Boy that place kills the silver and copper..... Paper thin, some of them. But that gold never thins out 😄 Nice scores!

    Thank you!

It sure does kill the silver. From North to South (of me) in the Bay I can just about tell where everyone hunts just by the conditions of the silver coins. Further North the coins are just a little black, the ones further south can be crusty and paper thin paper thin. Old sterling rings just crumble. 🤕

The AQ "Bay Fantom" strikes again!🦸‍♂️🥇

Joe, it's really getting tough on us, to be creative in saying "Great Job" all the time!!🤣👍👍

    Thank You!

It's been a long while since I used the "AQ" so I had to renew my faith........... so I will be using it more now that I have plenty of time. About 30 minutes into this hunt I was thinking... Maybe I should go back to the car and get the Excalibur for I was getting no faint signals. But then I moved a little further down the beach and then the place came alive with deep targets. So I have to keep reminding myself.. this machine will find the gold, just be patient.

Congrats on the nice finds Joe. Your not out there by your self?

    El

Thanks Elbert! Yes, alone but I have a inflatable life jacket with a ACR Coast Guard Rescue Beacon Unit....... Cost me a good bit but my GF said she would rest easier if I wore it.. So to keep the peace with family I now have one.

Great finds Joe.  You have that Yoda thing going with this machine just like the Xcal buddy.  What coils working best for you?

Thanks Dew!  I still don't feel as confident with the "AQ" as I do the xcal but this hunt really helped renew what I had forgot since I've not been out hunting much the last few months. I think the last time I used the AQ was around the first of July, it got gold then also. But I feel the excalibur was the best machine when my out time was short, now I'm back to fulltime Pirate it's going to be out a lot more.

Only been out twice with this coil but if you see my settings I can really push the "AQ" to the limits. SO I've used four different "AQ" coils now and this one seems to be the best?. Air testing this one, and the two bigger coils there is only one inch lost...in depth. And this one swings much easier thru the water with 99.9 percent, no falsing. So more time out in rougher conditions are needed.

My Christmas dreams were of the AQ or Nokta SMF as I primarily hunt wet sand not underwater. But these 2 are putting on the classic jerk show. Last year the guy from MDT came out to do a demo for 2 friends on a highly mineralized , trashy beach that I hunt often. This guy couldn't dial it in for some reason. My friends said there is no way they would buy 1 because of this. Oh well....guess I'm still stuck with my DF. May have to get another Nox , idk. Let us know what you get.

Sad is all has went silent from Fisher on the AQ.. I think you would do really good with it, being your a hardcore PI hunter. That being said, I know of a couple hard core (PI) hunters who had them and sold them. So we can only hope Fisher can come clean and say.. it is coming and don't be waiting for it...... or at least say we no longer see a future for the AQ.

  3. Good luck on your new venture! Many like the MDT but you dive so I am not sure how well it could handle submerged....

I am very happy with what I have, The Excalibur and AQ, and I don't see me ever changing.

Locally here in the Chesapeake Bay most are going Nox's, there way of competing with me is using the bigger coils. And the same with a few who use the CTX.. rare to See Pi's here but a few still use the Dual Fields and Sea Hunters. The last TDI I seen the guy was having issues, then that leaves the MDT..not seen any of them yet. OO and a few old timers still use there CZ20's.. but they are thinning out for the old guys are going for the Nox's.

And a side note.. Seen a few of the Nox's are flooding or malfunctioning due to water egression, just like the rest of the worlds.

So what is left?  Maybe a Sea Ghost?

You mentioned having to turn your head so you could hear due to the wind, does your head phones have weep holes? If so you might want to put some tape over the holes If you haven't already.. My AQ headphones have weep holes, I put tape over them and it helped keep the noise out during high winds..

During the winter I will wear a full hood that covers head phones then down to my neck. My friend Mike Guard came up with that. Something else I did a few years ago and it worked was I ordered a fur like covering for the (HP) shells, similar to what they use for microphones in windy weather. Lasted a few months but looked rather crazy.

Thanks kac, That seems to be the case for me. I don't live so close to the beach so I usually try to stay as long as possible when conditions are decent.

That's a Great run on targets and Gold! love that cross too!

That is part of the secret here, being close to the beach so you can decide that morning if to go or not, based on the conditions. Which are easy to access with all of the internet tools now.

  6. That's the fun of treasure hunting, one week is great. The next your a lost puppy!

I had a spot a few years ago, unreal, totally spoiled me. Nine months of living the dream, then Boom! It was gone.. totally covered, reason.. 35mph winds blowing into shore....Very Sad.

My saying is, one door closes, another opens. You just have to find it. Good Luck!

There are more than a "few" for certain. It's kinda like being a criminal mastermind. You always here about the one's who get caught. Never about the one's who pulled it off and got away. Like D.B Cooper ! Probably 1 regret I do have is not taking pictures of finds way back when so I can re-live it. Most are in memory , but some are lost as I age.

One thing for sure there are not many on this side, must be you west coast boys.

Now if your talking years ago, then Everyone was digging gold. But me.. There was a guy here in the Bay who had over 10,000 gold rings? He did take pictures but I'm not seeing 10 thousand..

There is NO way The Depot always had the top hunters in the USA post on their site.

Maybe I did word that wrong, it should have said Some of the Best hunters in the USA... , but in my short span of 14 years of beach hunting I can't tell you how many hunters I have ran into boasted about there finds. For them I always say..., Prove it "I'm from Missouri" .........  that's when I get my chuckle..

But you are correct, I am sure there are "A FEW" other Good hunters out there that are happy with finding gold and not telling anyone. What's that saying about 95% of the gold is found by the same hunters each year?

One thing for sure, I'm out of the ranks this year..😬

Buy the way, the first time I actually talked to Terry on the beach, he was super friendly and showed me his finds, without even asking!! I did ask him for a selfie with me though, and he gladly complied!😂  He is just a laid-back cool guy!!👍👍

I totally agree, I really like the way he tells his stories. I had seen a few video's of him on Treasure tells. A real enjoyment watching.

Were you tempted to post Who's Your Daddy now ? Skuh kuh kuh kuh

Guess the totals spoke for you well enough.....

Na... I did come in like a Bull in a China shop...........

I can't remember who told me that but I do remember it well, kind of like me standing up and someone telling me to set down for no one knows you...

I had that happen another time also. When I first started hunting the Chesapeake Bay I would go to the local beach (Sandy Point) and watch the hunters. So I joined in, it was a 6am to 9am hunt.... ... everyone had to get out of the water by 9am ..then they would meet in the parking lot and show their finds off. I remember I had found a gold cross and walked over to show everyone.. only one person said nice find, .......  Joe D.. still my friend.

I posted over there a few times then someone told me it was for the Pro Hunters.. so I just watched for few years .........Then I let them have it.. OBN..

My dream is to live 5 minutes from a couple of beaches, so I can detect all week.

I can tell you right now that is a major advantage. All of the beaches I hunt are any where from 15 to 45 minutes, being that close I can cherry pick the days I hunt. Most of the time the small window opens once a week for about 4 to 5 hours. And that maybe all I hunt that week but it is productive.. Most of the time.  I'm sure if you were that close you would be cleaning up.

    Hi Joe!

I know you love you Excals and have a very success with it,just wonder if you have have the ctx3030 or what do you think about the ctx in the water(Beside waterproof comparison which excal is better i know) can it hit gold rings in the water as good as Excal?

At this beach any machine could have found these. I had a CTX for a few years, Good machine but not for me, to much information which can be distracting for me. As far as comparing the CTX and Excalibur. I think the CTX is a better machine for finding rings on fresh drop beaches.. I have seen a couple CTX's where I hunt, along with several Nox's on the older beaches. Never have I seen them find old Gold, My opinion, it comes down to the hunters abilities with the machine and knowledge of this type of hunting..

I can share this, I hunted a older small beach where I was invited by two CTX users and one AT Pro.... When I left the first day and they seen what I found, one went out right away and got a Excalibur.. Him with a new Excalibur and doing a few modifications reopened that spot up where I would say he got a "LOT"  more silver and gold from it..  Mike Guard like me seemed to connect with the Excalibur.. I can take Mike out with me and he can find everything I find, I take others who have Nox's, Excalibur's and CZ20/21's .. Most find only a few targets. So I would say, it's not the machine its the users.. I never clicked with the CTX.. with the right user it may find all I find.. but yet to see it happen.

Post from a very good friend I took to one spot, Tom has been detecting about 40 years plus years.

Second picture is my take that day..
