  1. The old pirate last trip up got gold at Sandy Point.. I went on a reconn to the old beach area with the AQ, he took the Nox looking for fresh drops..... He was funny, said I should have been digging gold...instead of playing. He skunked me with the Nox..
  2. Yes! I remember, I met up with 2 hunters in NJ..(winter 2012). they were from NY.. The Target was a 5 gram 14k wedding band wedding band, The At Pro got it at 10 inches... the excalibur 14 inches, and that Hot CZ was hitting it at 18 inches.. but he had to be right above it and it was a Low like Iron. Bob and I just ran into each other last week, i think he let that CZ20 / 21 go.. pictures below You know Steve Nago, Was a Fisher Factory repair Tech many years. I've taken him out a few times with his CZ 20 and now he uses the Nox.. I had him going, telling him about all the gold I've dug that started as a ghost signal/one way faint, nulls.... He's funny, said he feels sick now that he knows he has missed so many possible gold ring by skipping the lows.. Steve has modified several CZ-20/21....adds a fourth tone..for pennies ....and I think some clad? The guys is amazing, he worked at NSA 40l years, and got many awards for the computers he design and setup. Now retired... I sent him the Barracuda to play with, I got it warmed up but a weak signal.. time to turn it over to the Master from John Hopkins..
  3. Hats of to you! I would imagine you guys get excited at see rocks? We have rocky beaches (in the water) the northern part of the bay, a little over a hours drive. Been there once, never again.
  4. Just my opinion but I think VDI numbers can be a curse on the wrong beach. If your hunting a beach with deep sand, or lots of wave action where gold can be deep, any detector (with a VDI or tone ID) those deep gold will come up as Negatives, Nulls or as Iron. I don't think this is a problem at fresh drop beaches as much as at places where gold can sink fast, or get buried. It is for real and I've experienced this many times. Here is a short video of a gold ring that was a faint, I checked it in disc and it nulled. Only reason I kept digging because I knew there was a chance it could be a good target. Once I've got a couple scoops I check again in Disc.. this time I get a med-high tone. That was the go for me to dig the target. You may have to turn the volume up to hear the first faint signal.
  5. Could have been BP's at one time but things here are constantly moving, specially where I hunt these spots at...several hundred feet off shore. Here, out deep, I dig everything (AM, faints, one way signals, ghost signals, Anything that is a hint of a target), until I get a good solid hit (possible one, two three scoops)..then I check it in discriminate with a quick push of the disc button. I wish I had a record of how many of those faints, nulls or no signal in disc, were gold. And that is with the excalibur. The AQ I dig only the deep targets..skipping shallow. Never dug a crown cap with the cork.. being a lite target (with surface area) .. more than likely they were washed in close to shore. One area I stay away from...at most beaches. Possible Deus ll area..in the future. Sorry to hear cudamark, I've found there are places the AQ is a burden, sounds like all your surrounded by. From the very beginning all I wanted was a deep PI, which is just what I bought it for... some pushed the discriminate side of the machine which was a big mistake. And I have the feeling they are going to continue if it goes to market. And honestly, I think the AQ is to Hot for many....... "in the saltwater" locations.
  6. Think I found the correct fitting, see how well the bulkhead fitting I have coming works. If it works fine this fitting would be the one that is used to plug the bonephones into.. Do you (or anyone) have a picture of "1/8" mini phone plug" that you use to plug into your "detachable XP headphone puck" My bad is I should have ordered this one (instead of the bulkhead) and made a M-8 6 pin (female) to M-12 8 pin (male) CTX fitting cable which I still may.
  7. That's a baby huey Gold ring! Nice save on that one!! I agree, in the right places dig it all.. wait, I skip the shallows. Forgot that.
  8. You will be using it on land only correct? Not submerged? Got my Bone phones, know more once I get the M-8 6 pin bulkhead fitting. Audio seems a little low with the excalibur but I do need a good solid connection and some adjusting on my head, noticed when I move around they get louder. The pin out is... And this is looking into the BP fitting..
  9. Pictured you have 12.6 volts full charged with 3500mAh.. 18650 battery size ..the more mAh the longer the run time, also purchase quality cells, anything over 3500 mAh more than likely is junk in the 18650 size.. There has been several post on this subject if you do a search. This is the battery I would recommend for your use.. https://www.bulkbattery.com/collections/wholesale-batteries/products/panasonic-ncr18650b# Picture below is from here, someone else's picture, the 16.8 volt setup that can be used with the TDI BH.. And welcome to DP!
  10. I think one reason I dig very little trash with the AQ is where I hunt and what I dig. The waters here are a great classifier of targets by their weight, size and shape. Very rare for me to dig a bobby pin, maybe they were not around in the 50's and earlier? Plus I've learned to go thru areas first with the excalibur and come back ASAP to hit areas with the least amount of trash with the AQ... digging faints only and skipping shallows. All Metal only..
  11. The Bay will miss you my friend! What a Great New adventure!
  12. One thing for sure there is a Market for a Good DEEP... submersible Pi that goes beep. I kind of seen all coming with the AQ ..one reason I got a second unit. And I believe there were a few others who seen the same thing and took the chance. Kind of reminds me of all the other rare PI's out there, one being the Barracuda.
  13. I send my silver to Mid-West Refineries. I have sent gold to them and was somewhat happy with the return. Seems any place you send it in it never comes back what you planned but Mid-West seems to be the closest to what I have figured. Last time I sent silver in they were about 20 dollars less then I had figured. I do have a couple locals also that pay 90% on the gold so anything I can do to keep the paper work out of the deal, I go with them. I found it's best if you take the stones out before recording the weight and shipping in or selling local. Don't give them anything to not pay the full melt price. And one thing I like about Mid-West.. turn around was about 2 weeks. Years ago I sent one melt package to a place in Texas, and I had good luck with them before, but the last time I used them in 2012 it took like 2 months. I've used Mid-West now for about 5 years..never a problem.
  14. Thanks Cal-Cobra! The ratio of class rings to the other designs was up this year. I send my silver in to melt, and the gold I'll bank 95%..Occasionally, I'll cash in some to justify a purchase.
  15. Thanks Rich! Amen to being around, all taught me ..everyday is special. I bet it is tough out in the desert! I feel for you on that, If I ever move away from the water, I probably give up detecting. Welcome! Let it be known, pull me away from my home hunting grounds..I am, a rookie. And this made me laugh.. Just one more good target before I go.
  16. Easy task figuring the pinout. Something that you think XP would have thought ..Extra sells if they fit another machine. But unfortunately most manufactures don't think like that. Easiest way would be to remove the fitting and replace it, but if the leads are the same as earphone buds, their hair thin with a lacquer coating. have to double up on my reading glasses..
  17. Thank You! Like these.. ~ "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"~ Leonardo da Vinci ~ ~ Pre-determined settings serve only to get you in the ballpark. It’s up to you to pick the best seat ~
  18. Keep us informed on how you like them.. Not sure if this is true but someone said they will fit the Nox?
  19. Question.. you ordered from here? Want to make sure .. https://www.maisondeladetection.com/detecteurs-xp-deus-2-fmf/1155-casque-etanche-xp-deus-2-bh-01-3665994005119.html I think they would be good on cold windy days with my excalibur. Wear under neoprene hood....Will be using ..... Bulgin PXMBNIO8RPF06AAFLM800 M-8 6 PIN Code A ..bulkhead connector for the endcap.
  20. Many Thanks to all for the kind replies. May 2022 be a Blessed and Lucky year for all of us...
  21. Thanks Hamid! Thanks Brad!! You had a great year buddy! Thanks Mr KOB! I agree, lots happened the last year, hard finding the excitement ..hoping it is just the cold. Best to you my friend!
  22. This guy is good to listen too and one Heck of a good hunter..starts at 12:30 talking about them. Funny he said the Deus ll is good, but these BC phones.. are alien...... innovative
  23. For real,...the AQ is better and I predicted it. The AQ is better then any machine out there when you test it on a singled out target with iron around...But you get it in the wild where there is trash everywhere....... than it struggles. Picture below, where the red X ...the AQ can See a gold ring or piece of gold under all of the iron..and USA coins, clad and silver...... Any place you put the gold ring it will see it..even once buried deep.....The big piece of iron is about the size of a golf ball... AS the iron gets bigger and bigger the AQ has a harder time until it see's the Iron only.. .
