  1. Here's mine. Other's may have had a different experience...
  2. Thanks for the review, it looks like Sammy approves! I'll just ad that Steve G is teaming up with RCDIGS to bring us a model that screws right into Steve's Deus 2 shaft. He just posted it on his FB page, check it out. It looks like it will be available in L, R, & Straight options plus have the ability to run the antenna wire through the remote holder.
  3. I like that even better, I'll give that a try, thanks.
  4. This won’t be a concern to many, however something I wanted to make my fellow D2 water hunters aware of. I typically don’t use my remote’s speaker but wanted to do a little testing with it this fall, and it didn’t work. If you put your ear right up to it and turned the volume right up, you could just faintly hear it. I do use the red plug so I tried blowing on it to try and reset it, as outlined in the manual, but to no avail. I ended up sending it in for repair and the diagnosis was iron/black sand jamming up the speaker. I almost exclusively hunt fresh water and my remote is submerged probably 75% of the time. I’ve never considered the beaches I hunt to be high in black sand but you do see it on occasion and if you find something magnetic or have magnets in your scoop, they will be covered in black ‘filings’ over time. Much of the time the beaches I hunt are a clay sand mix and often I have to break it up by hand so that typically puts my remote in close proximity to the sediment cloud. I’ve been trying to think of the best way to prevent this. It might mean using a floating sifter more often, but even then there’s a large sediment cloud in the water. What I’m going to try (picture) is a piece of waterproof tape across the grill of the speaker blocking off all but two holes on the top and two holes on the bottom (some are dummy holes). That should greatly reduce the water exchange to that compartment. I don’t want to block off the entire grill because water will find a way to get in and won’t drain out. Another thought was a ‘decoy’ magnet mounted near the speaker grill? Does anyone have any other ideas?
  5. I do mostly fresh water for gold rings and my go to is General, Pitch Tones, Reactivity 2, Audio Response 5, with a notch from the point of discrimination to 28. I listen for those smooth, full target responses. Every beach is a little different so I adjust accordingly. I've found lots of small gold rings using that notch but if you want the micro gold you may want to skip the notch. Good luck!
  6. I gave it a try when I was out hunting and I feel like it probably was actually High Square. It was hard for me to tell for sure though because you can't just toggle back and forth with one button press to compare. Thanks for documenting it Chase.
  7. Got yourself a ripper there, congrats! Nice high K color.
  8. Looks sharp, but I'll probably pass. I'm not sure if it's trying to solve a problem that isn't there? I find the 9" coil swings pretty nice in the water, even with the coil mount not centered. One thing I really like about the 9" coil is that it fits nicely down the hole left by my 720i. That lets me get a better read on a deep target to know whether to keep digging or move on. This cover looks like it adds 1" - 1.5" of diameter to the coil which might hamper hole work. I wonder if it seals to the coil any better than the stock cover to keep sediment from between the coil and cover?
  9. Yes they do, CPT. I just have to do a little shuffling around in the audio menu to get there. At least it says High Square, very hard to audibly tell if it actually is High Square with all the EMI in my garage. I'm going out for a hunt tonight so maybe I'll try it out in the wild.
  10. Yes, I had some GGA's plugged in while I did it.
  11. Yes, I understand Square is supposed to be the only audio for the bonephone output, but what I'm saying is if I change the output source from bonephones to one of the others, then select High Square, then go back to the bonephone output, it stays in High Square and that's the only audio you are able to select,...no Square.
  12. Here's an audio glitch I noticed with v1.1; When I select the bone phone output, only Square audio available. Now if I go into options and select the wired phone or wireless output, all three audio options become available. If I select High Square, then go back to the bonephone output, the High Square audio is there and is the only audio available. No Square. I go into options again and select the wired phone or wireless output, all three audio options are there again. If I select PWM, then go back to the bonephone output, it changes to Square and that is the only audio available.
  13. My clock still isn't functioning correctly with either V1.0 or V1.1. It seems to work ok for a day or two then goes out by a lot. Being this was a well known issue, and it wasn't addressed in the recent update(s), makes me wonder if it's more than a software issue?
  14. Update. The WS6 drained down overnight and shut off by morning. I recharged it during the day and when I got home I turned on my remote first, selected the wireless phone option and got the message to hold down the (-) on the WS6. I held it down for a good 8-10 seconds until it indicated it was successfully paired, and it then operated correctly as slave. It turns off and on with the remote now and functions as it should. I'm not sure exactly what I did to cause it to lock up but it appears to be resolved.
  15. Hmm,...so this was after updating to V1.0 as well? I assumed the same as you, that it meant the power/- button on the WS6
  16. The update of both the remote and WS6 were successful. I typically don't use the WS6 so it was in master and I was trying to pair it with the remote. I think it's paired with the 9" coil which I have sitting here. I also tried taking it out to the garage to get it out of range of everything but no luck. As I said I've rarely used it so it may have nothing to do with the update. I guess at this point I'll wait for it to power down and give it another try before I call XP. Maybe go back to .71 then reinstall 1.0 Thanks for the ideas.
  17. I did the V1.0 update on my remote and WS6 this morning and now the WS6 is locked up on the Freq Shift screen. I can't shut it off or change the screen no matter which button I use. I tried the holding the + & - together as well. Does anybody have any ideas?
  18. On the new Gray Ghost Amphibian II's for the Deus II there is no cup mounted volume control. Those old volume controls were nothing but a liability and I removed and by-passed any I had. In these new ones there isn't really much inside to go wrong, as you can see in the picture, and they are advertised as "100% waterproof and totally submersible to a maximum of 200 feet" with a 2 year warranty. There's still ice on the water in my neck of the woods for another couple weeks or I'd flood them and test them out for you.
  19. Before there was a good waterproof wired headphone option available for the D2, I connected a set of older Gray Ghost Amphibians (for Garrett) to the wired headphone output (1 & 2) I found them just loud enough for wading with the volume maxed at 9. I tested them with a sound meter app on my phone and they peaked at 85db in pitch, volume level 9 using a 6g 10K band. Probably not highly accurate, but ballpark. I also tried them in Pitch/PWM but the Square audio was more appealing to my ear. Now I currently use the Gray Ghost Amphibian II's for Deus II (bone phone output 4 & 5) and the volume is crazy loud, I seldom go past volume 6 wading. I haven't tried them underwater but I could see them working well just because of how loud they are. IMHO go with the bone phone output 4 & 5, especially if you're diving with them.
  20. Yup, that's one fine looking ring you got there, congrats!
  21. For me this was a great demonstration of the iron co-mingled target down averaging characteristic of the current D2 version. I haven't done much work in iron yet but hope to this year. I hunt mostly fresh water and pretty much solely by audio. I like using a low notch of 7-28 but was concerned that with an iron, down averaged, good target of 7, or 8 that I'd be blocking the audio on the good target with the notch, but after watching this video it doesn't appear to be the case. The v0.71 software will still report the audio of the good target, and the down averaged TID is just a result of the way the software is trying to provide a stable TID. Thanks Loren Lemcke!
  22. That was my creation originally, but I like your changes. I often found myself referring back to the manual to reference the factory settings. I'll think I'll move my settings over and use your version! 👍 Thanks for sharing
  23. Great hunt and thanks for your program review!
  24. A question for anyone using the Tony Eisenhower headphones on their D2; Do they use the bone phone output like the GG Amphibians, or the wired headphone output? I'm currently using the Gray Ghost Amphibian II's and love them, but because they use the bone phone output you're limited to square audio. Just wondering if the Eisenhower's used the regular wired phone output so you had your choice of PWM or Square? I was thinking it would be nice if the new update for the D2 added PWM to the bone phone output but I think that's probably unlikely.
