  1. Back to a spot I've been working the last few weeks. This trip it gave up a couple more golds, 10k 1935 Class ring and a 14k wedding band. Then 3 silver crusty coins and one "P" nickel.. (which I do not count as silver)........ I was able to Opened the brass compact, Very surprised to see a 1911 Barber dime and a ticket inside. The dime is as detailed as the day it was lost, saved by what ever was in the compact stamped " Woodward and Lothrop " The ticket does have some faint writing, can't make it out other then some numbers. Going to be interesting, I was able to mark off this location with a stray crab pot. See if it worked the next trip back. Winds and tides are going to be crazy for several days, so I'll be surprised if all is where I left it. This beach has one little Hot area, I've tried using land markers but it still takes me a hour or more to find it since it is so small and I am a ways off shore. The spot sure holds the right targets and they can only be heard if your moving slow. I had planned on taking the Fisher "AQ", never worked out, one side of "My skullies"' headphones was acting up so I ended up using the Excalibur. Hope to get back out after the 8th, can't wait!
  2. X-2 !!! That could cover a month of bad days! Very NIce!!
  3. I'm going to tell him start practicing using the Gold Mode 1 all metal... we have a outing planned in later Nov.. same beach
  4. I talked to friend today today who tried the 15 inch on his Nox. He used it for a few months but said it was to noisy here in the bay. It did provide the coverage but he had to make so many adjustments that there was no depth advantage. After he told me that I remembered the same when I tried a few larger coils on the Excalibur. The WOT, and the Detech ULT13.. the 13 was so hot, once it was in 3 foot of water I could not even adjust the sensitivity down enough to stop the noise. Even more interesting is the "AQ's big 12.6 inch coil. It can be noisy but with coil control (And setting adjusting) it is manageable. I just got a 10 inch special made coil for it and I swear that baby is silent. I'm taking the AQ out tomorrow with the 10 in rough waters. See how all goes.
  5. Some thing that really woke me up to how hard it was to dig 18 inches was when I dug the holes for the PVC pipe when testing the "AQ" The PVC pipe was 20 inches long..... Honestly, After digging those test holes I don't think I've dug many that deep. If any, when hunting.
  6. I will send this to John, Thank You. I came across a video with Terry Shannon in it when he was interviewed about the Nox..I shared that last night with John. Some good info in it also. I will pass along the info on the 15 also..
  7. Thanks Mr KOB! When it comes to talking how deep this is and how deep that was, it really is a touchy subject for everyone........what settings or machine that gets that depth in one part of the country may work or be different some place else. And I can't tell you how many times I've dug a deep signal and say to myself. That devil was a good 18 inches, only to find once I measured it.. it was only 14.. I even had one the other day when I used the AQ.. the second gold ring.. WoW that s deep.. then I measured it.. sad to say it was a little over 13 inches. But it was 1.6 grams to..😁 I think we are going to set up a Go ZFund Me Page for you.. Buy you a good camera.. Sounds like you missed a great picture on that find. I hope the Nox owners don't takes it wrong what I said, I've found you can learn so much more about your hunting & machine abilities when doing test / compares with some one right there. Helpful for both parties in learning. My goal is to help my friend find gold, and take it from me I don't do that for anyone. John just happened to catch me at the right time, and he has a boat on the river I can not get to..😍
  8. Have several from the late 1800's..but this is the oldest...1861..
  9. I know the Nox was running beach 2 with a threshold.. Does that sound right? And remember my Excalibur's are not stock, many modifications.. and I hunt in PP/All metal. I've taken CZ20/21, and other Excalibur hunters and they can't hear the targets either.... I've hunted along side Nox's before but this is the first time that I went thru and picked out faints for them to check and dig. And for the record I did have one guy that had a HOT CZ21, that thing could hear all I heard and even deeper then my Excalibur.. He was getting a 6 gram gold ring at 16-18 inches.. My excal was getting it at 14..and this was on the Jersey shores several years ago...I have done several upgrades to the Excalibur since but that CZ21 was as deep as the "AQ" is.. So what I did, I would find deep faints targets for John in PP using my Excalibur. Most I would have to remove two scoops..about 10 inches? For him to find the targets. He did hear them then but they gave a iron signal ......after a scoop or two he would get a discriminated silver tone .......John is a excellent land hunter, and hunts the water but mostly fresh drop beaches.
  10. Thank you! I sold all in late 2012 when I was sick. I do regret selling then. The last 7 years I've saved most, I have them locked away in a bank in another state. Occasionally, I will have a friend pull them out for me and I'll add to, get a few pictures (or video) then put them back. Someday my grandsons will hopefully be the beneficiaries, if I taught my daugther correctly on how to get the most out of them. I'm very Blessed that I don't need to melt them, but I do send my silver in for melt and do good with that.. A side note, If I hunted the land only my ring count would be about 1 a year, if that.
  11. A friend took me out on his boat Friday in search of Gold and Silver at a spot that is very hard to get too. Fours hours and all I had was several silvers but I could smell the gold.. It was close...just never found it.... Saturday I forced myself to get out of bed and go in search of that yellow stuff again (alone this time). Different beach...Water was calm.. and the tides were not the best but being what they were it forced me to hunt in the right spot. Not a lot of targets but got into a little area I could feel it again, then about 16 inches down, out came a 12 gram 10k gold. Hunted for a while longer, then as I was walking in, "out of the blue" I got another signal. Out came a 5.8 gram X10k. Old stamp.. Final total (both hunts) 7 hours,... 2 10k golds, 13 Silvers. I've had a very "Blessed" week, 5 gold rings total (30.58 grams of gold) , 24 Silver coins..in 4 hunts, about 16 hours. Three different beaches. Winds and Tides are off this week, then that crazy day light savings time is coming.😒 Both John and I had a good time, and interesting, I had a chance to see how well the Nox 800 with stock coil did against my 10 inch coil Stealth Excalibur. In short, I have nothing to worry about from the Nox's. No doubt the best machine to have on fresh drop beaches, but when the targets are very deep, I'm not even sure the 15 inch coil on the Nox would help. Wish I could get back to the one spot, the AQ would kill that place I believe, Here...when you digging a lot of silver.. the gold is right there with it. It was just to deep for the Excalibur at the first spot. Good Luck to everyone out there and Be Safe!
  12. That's a Great Month! And some beautiful Gold, specially the One! So glad to see another "AQ" lover! I do hope you can snag another Limited. Like you I have heard nothing other then what Russ said about 2022 being the year. Good Luck and continue the Mission!!
  13. Thank you! It sure does kill the silver. From North to South (of me) in the Bay I can just about tell where everyone hunts just by the conditions of the silver coins. Further North the coins are just a little black, the ones further south can be crusty and paper thin paper thin. Old sterling rings just crumble. 🤕 Thank You! It's been a long while since I used the "AQ" so I had to renew my faith........... so I will be using it more now that I have plenty of time. About 30 minutes into this hunt I was thinking... Maybe I should go back to the car and get the Excalibur for I was getting no faint signals. But then I moved a little further down the beach and then the place came alive with deep targets. So I have to keep reminding myself.. this machine will find the gold, just be patient. Thanks Elbert! Yes, alone but I have a inflatable life jacket with a ACR Coast Guard Rescue Beacon Unit....... Cost me a good bit but my GF said she would rest easier if I wore it.. So to keep the peace with family I now have one. https://www.acrartex.com/ Thanks Dew! I still don't feel as confident with the "AQ" as I do the xcal but this hunt really helped renew what I had forgot since I've not been out hunting much the last few months. I think the last time I used the AQ was around the first of July, it got gold then also. But I feel the excalibur was the best machine when my out time was short, now I'm back to fulltime Pirate it's going to be out a lot more. Only been out twice with this coil but if you see my settings I can really push the "AQ" to the limits. SO I've used four different "AQ" coils now and this one seems to be the best?. Air testing this one, and the two bigger coils there is only one inch lost...in depth. And this one swings much easier thru the water with 99.9 percent, no falsing. So more time out in rougher conditions are needed.
  14. Back out again yesterday, 3 hours. 2 gold bands and 3 silver coins. One of the gold bands is fairly old, guessing from the Hallmark/Fineness mark ... * X * (10k) late 1800's. I went back where I had found the gold Sunday when using the Excalibur but this trip I took the Fisher "AQ" PI. The "AQ" is a killer on deep gold rings. Both rings about 14 inches down, one I said.. this is trash.. signal had a Faint "Quick" ramp up, down, then quick back up.. semi broken signal. Like a short bobby pin?.. In all metal. Machine was super silent and smooth the full hunt.. Delay was 10.. Volume just short of full (9) .. sensitivity cranked up (9) ...ATS 4.5 and all metal ..dig all. Ring one is 14k 4.28grams, Second older gold is 1.6 grams 10k Also remember I have a audio cut off for the volume on the handle, that's the reason the audio can not be heard when I run the coil over the target in the sifter. I can hear it for it so loud it bleeds thru the switch faintly. I love this machine!!
  15. Sad is all has went silent from Fisher on the AQ.. I think you would do really good with it, being your a hardcore PI hunter. That being said, I know of a couple hard core (PI) hunters who had them and sold them. So we can only hope Fisher can come clean and say.. it is coming and don't be waiting for it...... or at least say we no longer see a future for the AQ.
  16. My first time out in a month, a lot has happened and now I am back to being a fulltime pirate. Water was was warm..70F with the 3mm wetsuit but the winds were up in the Chesapeake Bay this weekend............ Air temps were 54F so the wind chill was bad. Four hours hunt time, 7 Silver Washington's, 1 Mercury dime. One 7.49 gram 10k gold Class ring. Silver count is fairly good this year considering it's been a real down year.. (153) Next trip out will be with the drysuit.. getting to old for the cold.
  17. Good luck on your new venture! Many like the MDT but you dive so I am not sure how well it could handle submerged.... I am very happy with what I have, The Excalibur and AQ, and I don't see me ever changing. Locally here in the Chesapeake Bay most are going Nox's, there way of competing with me is using the bigger coils. And the same with a few who use the CTX.. rare to See Pi's here but a few still use the Dual Fields and Sea Hunters. The last TDI I seen the guy was having issues, then that leaves the MDT..not seen any of them yet. OO and a few old timers still use there CZ20's.. but they are thinning out for the old guys are going for the Nox's. And a side note.. Seen a few of the Nox's are flooding or malfunctioning due to water egression, just like the rest of the worlds. So what is left? Maybe a Sea Ghost?
  18. During the winter I will wear a full hood that covers head phones then down to my neck. My friend Mike Guard came up with that. Something else I did a few years ago and it worked was I ordered a fur like covering for the (HP) shells, similar to what they use for microphones in windy weather. Lasted a few months but looked rather crazy.
  19. Love the Gold with Diamonds! One of my favorite wedding band design. You find a lot of sun glasses?
  20. Congrads on the 14k band. Has a interesting look to it.. I always enjoy trying to date gold rings and that is a tough one since your coins seem to run over a 100 years till now.
  21. That's a Great run on targets and Gold! love that cross too! That is part of the secret here, being close to the beach so you can decide that morning if to go or not, based on the conditions. Which are easy to access with all of the internet tools now.
  22. That's the fun of treasure hunting, one week is great. The next your a lost puppy! I had a spot a few years ago, unreal, totally spoiled me. Nine months of living the dream, then Boom! It was gone.. totally covered, reason.. 35mph winds blowing into shore....Very Sad. My saying is, one door closes, another opens. You just have to find it. Good Luck!
  23. TDI on steroids I would say.... . Just had a major change in my life, Soon the Limited will be back in the water again, can't wait.
