  1. Thanks You! I'm stunned also and kind of thinking this is to good to be true. But when things do settle down, then the next round will be to take the AQ in.. One of the crazies digs I have had so far, most rings are about 3 scoops deep, guess 12 to 15 inches? I dug a pig of a gold ring, almost right on the surface..(1 scoop) I am still trying to figure out are they moving, or are they being uncovered?
  2. Thank You! Funny I never tell anyone the right place where I am finding the gold. So I talking to this old hunter and telling him I hunting beach (A) and finding several class rings.. about half way thru he said, We never found many at beach (A) but we use to find a lot at Beach (X) all the time.... Oppps .. I never confessed he was right but it did confirm what I had heard before. This beach I was told... if it was sanded in they would take the Jetboat and go up and down it a few times to find gold.. Not uncommon for them to walk out with more then 7 gold rings a hunt. The way I see it I am getting the crumbs.
  3. Thank You! Yes, every beach I have hunted in the Bay has been dredged, hammered during the 80's and early 90's but then they set for years as the land was sold to developer's, mostly homes and town houses. ... then a few, marina's. Most now are impossible to get to unless from the water.. Over the last 10 years I have collected stories and pictures on everyone of them, from the internet, old hunters and old people that still live near by. some of the stories are unreal on the amount of gold that they use to find. BUT time has passed, things were covered, moved around and hard to believe.. they all are still giving it up.. My favorite saying is... One door closes, and another opens. You just have to be there when it happens. Good Luck to you Okara also!
  4. Thank you! A small Dremel SS brush for the deeper details, then Mothers Mag wheel polish. Best stuff I have ever seen, I've used since I was into motorcycles..in the 70's.
  5. Thank You! This beach is noted for its class rings, must have been the place to hang when you were young. Most of the rings are dated from the 1950's down to 1936.
  6. I'll have to go thru my old post, story is rather long. Quickly, I am Very Blessed to be Alive.
  7. Thank You! Yes, On the extension of the arm. I really connect with the Excalibur as I am setting the threshold. Almost we become one? The AQ is a little different, the connection is there but I can't seem to tame it? It is so beastly it really requires so much more coil control. I do have a new addition to it so I am hoping that will help. The drysuit from the great fall got cut up when they pulled me out of the water. I did save a few things off of it. Luckily I had 3 drysuits, now down to 2.. I need to put a new zipper in the one and neck seal. I do have to figure out some way to keep my feet warm once the water hits the 40's.. and below. Thinking some kind of electric sox's? Had them before but never really liked them. I saved the boots from the accident but they are totally unsafe unless I am hunting with some one. They did keep my feet toasty but if you lift one foot up you can feel them wanting to go to the surface, Very buoyant.
  8. Thanks Mr KOB.......No tumbling, just take the cookie off and toss in the pile... Only detail I get from the silver is a check at the end of the year. And let me add, when I am finding silver quarters, It's a "X" on the map. Dig everything.
  9. Excalibur Rules! Summer season is now over, took me a few hunts in June to find a decent spot but It's been giving every since, 13 straight hunts with gold. July 3rd to Sept 4th ..........Summer gold count 30, 27 Gold rings, 3 misc. Gold (174 grams)....130 Silvers, mostly coins.......the July 3rd gold was with the AQ..which is setting for right now ...... due to the amount of time I can get out and hunt, the AQ requires a lot more work when hunting and the excalibur fits the one spot perfect and finds gold...... Kind of Funny, I posted this on a Excalibur Facebook Page and Got a over whelming response, and had a few, I guess who had never seen a Class ring and a few thought they were fake rings? Anyway all worked out, had to delete a couple of the post to keep the peace. Come on Fall! And the Silver..as bad as it gets..bay is terrible on it.
  10. Thank You, I fully agree and the same goes for Fisher.. other then Alexandra. You really have to be out there and experience, then be able to pull the machine a part and make changes. Seems like each time you go out you see something else that can be upgraded or reworked to be better. And with this machine I've had it out about 6 times now and already see things I need to do.. In that time I have rebuild it twice.
  11. I will! Thank You! I've had good luck with the yellow push buttons the last 3 years but I got a order in.......Now I 've had a few go bad within aa couple hunts. Quality control must had been sleeping that week.
  12. Keep what you have and enjoy. PI's are just deeper and can slow you down ..unless you have a clean beach. Sorry about your experience with the AQ, seems a few have had issues. Are you missing anything without a PI.. I would say very little. Me, am I missing any gold.. I am sure I am but the excalibur is keeping me happy for now.
  13. Glad they worked out for you. I just another set, they seem to only last about 3 years... Just finished one of my excaliburs, PP button went bad so I redid all again and made some adjustments to things I seen that needed to be changed. Did not do any video's on how but once I've used it a few more months I share more on a video. I can tell you the amount of noise difference is stunning, from one of my regular excaliburs to the one I just finished. Once the pods controls are totally isolated from saltwater the only other source of possible noise is the coil, and this can be controlled with better coil control. I used one of my regular excaliburs yesterday and the difference is very noticeable.
  14. Final Modified Version of my Excalibur. Was able to silence the machine in rough waters by removing all of the knobs except one which ..and it is sealed from the saltwater by a o-ring and custom easy, fine tune knob. Stability is very good close to shore where water is smacking the control pod and the coil wire... I do need to get a shorter Allen set screw for the sealed on/off threshold knob I made...but for now the allen is coated with aquaseal and the internal shaft on the pot has a plastic cover to break contact with the SS knob shaft. Not real happy about the toggle on the handle which is used to go between PP and disc. But I had a bad batch of the IP68 yellow momentary push buttons ..... had two fail on me.... I was right in the middle of a good hunt and had one go out on me..so I pulled it out and chopped it off to finish the hunt., got home and made more changes to the excal. Hopefully in the future they can get better quality switches. And special Thanks to Steve detector rods for rushing a few of the cam locks for the lower shaft..., so much easier adjusting the coil for the hunt, which is a very important part of coil control and Pin pointing the target..... Picture of the hunt I was in the middle of and the yellow IP68 button went on me.. I can not stand to hunt in disc, which was the mod it was stuck in..chop-chop and all was good..
  15. 39 silver is excellent. Really your numbers are not bad at all. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Nice collection! I'm wondering what your ratio is on ..Gold, Silver, junk.. Now days Gold is hard to come by, silver is not as bad but the new age metals are taking over.
  17. Lets say it is still evolving. I believe the Limited is available thru Fisher now but I would advise waiting for the final version. When? I have no clue.
  18. You cleaned House!! Congratulations on all the Treasure! Beautiful Black Diamond! I've never found one of those. You ran that baby HOT too! The AQ rules!!
  19. Your Welcome!....I love both the Excal and AQ. Right now my main machine is the Excalibur, Problem is, my hunts are so far a part it keeps me out of touch with the conditions. I doubt if I've been out more then 10 times since May. I use the AQ as a PI and if you want it to work it's best you have to know what your walking into.. Here is my work on my AQ I got from Rick, warranty expires fall this year so I want to make sure the main controls are out of contact with the saltwater. Come winter this will be on the AQ.. And No one has every had any issues with the AQ flooding or leaking, I'm just installing some insurance.
  20. Yes a cleaner but I swear by this stuff.. https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=asc_df_B00006LVEU/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198057017270&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2205290726216628905&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007872&hvtargid=pla-382003658380&psc=1
  21. Get the DeoxIT D5, spray the board and the Potentiometers. If you look into the third board down you can see a small opening in the pots.. spray the deoxit in these slots, I give them two quick shots. Let it dry for 24 hours then try..
  22. Sorry I just seen this return post. It looks good except the coil to endcap, I have a extra double endcap I can send for free to replace the one.. If you need. The coil to endcap cable looks dangerous, but it could be a bad picture.... Also.......for sure fill the tub, set the detector in the water.. submerged , turned on the machine, put the head phones on and listen for at least a hour. I'm guessing you will get EMI which will make it hard but listen for the machine to act crazy, like falsing or stopping. Its going to be hard in the house, so If you do take it out in the real world......... I would go slow once under. Any abnormal falsing, or it acting stupid ..get it out of the water ..pull the head phone endcap and check for water. I might recommend having some DeoxIT D5 around just incase you need to clean the board fast. My opinion, change that coil fitting out this winter or sooner. Other then that I think you did a great job.. You will find the more you work on it the easier it comes as you learn.
