing any easier in that highly mineralized dirt and the 9” coil had ample depth. I thought the Deus 2 did great.
Thanks jeff
I’m surprised the D2 picked up only 31 targets in your test. Do you see any difference in performance after updates.

Good write up.
The test should have been done with the D2 using the 11 inch coil.

I will help ya out man. Take a road trip to Stockton. Look up Victory Park. Hit sidewalk strips in the area. I always hit the dead grass/ dirt ones. It's city property, but don't be silly, and dig someone's flowers, lol. Don't know what type detector or experience you have, but all the parks within a mile or 2 of the crosstown are good..but trashy, and some are dangerous. If you present yourself like easy prey, don't go to them. Also, all this applies to early morning...wouldn't go past about 9 or so. Good luck
I remember a park in the rough part of Stockton some of us used to call, Wino Cap Park. Many old seated, barbers were pulled out of the ground with rusted bottle caps. I would never hunt there when dark.

Just watched a video by Paystreak. He's dropping down the audio response to shut up the EMI. I don't understand the correlation there, either.
I also see he's doing the frequency scan while holding the coil up in the air. I've always understood you're supposed to do it while holding the coil just above the ground. Which is it?
God, that guy says 20 words for every 2 he actually needs to say 🙄
I’ve watched paystreaks videos on the Deus2 and I think the D2 worked fine at his home before he did updates after version 6. He kept complaining he didn’t like the updates. He also hunts too fast and goes over the same ground digging up what he missed.

Hm. How would that affect EMI though? It's just going to chop it up more.
Got that info off another deus forum who had the same issue.

I’ve had my WS6 headphones not go on automatically only once.
Everything else is all good. I’m still running version 6. Don’t plan on updating. -

Can someone tell me how they find places to metal detect for old relics such as coins? Like specific websites, maps, etc.
There are no free answers.
You will have to do some research yourself or find a buddy who metal detects.

If it were a counterfeit die why would they cut off the stamp part of the die? Wouldn’t it be easier to just toss it out.
The U.S. mint would cut off the die stamp and destroy it. Yes maybe this one slipped by.The US mint sells dies without the stamp they would cut that off and sell the rest of the die to the public.

Yep the photo is backwards, but it looks like a V-Nickel that was mounted in a pendant or keychain. It looks like it was smashed or run over by a heavy vehicle by the damage on the face.
No not backwards.

How big is it and maybe you might want to take another picture of it next to a quarter.
What ever it is it looks to be plated.
It’s a bit wider than a V nickel.
I don’t think it’s plated.

I’ve been using pitch square tones in beach program for turf hunting. Notch and bottle caps at zero, Magnetic ground on accept and salt on 7 or lower. Works well more stable in bad ground. Better than park program.

A newer model will not replace Equinox, but will be a higher priced different model. Equinox will be around for quite a long time still. And Equinox too low priced? Really? That's a complaint? Maybe more like priced like they ought to be, instead of sky high. I remember when paying over $1000 for a metal detector would have been considered insanity, and metal detectors has been a rare electronic technology where prices have been driven higher, mainly due to lack of real competition versus Minelab.
I didn’t say it was a complaint. It was a smart marketing move by Minelab to get their machine into the hands of new users. They could have sold them for $1400.

The Minelab equinox too low priced. They sold thousands of them to hook users to the brand. I bet when minelab releases their newer model it wouldn’t be at a cheap price.

I remembered one thing about the Deus 2 I would suggest 9 inch coil users to try. I mentioned it somewhere in another post on this site, but it bears repeating.
Remove your velcro arm strap and try swinging it without. I don't remember in which video I first saw somebody using their Deus 2 without the strap, but once I got mine I didn't put the strap on it and haven't missed it. In fact, I find it much more convenient and quick to use without the strap. No more need to slide my arm out of the cuff and no more bunching up of my long sleeved shirts. Time saved equals more targets dug in the long run.
A very underrated way to use the Deus 2 and I highly recommend at least trying it. Your experience may vary with a bigger and heavier 11 inch coil.
I like the strap it’s easier to pick up the detector when it’s on the ground. Clothing bunching up is the only issue during the cold months.

Nice looking find, I see that there is a lot of history there.
When I know what the area looks like I try the areas where there were plenty of horse hitches. When people got on and off the horses they tend to drop a few coins. Should you find a couple of stables give them a try also.
Good luck on your next outing.
Thanks for the tip.
The only open area to hunt is the grassy turf area. The dry mineralized ground has lowered the visual ID to the mid 80s on the barber dime should be high 80s -90 on the Deus2. Targets getting slim.-

This grassy area has given up many Barber dimes and now add another to the collection.😀1908s Barber Dime. 6 inches deep, ID 85-86, park program on the Deus2. Glad it wasn’t a pesky Rosie I’ve only dug up 2 of them at this area and only silver coin from the 40s was a Mercury Dime.
Ground was soft a month ago now it’s hard diggin and temperature today was around 93 degrees I quit after 2 and a half hours. Gonna have to get out a little earlier.
Bottom pic is where some of the silver coins may have come from.

I hunt parks, beach and water so I need a coil that’s going to get me the most depth so I chose the 11 inch coil. I feel I’ll be going backwards if I chose the 9 inch.

Commonwealthdetector,
I have a friend that’s a dealer and he said the same thing about the environmental damage. I took a 92s and a 76cc dime to him to give me a value on them. That’s when I found out these guys so worried about rubbing the dirt off were just fooling themselves. The coins already damaged from being in the ground a hundred years or more. Rubbing the dirt off isn’t really going to make much if any difference at all. I did also find an 01s barber last year.
We don’t get to choose what we’re gonna find so congratulations on a key barber dime! Awesome find!!
HH!! Tom
If coin has environmental damage and still have good detail rubbing off dirt isn’t going to hurt but if you rub too hard it may leave deep scratch lines on the surface.
