X-2 Buddy....lets hope in time we can gain this skill. I think to be the best you can be when hunting requires a team effort of a good VLF like the NOX or Excalibur then the AQ as a special tool for those tough beach's. If you know your beach's well you will know which machine to take. As it stands right now it's a 50/50 split for me.......... And All of these post are just my opinion ..... The one with the 19 inch's in a 14k ring. I have experienced a few of those. For years I've just wanted deep and that is what I use the AQ for.... a deep PI....Now on the Discrimination modes, I just don't see me using them very much.. but I do need to learn or try. Bobby pins were tough for me, along with larger ferrous targets. I do think in time I will get better using the disc modes, but I doubt 100%. What I do like to do is go into a area's where I hunt and skip the shallow targets and go for the deeper one's. And this works at some places and not others. Sad, I think many will say the same if those are the prices. I have to look at it as a good thing, I won't see Any around here other then maybe TVR's.

2 Beach Hunts With GPX And AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Amen to that, I know technology has provided better results over the years but like you, I'm stunned on how much is left to find. Here we have spots that were dredged over and over and still have given up 40 plus gold in one season. Very nice report on the hunt also, Love the color of the 14k. Sorry about the stock head phones, to many times have we seen the stock AQ head phones fail. Wish I worked at First Texas to solve these issues. I just fixed two sets of excal head phones for a friend, one the stock yellows, the other GGA's. Then I replace the coil on a Old Sword model that had the original stock, big cord red head set.. still working after 30 years. Something to be learned there....- 27 replies

I agree Dew, a big upgrade from the normal composite material fittings.... Circular DIN Connectors are an ideal solution for ensuring that power and signal connections are not compromised in harsh environments and industrial applications. These connectors feature screw locking, IP67 degree of protection, robust metal connector, and excellent EMI shielding. These connectors are ideal for harsh environments and industrial

Many Thanks Steve and all of my fellow Pirates for the Prays and well Wishes! Just a update, it is now one month since the accident Jan 12th. I was waiting to post here on the one month mark just to show how fast and well my recovery has been. (Thank You lord and all of my friends for the prays!) I've had many test, several MIR's and other scans. All levels and scans came back good. No damage from the hypothermia, shock and low blood levels. I feel great and just about have my stamina back and my rotary cup tear feeling much better.. I was out the other day with the AQ playing around in the wetsand, can't wait to get back in the water, which maybe this summer. As far as what happened, Joe D's post above covers the details.... What saved me, The Good Lord and my Floating sifter. I had a Doning tube (which bleeds out the air from my drysuit) allowing water cold water (slowly) into my drysuit. If not for being able to keep my upper body (head) in the Sifter I would have slowly went chest/head under. And Thank God for the lady who heard my cry and the rescue team that quickly arrived. I did get all of my equipment back, the rescue squad was very kind in dropping all by my home the day after. I have a list of a few who where involved in my recover, I do have plans on thanking each in person. Many lessons learned, first take a hunting partner always. Stay out of the water once it goes below 50F. Trash the Artic Pro boots, Not safe. Stay away from beach's that have heavy equipment moving sand, dredging. Like mentioned, have a Boaters safety whistle. And wear a manual inflate life vest when hunting deep. I still have video of the accident but going to wait to watch. Maybe next winter when I get the urge to go out...😬 Looking forwards, I will be taking off some time. Maybe by summer I can slip back into the water. I would be out there now but family obligations have kicked in so the beach will have to wait. Excited, Yes I am.. Being doing research the past week and Found a right way (path way to the water) to a spot that is very hard to get to .... I know holds treasure. Video of the spot that almost did me in... I have started work on the batteries, I hope to have a few done in the next week. Once close to finished I'll start reaching out to all who have asked. Thank you for your patients.

Yes, I order my first M-8 4 pin power cable from them. Just like any other place I've ordered from.. Mouser, Allied Electric, Digikey and Newark. I did have a issue with Newark one time but they finally got the order to me. The others including automationdirect have been perfect. https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/overview/catalog/cables/sensors_-z-_switches/pico_(m8)_harsh_duty_-z-_food_-a-_bev._q-z-d_cables

Couple Excalibur Gold 1916 & 1929 Class Rings
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Joe Beechnut OBN's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
It's mine -
Clive .....I have to say I find the Excalibur in All Metal easier to determine the shape, size, and depth of the target. I think part of the reason is the excalibur has a much softer audio. The "AQ"s audio is on steroid's and one must use great coil control to be able to define the shape and size of the target. Depth seems to be a little easier but really can take time to adjust to if your use to other All Metal machines. I do a few scoops then check the target, Oooo it's the next scoop..and Bam its deeper, then every scoop it getting louder and louder..2 scoops later and hard to believe it's blasting like it's a can.. but its a coin or ring. Really takes getting use to a machine that is so powerful. I also love those one way signals on the edge of the detecting field. If you try and move around and get it better ... it disappears...Love this Machine.

Beach Week Get Away To Learn AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to tvr's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Looks like a good time out learning the "AQ". I've yet to get in a wetsand hunt with it other then all of the testing I did early on. I would like to try it up at ship wreck beach in Delaware someday. -
That's a great chunk of Gold!! And good to see the "AQ" is back on the hunt!

Thanks You! Really it's not bad at all, I hate being wet and cold, one thing for sure... either of those and I would not be out during the winter. Market on old class rings...Just the melt value. Most are not in the best condition. -
2 Hours Sesh With The Tarsacci
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Rivers rat's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Happy New Years to you RR! That's a good outing with the new machine! And sounds like it punches deep. Not much worse then car issues. I have one right now with my Honda, battery light just came on the last trip out. Years ago I would had no problem putting a new alternator on but seems the older I get the less I want to mess with that stuff. Now to set up a appointment I can't imagine having the transmission going out. 😬 -
Enjoyed the story, amazing the scent travels 8 miles! Something about a wood fire, seems to awaken something inside of me? Had the fireplace changed over to gas a few years ago, just not the same. One of my first homes had a wood stove, loved it until we had a chimney fire. The pipe was triple wall and that baby was cherry red and sound like a jet engine. Luck had it the house never burnt down but lesson learned. Stop burning pine.

First out for the year, found a spot that has cuts that are over my head. I know how they got there but best I hold on that for now. One thing for sure targets are every where, on the top shelf, down the slope, and in the bottom. Just have to wait for a better tide so I can hunt the whole bottom and not worry about sliding down the slope. Most targets are shallow. First gold was maybe 12 inch's? Going to be interesting to see how long this spots stays intact-ed. I knew something was up and one reason I took the Excalibur for I had no clue on what I would be walking into. I am debating on taking the 8 inch on the "AQ" next trip. Seems to be no trash at all.... Three hour hunt, 1916 Class Ring and 1929 Class ring. 4 Silvers, which are eaten bad by the brackish waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Water is just dipping into the high 30's, full hunt I was toasty but Need to make some adjustments to my gloves, left glove is like wearing a sock.. No mobility.

1st 2021 Gold With The AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Slimpickuns's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Amen to that, been say that for years....And the AQ is the machine. I've got spots like that the Excalibur may hit 6 to 8 inch's, I've noticed the AQ hits much deeper.. more like 12 to 14...tough digging thru shells and clay. Both machines in AM. -
1st 2021 Gold With The AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Slimpickuns's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Yes it does, that was the only short coming. If you set it against the wall it leans on the battery. I did have another design but to complicated to be around saltwater. After a few months it failed due to my fault. -

Another "AQ" Lover! And a beauty of a ring to prove it! Two scoops and gold..Love it! You cracked me up with the "Another fan of the Big Battery" Heck, I'm a fan of my own on the big battery. I made a small one I used a few times but the big one seems to really gives me peace of mind? -
AQ Gold Ring #4 And Gold Chain
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to CCadrin's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Got all supplies ordered, most will be here this week. Only hold up is the acrylic rod...maybe by the weekend. I do have enough rod to do a couple batteries so I will make sure I get yours ready ASAP. You wanted the M-8 connector? 11 hour battery or the 5.5 hour? I've miss placed my list so I need to go thru my emails and messages to gather the details on everyone that asked. Another Great hunt Also! And good to see another AQ Lover! -
