Nice looking find, I see that there is a lot of history there.

When I know what the area looks like I try the areas where there were plenty of horse hitches. When people got on and off the horses they tend to drop a few coins. Should you find a couple of stables give them a try also.

Good luck on your next outing.

    Thanks for the tip.
The only open area to hunt is the grassy turf area.  The dry mineralized ground has lowered the visual ID to the mid 80s on the barber dime should be high 80s -90 on the Deus2.  Targets getting slim.

  2. This grassy area has given up many Barber dimes and now add another to the collection.😀1908s Barber Dime.  6 inches deep, ID 85-86, park program on the Deus2.  Glad it wasn’t a pesky Rosie I’ve only dug up 2 of them at this area and only silver coin from the 40s was a Mercury Dime.

Ground was soft a month ago now it’s hard diggin and temperature today was around 93 degrees  I quit after 2 and a half hours.  Gonna have to get out a little earlier.
Bottom pic is where some of the silver coins may have come from.

    Commonwealthdetector,

I have a friend that’s a dealer and he said the same thing about the environmental damage. I took a 92s and a 76cc dime to him to give me a value on them. That’s when I found out these guys so worried about rubbing the dirt off were  just fooling themselves. The coins already damaged from being in the ground a hundred years or more. Rubbing the dirt off isn’t really going to make much if any difference at all. I did also find an 01s barber last year.

We don’t get to choose what we’re gonna find so congratulations on a key barber dime! Awesome find!!

If coin has environmental damage and still have good detail rubbing off dirt isn’t going to hurt but if you rub too hard it  may leave deep scratch lines on the surface.

    I assume Deep HC ?

#12 Beach P program.  I’ve been using this program the past 4 outings on the turf 17 hours total.    3 hours using relic program at the woodsville settlement dug up a few pistol balls there.  Never did any updates.

Standing Liberty and Barbers, except for the V nickel have eluded me as well so far. Got a Walker and two seateds after a year of hunting. Most odd is I have never dug a silver Roosevelt dime. 🤔 I've dug more Spanish silver than anything in the 18/1900s.  Nice coin! 👍

You’ll find a barber or standing liberty quarter soon.
I hate them pesky Rosies prefer something older.   I’ve only dug up 2 rosies at the patch of grass I’ve been hunting for over 10 years.

That’s an interesting series of ID#s. Is this indicative of where older silver dimes will fall or because it was on edge?

My 1887s seated dime I’d 88-90.   The barber dime was 81-83-88.  I believe it was on edge because of the lower numbers. Ground here in central California is bad ground I.d. is 92.

     Very nice! 👍
Barbers of any kind are so RARE in my parts, and Seated forget it! I just got news of a street tear up coming up next month in a mid 1800s area. Hoping to I’ll find some Barbers & Seated.

    CONGRATS!

    Aaron

That’s exciting news.  You may also find a gold or bust coin.

  8. Hit the grassy area for 5 hours on Sunday tried hard to find another gold nugget didn’t happen but manage to dig up a 1900 barber dime.  I’d 82-83-88 one way and 81-82 the other.  I believe the coin was on edge 4-5 inches deep one of the reasons I bought the D2. Barber coin not corroded like many this one is just worn down from use.

Dang, he’s going to have to go way back to the drawing board. You guys are asking for everything to change but the name, lol. I only have three suggestions .

    1. change the tones.

    2. change the warranty length along with the depth rating and waterproofing.

    3. updatable

I  don’t like the name. Tarsacci too close to the brand Gucci.   Isn’t the double CC spelled in the word tarsacci on the detector the same as Gucci.   Isn’t that a trademark for Gucci.

  10. More pics.
after examining the nugget and comparing it to others the same size the nugget looks more like it was  dropped by a miner resting under a tree on their way home.
I estimate it is worth $300-$400 for this 5 gram nugget.

Wow, what a nice find, in a park of all places.  I TRY to find nuggets like that frequently out on my hikes here in CA, and here you do it without even trying!  Time to find yourself a nice gold chain to wear that nugget on with pride!  Good luck.

I don’t wear jewelry so I’ll put it in my display of finds.

Perfect I bet you were a little surprised. Do you remember what the VID was on that nugget?

    strick

Nugget ID 66 on the D2.
Yes I was surprised.   I expected coins or jewelry but not a gold nugget.  I used beach sens program with square and pitch tones, salt on 7.     Park program seems a bit weak.

  13. Hit the grassy area this morning in hopes  of finding another seated dime didn’t happen but did find a 5.1 gram gold nugget a little smaller than a dime. No discoloration it came out of the ground looking like in the pic.
ID at 66 on the D2 at 6 inches deep.  Also dug up a wheatie and. V- Nickel.
