  1. Thank you! And Best to you on your adventures! Thanks River rat! Thanks Cuniagau! And Good to see the "AQ" in the front lines! I'll be out next week, which machine I take will be based on the water level. Thank you Sir! No silver rings, they get ate up bad, and most just fall a part. Keep on Hammering! Going to be a slow year for me... Thanks to everyone for the Kind words, Be Safe!
  2. Thanks You! Really it's not bad at all, I hate being wet and cold, one thing for sure... either of those and I would not be out during the winter. Market on old class rings...Just the melt value. Most are not in the best condition.
  3. Happy New Years to you RR! That's a good outing with the new machine! And sounds like it punches deep. Not much worse then car issues. I have one right now with my Honda, battery light just came on the last trip out. Years ago I would had no problem putting a new alternator on but seems the older I get the less I want to mess with that stuff. Now to set up a appointment I can't imagine having the transmission going out. 😬
  4. Enjoyed the story, amazing the scent travels 8 miles! Something about a wood fire, seems to awaken something inside of me? Had the fireplace changed over to gas a few years ago, just not the same. One of my first homes had a wood stove, loved it until we had a chimney fire. The pipe was triple wall and that baby was cherry red and sound like a jet engine. Luck had it the house never burnt down but lesson learned. Stop burning pine.
  5. First out for the year, found a spot that has cuts that are over my head. I know how they got there but best I hold on that for now. One thing for sure targets are every where, on the top shelf, down the slope, and in the bottom. Just have to wait for a better tide so I can hunt the whole bottom and not worry about sliding down the slope. Most targets are shallow. First gold was maybe 12 inch's? Going to be interesting to see how long this spots stays intact-ed. I knew something was up and one reason I took the Excalibur for I had no clue on what I would be walking into. I am debating on taking the 8 inch on the "AQ" next trip. Seems to be no trash at all.... Three hour hunt, 1916 Class Ring and 1929 Class ring. 4 Silvers, which are eaten bad by the brackish waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Water is just dipping into the high 30's, full hunt I was toasty but Need to make some adjustments to my gloves, left glove is like wearing a sock.. No mobility.
  6. Amen to that, been say that for years....And the AQ is the machine. I've got spots like that the Excalibur may hit 6 to 8 inch's, I've noticed the AQ hits much deeper.. more like 12 to 14...tough digging thru shells and clay. Both machines in AM.
  7. Yes it does, that was the only short coming. If you set it against the wall it leans on the battery. I did have another design but to complicated to be around saltwater. After a few months it failed due to my fault.
  8. Another "AQ" Lover! And a beauty of a ring to prove it! Two scoops and gold..Love it! You cracked me up with the "Another fan of the Big Battery" Heck, I'm a fan of my own on the big battery. I made a small one I used a few times but the big one seems to really gives me peace of mind?
  9. Got all supplies ordered, most will be here this week. Only hold up is the acrylic rod...maybe by the weekend. I do have enough rod to do a couple batteries so I will make sure I get yours ready ASAP. You wanted the M-8 connector? 11 hour battery or the 5.5 hour? I've miss placed my list so I need to go thru my emails and messages to gather the details on everyone that asked. Another Great hunt Also! And good to see another AQ Lover!
  10. Treasure like that sure gets the blood flowing! Then the memory of the hang...Wow! Don't get much better!
  11. That was a good outing! Open ring is interesting.... And you got to love the new phones, the camera's are amazing!
  12. Yes, no doubt...The Black Widows are excellent.....I use the Peltor 105's / now 3m 31db with "Gel pads"...which the gel pads help a lot. If you look at the chart I posted the shullies 2463's use the same speakers as the Black Window's,... the audiosears 2463's...excellent if you hunt in discriminate . Tones.... I found the Piezo's are better for hunting in All metal.
  13. Kevin anything is better then the stock head phones but I have to say none of the after market phones really float my boat either. Other then Tony Eisenhower's and they are still not up to my standards on volume. Here is a Sound pressure chart I did several years ago on a few sets, the skullies are the head phones I made and use. (Which I no longer sell) But you can see the crazy difference in audio levels.. Hunting in PP with the Excalibur the audio has to be blasting to hear the deep faint targets. If your using stock Yellow head phones your missing targets. And another factor is being able to block out as much (as possible) .... outside noises (ambient noise}. I have my best hunts when the water is calm. I would recommend Tony's headphones for now, but in the distant future there could be a killer set of headphones offered to water hunters. Look at the size of the Piezo compared to what I use in my skullies, which blast. The other guy .. is a monster!
  14. What really makes the difference with the Excalibur's ...are the head phones. You get a good set of head phones on there and "You know what to listen for In PP" .......that Excalibur can not be beat in it's depth. One reason I do encourage everyone to buy the Nox.... Fresh drops, and micro targets. trashy areas...NOX rules. Leave the old deep targets for the excalibur.
  15. Once that stock battery drops below 15 volts the performance starts to suffer. By 14.1 volts it is flashing red. Not to brag but my battery goes strong, down to 12.8 volts. Then it starts to show signs of performance loss, till the red light starts flashing around 12.6 / 12.4
  16. I would say the Nox... Performs, and weigh is very good. Fisher AQ is a Great machine but My opinion, not the do all machine. So it would have to be used in combo with a good VLF machine. And remember when it comes to machines the user plays a big part. I'm using 20 year old BBS technology and do fairly good. My competition uses mostly Nox's, A few CTX's, rare to see PI's...
  17. Cool treasures but I'm digging the ride! Nothing like a Bad Azz pirate ship! I have a couple spots here in the bay that I need to check out, never enough time seems.
  18. Got a friend who hunts the Jacksonville area, I think she may have 11 gold rings for the year. Very slow everywhere even for me.
  19. I'm almost temped to cut one of those battery packs open and see what the heck is in them.
  20. That's a Great Year! I see some real Beauties in there too! And One has to Love retirement!!
