If you want the best that fit your hearing needs you have to make them yourself. These are wired, waterproof headphones for the Minelab Excalibur. Everyone knows how bad the ML waterproof headphones are....So after several years of experimenting and testing I was able to find a combo that allowed me to hear deep targets no one else could. I ended up using Unlimited audio 50mm piezo's that gave me the higher pitch, 2400HZ that fit my hearing then add a unique horn design to amplify the audio for all metal hunting only. Being they work great for me on the excalibur I tried them on the Fisher "AQ" Limited and no doubt they are pushing the limits of unheard deep targets of the "AQ". I did test several speakers / earphone elements and these were the more popular used in Aftermarket metal detecting Head phones. Audiosears higher tone..used in several of the bigger name HP's..Sunrays Pro, Black Widows, then a few of the GG models and if I remember correct there is one set that is made in the UK that uses them also. Then the bass sound of the old Rat Phones...using Kobitones...Many swore by the Rat Phones years ago but now no longer available. I was able to make all of the speakers I tested water proof using a proven method. .

I've found the Fisher AQ weak on silver so I'm not sure how the Terra version would do on land on silver. I have spots (in the water) there are some old coins...... it seems every time I take the AQ I may get a piece of silver, but does good on the Nickels..Then I go thru with the excalibur and it cleans up on all silver (several pieces) and nickels....same spot. The bad about the AQ not hitting hard on the coins ..old deep coins are a sure sign there is deeper gold near. So I need to find the correct area first with the excalibur then come back with the "AQ"..

Little Gold, Little Silver, And Big Copper
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Compass's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
NIce save on the treasures Compass! I'm surprised you don't have the "AQ" yet. Hopefully soon...Dag Convid has slowed all even more.. Like the copper ring, neat design...is the Gator gold? -
Excellent 2 days. You took advantage of the open window and ready for another. đź‘Ť I love memories like those for that's what gets us out there !!

Heck of a day! Big Congrads !! On the 18k I've seen a few fakes similar in design, never seen a 18k that bad but that being said. With so many possibles conditions that can be encountered.... I would say its gold until you get it tested. Keep us informed, really be interesting to see if it is possible 18k could bleed copper like that..Seen 10k do that but not 14 up.. Thanks for sharing and get back out there! Wow!

Yes, 3 silver dimes...Silver count is really low this year. 132 I think.. This spot here has to be one of the strangest. Not many silver coins, but I did figure it out. They had a bath house so I guess they would leave it in there street cloths in the locker. But they did wear the gold. Thanks Joe.........the battery thing is over for now. Just finished the last one till Jan/feb.. then I'll do another 15..then I'm done. I only made them to learn and help a few. I made about 40 dollars off of each. Not really worth it if I were into the money. One reason I stopped doing Excaliburs...I enjoy hunting way more. -

I like that look now that you mentioned it! But I have to be Honest, I probably would have noticed the beauty if I was a younger pirate but seems the old pirate in me only sees one thing.........Yep, no gold on those fingers! -

Thanks Mr KOB! My normal hunt I hit one beach, I can get into area's and spend the full hunt just working thru all the targets in a 20 by 20 foot area. Other places I can't buy a signal, and that's where the AQ seems to shine. Most of the spots I've hunted this year I walk a good distance too... one is 2 miles......Come next year I hope to be back on the program of using my boat and taking a few detectors. Convid and my parents health has kept me limited this year.. Thanks Valens! It was a much needed outing. Amen Hamid! Best to you my friend! You called it TVR! Thank You! -
Scuba Drysuit
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to ALEXANDRE TARTAR's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Buying a drysuit one has to weigh in their plans on what it will be used for...Me, being a cheap SOB, I get mine on ebay. Me.. 175 dollar drysuit off ebay, a 8 ounce tube of Aquaseal, a can of HH-66, 3 seals..neck, 2 wrist..And a Aquaseal YYK plastic zipper......Will get the same results (staying dry and warm) as a drysuit that cost thousands! -

Thanks Mike! I seen you got a whooper cigar band !! Nice save it that! I ended up taking my hat off and strapping it to a tree stump that was exposed from the lowtide. And I did not forget to go get it as I was leaving. Thanks Gary, I got all three on video but have yet to up load the full captures. Trying to take care of things at home and get you guys some extra battery power. Be glad to get the batteries out... Thanks Bill! Hope you are well my friend! Thanks RR, been researching the Masonic ring. Took it to a old guy (91) who is a mason today. He did not recognize the lodge or any other clues. But I knew I was in trouble when he did not grab a set of glasses. But he did well considering. -
Had a real nice Low Monday, Neg .9 ..........the hardest thing. Deciding which beach to hit. Narrowed down to 3, the one I chose is not "AQ" friendly, and at this point I still don't feel safe walking into this spot with a PI...For many reasons. Excalibur was perfect, hunting in PP, using the push button to check targets in Disc, Very fast and efficient. I've been using the "AQ' most of Oct, doing a lot of different testing and forgot how much I love the Excalibur also. Seems I had started feeling if I took the Excalibur I was missing targets. But after Mondays blowout I see it's still a very important part of the team. Walking out at this spot........ water was very low .........I went as deep as I could then started listening for targets and feeling/checking the bottom....... for the good stuff lies in a blackish/grey sandy shelly bottom, ......I started hitting some iron/nulls so slowly worked my way thru each and everyone..3 hours and 19 minutes I had three gold rings..then I went exploring...something I do that kind of helps plans out the next trip. Ended up about 4 hours total, never really found anymore openings...but things are moving. Onto another spot Weds...maybe the "AQ"..⚡ End totals 3 gold and 3 silver dimes...silver badly eaten by the bays nasty water. Stay Safe and Healthy..Joe Short video of the first gold ring found, shows how the wind is whipping .........blowing off shore...water was nasty facing into...

I enjoy digging...It's the anticipation. Dredging......Most public beach's or area's that is consider illegal. That being said I have done mining, digging holes, moving rocks, sifting, using a floating sifter. I've even used a seadoo scooter to blow out areas then metal detect them. At 68 now I just like going hunting, not bringing along a arsonial of things to transport.

AQ Starting To Make Some Sense
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to tvr's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Monday is the day...be ready. looks like a major blow out.. Looking like I was wrong now...Just a good lowtide.. Wait ..looks like it's still on... I need to find a good spot to hunt..unfortunately I think I will be taking the excalibur for I'll be in area's of uncharted hunting. Who knows what will be encountered .. -
Wow! That's excellent.... Thank you for taking the time to test the run time..... I figured about 11 hours. Good to know it's better then I figured. I have 9 done now, (3 shorties - 6 Big batteries) testing each submerged in the water for about a hour. Got two shorties tested already then taking one out thursday.........Will start testing the Big batteries maybe Saturday...Then I'll start shipping Monday.

Mid-depth Interference Fix?
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to cjc's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Several years ago I ran some experiments on the excalibur. It was noisy in rough waters, So I removed the control pod from the water by running it inside my drysuit. The change was like night and day. I was able to use the 10 inch coil with very little noise. The idea has already passed thru my mind, maybe once the warranty is near end. Only thing to do it would be order a stock coil with a longer cable. -
Mid-depth Interference Fix?
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to cjc's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I have to be honest, I just skip that part of the beach when the surf is hitting that area of the connector and hunt it when the tides have changed. Lower (below the connector) or Higher tide...above the connector. Question..How easy does that stuff pull off? -
Sorry I did not speak up earlier. I made a verbal agreement not to speak of the 8 inch coil with anyone except one person at Fisher Labs. The 8 inch coil does not float...Stays on the bottom perfectly without effort if your cuffed to the shaft. Letting go of the detector, not cuffed in, it has a slight, very slow lift. In my words it is "Perfect". No effort is needed to keep it on the bottom while hunting. Moves thru the water like any other small 8 inch coil, very smooth....
-
How bad can a little coil be, I've used several over my short time as a water hunter..Never....a issue when they were small And submersed....My only concern is the price. 15% more power? OOoo..We're going to need a Bigger battery. Thanks for the report Willy, Good to know things are moving. Come on AQ 8 Inch!!

Gigmaster With The AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to vive equinox's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
most modern pins are plated / rhodium otherwise it would rust in the hair. just like the capsules, the 1/2/5 cent coins that are made of iron we detect the tackle! in the video, he never lifts the disc and always goes in the same direction! while from the beginning we repeat it: cross over the target lift the disc so as not to be saturated and listen before you dig! I just did a 4 day trip, I have to edit a video I had to dig 2 pins / with fatigue we are less concentrated and less than ten pultab / while always being in all metals .. not much yellow = 4 wedding rings and a small ring. We can't wait for your video! after he made his first outing, maybe he'll get used to it with time. you are the aq expert! it has another air test comparison video, but i didn't like it, if only for the aq audio with two phones. When you say less than 10 pulltabs, is it that there were few or do you recognize them most of the time? in any case barbara didn’t do her cleaning and erosion job at my place.
