I will never understand these company's not going with the same head phone connectors. Seems their mind set is to be different,... to control the head phones used with the machine they produce. Sad doing that for it limits the possible chance of bettering the performance of the machine. One thing about head phones and very deep targets... Targets on the edge of the detecting field are mixed in with so much other noise it's like trying to hear a needle in a haystack. A clean audio is fine but not even close to the where you want to be...to reach down and pull from the edge of the detecting field,... one must be able to pick out the little differences in this noisy area of the threshold to find treasure.. There are no details on these targets, One's that May only give a faint scent in one direction of the swing..

Gigmaster With The AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to vive equinox's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Gig is learning..and the best way is to get out, do the time and dig all. Let me add, the "AQ" is best used in combination with a good VLF. My time out hunting is about 50% AQ and the other 50% Excalibur. In time you learn which is best for the beach you plan on hunting. Carolina hunts the same beach's as the Gig....Carolina has several gold with the "AQ" but he is a very experienced PI hunter also..and it shows. I talked to Gig last week and his main use for the AQ was finding cannon balls, I do think that it shine for sure in that area..if he can dig that deep. Good Luck to the Gig! -
Got to watch Dew...he's a durability tester. You must of got to close.

They have them where they are two piece also. You can add a strait or a curved. I prefer the curved so I can carry the machine better. Little heat and they will align if they are the two piece.

I think TE's would be a great add to the AQ...I noticed they have a very clean and detailed audio...And I really liked the detailed part. Which would give you more info on the targets shape. Mine are more like a set of head phones on steriods. Which is good but not alot of detail on the targets for they are so loud. That sets me up to dig all...

I did a set of Tony's for one of the AQ owners.. put a M-8 5 pin connector on the set...., very clean audio....(over the stockers) but they still don't have the range and DB's to pull the super faints. If I remember correct the Db rating on a target 4 inch's from the coil using Tony's was 91db....... same as the stock head phones (90db). Skullies... which I make.... Db rating on the same targets was 105/106db. I think the Gold Master would be around the same. The Gold Masters have more of bass tone, the Skullies very high pitch which I favor more. Only problem with a louder audio.. the AQ can drive you insane...if you don't have a audio cut n I off. Last picture of the unconventional design of the Skullies, more of a horn to direct the audio into the ear..less restriction on the piezo allows it to flex more then any other made...I use a skin to cover the piezo, no silicon... 3M Tegaderm, used to cover wounds on your body. Tough stuff. And I no longer sell them.

Years ago I seen the potential of hunting in PP with the Excalibur and played with several idea's on how to get the most out of the All Metal mod. I found there were targets below the threshold that were being covered up if you were using stock head or anything besides what I made............ From my testing and work I was able to squeeze a few more inch's in depth from building a better set of Head phones and tweeking the audio. Being able to hear what no one else can is a big advantage. One reason I feel I have no problem hunting the wetsand or in the water and being able to find targets the Nox, CZ21. CTX, Whites DF and Excal hunters walk right over. The funny thing now is, the AQ bangs hard on targets my excalibur can barely pick out. April 2011

I agree.......... but I was trusted with the information and I would like to keep that trust. My opinion, what I know in no way would it stop anyone from buying a AQ... And I guess I can prove that by saying I still would like to have a second unit before time runs out. Plus I thing Alexandre agrees ........... for he knows a good amount about the project. And I think someone said Russ is getting a few things mixed up with the gold unit. Which is very possible.

Don't worry I have dissected both sets they offered. Nothing special other then I've never seen Dual Piezo's used before. And they work fairly well...build quality is not perfect but not many will be diving. If you are thinking about going diving with them I would highly recommend taking a peak inside to see if any additional protection is needed.

Thanks Jim...Wishing you many great finds with the extra hunting time. Be Safe and Good Luck.. Just to let those have put in orders for, No one is forgotten. Just hit a little bump in the road (delay) due to a family members illness. Not me...Hopefully things will improve and I can finish all orders by the end of the month. Thank you.. Joe

AQ And Sp01
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to mn90403's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
My Opinion, I know I don't need it for the head phones I use. Would it help with the stock head phones .... not much since I think the "AQ" Audio is on the edge of being perfect. Volume, Threshold adjustments could not be better. Now the problem lies in the head phones. Being able to block all of the outside noise (Amblient noise). And the noise with in the audio of the machine itself. "other noise" To show what I am talking about, my head phones are so loud and with the adjustments on the AQ very defined there would be no need. Only thing need is a on/off volume toggle for those moments audio is not needed. Stock Head Phones on a selected target at 4 inch's target DB is 90/91 Skullie Head Phones I use 105/106 db's Then add in the amplified audio of the AQ all is needed is the fine tuning adjustments of Threshold and Volume. To show how a good set of head phones can add to the depth...also note total silence back ground allows faint to be heard and the clean audio of the excalibur. Being able to distinguish them from the "other noise". -

My Beach Nemesis...
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to cuniagau's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I know this is not going to help...For I use All Metal only when I hunt.....Every beach is so different on it's habits it's really hard to predict what you may encounter... And I know the frustration of digging a deep target for 10 minutes only to find it is trash. I have a spot that is loaded with that stuff...but I have reconned the area very well with the excalibur and made a map in my mind on where to hunt and where not to. Also I marked several of the solid nulls by digging two scoops, there won't be a hole there but the hole will fill with a finer grain sand, which I can tell its softer when I go to dig. This will hold good for about 3 weeks.. One thing I have noticed at other beach's and this one ..seems the crab pot pieces collect in some areas. And my guess is because that's where the cage broke down. I do find strays but they are shallow most of the time and on the move. So far that is my fight against digging those babies.. Mapping out the area, then I'll be going in with the AQ...I'll let you know how that goes. It has worked before at one other location. Good Luck.. -
AQ Golds #23-#24
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Joe Beechnut OBN's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
The broken ring had me fooled when I first pulled it.. But after closer inspection it is rolled gold. (heavy gold plated) Dating it I would say this one is the 1920's...The area I am hunting did not come to life till that time period. I have a few spots I would say late 1800's is possible but that is about as old a area I have hunted. The older locations in the water here are all off limits.. Historical. London Town is one, 1700..Great stuff in the water slowly being destroyed by the Brackish water. -
Today 3 Hours and 23 Minutes. tides were low so I went deep...signals were far and few between for over a hour. Decided to move in a few cuts and things picked up. Plenty of coins which are a good sign. Most signals were in the 12 to 14 inch range in a hard shell, sand , clay mix. All gave good signals and I was kind of surprised how deep some were. No faints today.. other then the few I found hunting out deep. Settings volume 8, all metal, delay 11, sensitivity 6, threshold 4 to 5. ATS 6.... Todays treasure ...one 10k....one 14k..2 silver dimes. Batteries coming along, taking each out for a short hunt...then a full charge and shipping... Have 4 going out this week coming. Should be 4 the following week also, so I will be contacting several of you AQ Pirates' on the details. Think I have a list of 15 and should be able to fill all with in the next month, order 56 more 18650 batteries.....Taking a break after that...

Second AQ Hunt
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to tvr's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Good report TVR, water levels the next few days are really good so I will be out Sunday,.. looks like. I may have close to 100 hours on the "AQ" ..Plus the time I spent testing. After all of this I'm still not confident enough to take the "AQ" to any beach. Hopefully we will see the smaller coil by christmas which I think will help in the trashy area's. How you doing on Pinpointing...And what do you think about the bigger coil swing speed? Interesting to note what someone in our area see's with the "AQ". -

First Impulse AQ Hunt
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to tvr's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
O'Boy there goes the Bay Gold!! 👀 Good report TVR, good to see another "AQ" in the Bay. Up the rivers and coves water is nice and calm and I seen the same with the AQ..you can run it Hot! That brass ring and bottle top is a great sign of the age of the area your hunting. We start to get those NW/N winds water will start to blow out some..
