Nice hunt! Wonder if there is any relation to signal emitters in the area and wet salt conductivity paths? ... understand I'm reaching with that. In any case that seems a strange phenomena. Did you try turning sensitivity down?
This spot is maybe the worse on earth, everything from pollution, no targets, bull sharks, and surrounded by many possible issues. This is the spot I've taken a few and they told me to never bring them back because there are no targets to be heard...............😆

Mike you are shining with that AQ!! Got to love a machine that can come into a barren beach and find gold, much less targets. WTG!

Nice haul. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a salt water beach near me.

Even though many struggle finding gold at the beaches here...... I think we are very blessed to be near the water. I remember a old-timer tell me "One could step out in the water at any spot in the bay and find something"
Let everyone know, I learned a lot from Mike over the last 5 years when we had a chance to get out together. Excellent beach reader and hunter.

Mike that is a beauty! I remember several years ago you were telling me that right side could possibly hold deep gold, You sure were correct! No one else can find gold at that spot, Except the AQ and Mikes Skills!! Got to love the AQ!

That will certainly change were any flex is happening!
After I re-read your post on yours...I now know were the leak was, mine was hollow also, so the leak to the outer was thru the Pins I had removed.
TVR
"His pictures show a mostly solid lower piece with holes drilled in the shaft insert for the pins. Mine is hollow nearly all the way to the yoke end, meaning it is still hollow down into the thick part that is outside the shaft when assembled. All the pin holes enter the thin tube like part of the molding."

Congratulations on the nice gold band! I've always felt land was one of the hardest spots to find Gold.

Hopefully this Fix will allow me non-delayed hunting. Not beautiful,... but functions.
Took out the bottom pin on the shaft leaving the top, seems to be the weak link area. Cut a 5.5 inch (14cm) piece of 25 x 23mm Carbon fiber, slid it over the weak area with about a 2mm space between the shaft and the carbon fiber..... Cut slots on both sides so the CF tube goes all the way to the bottom. Sealed the bottom of the CF tube, and poured a 2 part 24 hour dry epoxy into the void. Let that dry for a few hours then started pouring the epoxy down the top of the shaft to fill the hollow area in the lower clevis insert. I'm sure i added some weight with all of the epoxy added but maybe a good thing. Hope to find out this week, planning my first (real hunt) Thursday with the AQ since my accident in Jan...,
Interesting, I am sure the slow dry epoxy filled in the area where I took the lower pin out. I had filled the void and did not give it much time to dry when I started to fill the main shaft with epoxy.. I soon noticed it was forcing out the epoxy in the void so I stopped and gave it enough time to firm up, then continue. I'm not sure where the inter was leaking thru to the outer. Unless it was coming out the pin holes where I pulled both earlier. I never pulled the clevis joint to see if it was solid, but it is now.

2 are in parallel and series and the other 2 are in parallel and series?
Yes
2S2P......
pictured are the 18650s but you can see the wiring of...
the battery pack I have here is 15.08 volts but they have been well used, I think.
I have a friend who use to be a Fisher Authorized repair center, let me know I can check with him see if he has them Rebel Metal Detectors in SC

Fisher don't sell them? Seems like that would be the easier route.

I'm wondering... Say you run the big coil with a delay around 11 and the small coil with a delay around 8... which one would have better punching power on ring size objects?
My opinion, The little 8 holds up very well on depth against the bigger 12.7 on all gold targets. But I still feel the Big coil is the best opp if you can keep the noise down on gold rings. One thing I have noticed about the AQ, No matter the (below) settings in All Metal, depth lose is very minimal.
Running high to low sensitivity (4 to 9) and the ATS from 0 to 8... then the Delay 7 to 11. Water here is Brackish and not as bad as the Ocean salt, then rushing waters......... so I do feel I have a advantage to more opinions on settings with the bigger coil.. one reason I may sell the little coil n shaft.

Just ordered some carbon fiber tube, 25mm x 23mm. Think I am going to add a little over that weak area. My last trip out I noticed I do lean a lot on that shaft. If they are prone to break in the same spot all of the time I think this reinforcement will help? Will post pictures of the Mods once I get one done.
TVR, do you have pictures of yours or anyone else that has snapped the clevis.

No doubt you got some good work out time. I have one spot here in the bay the AQ has a hard time with EMI but once submerged it smooths as silk. Thanks for sharing the settings, always interesting to see how others adjust for the conditions.

Thanks Joe
are the cables a relatively easy fix if broken - have a chance to get a limited to NZ and value your opinion!
The cables they use now are very hardy and I doubt there would be any problems with them. If there was there are places that sell similar cables here in the states. And really you could make your own for the connectors are sold by Bulgin. I just don't like the design and the way it's looks like a rats nest.
My big concern about having a limited that far away would be Warranty work.

Hi Joe / wondering if you think it is better to wait for the AQ SERIEs or go with the limited - given your experience with the Xcals etc
any advice appreciated - sorry to hijack the thread!
My opinion, Nothing wrong with the limited other then the battery run time and the cables in that area. But I do think the "New" AQ is a much better machine because they have made so many refinements. The only thing that concerns me...the Price. I am hopping around 2000.oo?

Great day out Mike, Thank you for the invite also. Hard to believe it has been 5 months since I got wet.

Sorry to see they need to debate about it being replaced.😵
Maybe I should work a design up for a new clevis, can't be that hard.🔨

WTG Mike!! Love the Red Stone Gold!! Both oldies too and been down for a good many years. I knew you and the AQ would hit it off with a Bang !! I see a lot more gold coming out of those tough spots you have up there.
Happy Birthday also..
And Thanks to Steve for the extra 26650 batteries. Something a little different.
