  1. I'm getting so old.......I was messing around Saturday thinking the tide was at 5 o'clock. I go to check the tides at 1:30 and seen low tides were at 3 pm and I had a long drive...OUCH..Late Ended up getting in the water at 2:40 pm..walked out ..first target of the day..Gold Signet. I put myself in the area for the last few times out with the excalibur I have got a few non silver coins from the general area. I ended up working about a 100 foot strip and maybe 20 feet wide..over and over..One thing I have always noticed with the Excalibur, you can get a target from one direction and then spin around And try it from another and it is not there..same goes with the AQ...so I was doing "X" and "O"'s most of the afternoon. And it paid off... I got 9 silvers, several nickels, one a Buff...and 4 gold rings. Something I did notice of late is fresh drops at this spot have increased due to some boundary changes of the community And they are shallow so any target at this beach I have to dig all. Something some may not believe but I never dug one piece of trash this hunt.....other then a bathing suit clip..and a lead bullet.. Also this trip out was to get a final hour count on the battery system I worked up...Total runtime with the tube battery was 8 hours and 31 minutes...(end voltage was 13.1) Not bad at all, I had calculated 7 hours and 46 minutes..glad it turned out better then expected.....(And special thinks to Carolina for tell me how good these batteries are with his MDT's) Seems they will do the trick so I ordered 4 more.. Good Luck to everyone out there ..HH and Be Safe..Joe
  2. My year totals are 66 gold rings, 1 misc..The Excalibur still rocks but the AQ with the new battery system is looking good for now I can hit spots that the old battery might leave me hanging. The virus has slowed things but I still got out at least once a week during that time. Excalibur Gold rings 52 Impulse AQ ..............14 ..and one misc. Some have asked how many of the gold rings would the Excalibur got that the AQ has found......Yesterday, (Saturday's) I got 4 gold rings, the Excalibur would have got (2) I'm sure......... the third I'm not sure (class ring), the forth........(signet)......The first ring of the day ..no way the Excalibur would have found it..Way to deep and faint.
  3. Love the gold! I never knew what your name meant until now.
  4. Thanks Aaron, Miss your video's...You know I was thinking today I would almost bet if that MDT gets the big coil like Carolina is talking about it's going to be right there with the AQ...Very impressive machine. Fisher really gave up a good man on the MDT designer. Be Safe and get us some gold to look at..
  5. Thanks Mike! And I agree, I'll be looking for something and find something I've lost. Mike that Otto Switch lasted two hunt...Gave out today about halfway thru the hunt....23 dollars I figured it would last..IP68 too........... I really liked the fact I could cut the audio totally. I may put a toggle on there since I have a few around. If not I'll go to the yellow push button. On the camera, good luck. I've had nothing but crazy luck with mine of late. Got four gold Saturday, only got one on video..I looked at the Go Pro right as I was leaving the beach. Said USB unpluged...but was still running I though..nope got about 90 minutes of video..I did get the first gold found. I treasure my video as much as finding the gold.
  6. Good Luck and I am sure the list still has openings, thing is ..if the virus does not slow it down even more.. You know i tested the TDI Beach hunter with the 14.8 battery pack against the AQ and the TDI did very well..Average depth difference was about 4 inch's. Which is very good I think and the price was right. . All I can say......... the AQ I have is stunning..,I got a faint today I questioned ..I took 5 scoops without even stopping..then checked..sure enough a target in AM...next scoop Gold ring.. I Love it...think I got that one on video also..post later.
  7. Mike said it! You sure cleaned up..Great report on the rake also... I just got in so I may have get back out there to top that day out!! Your going to love the AQ... 10 hour day, they would be fishing me out of the water if I tried that...😁
  8. I've had many encounters, some good, some police were called...All were in my favor since I came in by water...First few times were a jolt but experience is the great teacher....These are the best words here... Now, have you been harassed while heading out on the water in a public space? My best advice is to keep your cool and to explain the situation to the harassing individual. Law enforcement professionals advise that you do not confront the individuals(s), suggesting that it is best to remove yourself from the situation and then contact the authorities. Make sure that you have a camera ready to document the confrontation, if there is one, as you have the right to take video and photos on public lands and waters. The video/photo material that you gather can be used as evidence, as any harassment on public lands and waters is a possible criminal offense depending on your location. Any interference, including the attempted confiscation of your camera is a serious offense, depending on your state. Be sure to file a criminal complaint with your regional conservation enforcement agency, as they are equipped best to handle and respond to these situations. Seems there as many good people as there are those that think they own the water. I have made several new friends, .........and then those who dislike the site of someone metal detecting "In the water near there homes". You know your good when the (DNR) Maryland Department of Natural Resources knows you on a first name bases. One telephone number that will settle all questions.
  9. Congratulations on the old 22k, a real stunner! ☠️ Good report Clive! I like these words above.. I've been digging (AM) faints only at this one spot. Yesterday the faints were rare to find so I started digging..... (thinking) less shallow targets that gave a good response. Several of those targets were deeper then I thought and good targets. I put a audio cut off on one of my battery systems and the audio on shallow targets are so strong (loud) I can still hear them faintly when the circuit is open (disconnected).
  10. Beautiful Gold ring cuniagau! And I agree on finding that ad for the ring..I looked also, said they can't be to hard to find...Well I never did...Nice find Slim!
  11. Got a small gold ring today testing out one of the battery packs I made for the "AQ" ...2 hours and 50 minutes then I heard thunder...time to high tail it out of the water. Be back out Saturday. Fridays outing ..... 2 silver rings 5 silver coins and a piece of a silver bracelet and one 2.1gram 10k ring....use to be 2.1 grams was 30 dollars..now we are looking at 25 plus dollars for one gram of 10k..where will the gold endup at? I am getting so old..Had the gold ring on video, deleted all the files except the one of showing the battery tube coming out of the water..No clue where they went..Thing I'm going to start wearing a video cam all of the time just to see some of the crazy things that I do.. Good Luck to everyone that gets out...Be Safe.. Notice my audio cut of switch..worked like a charm..except I need to stabilize it better..was slipping around..when switch off and on..the audio.. My ears said thank you..
  12. It fits the style of class rings from the late 50's to mid 70's..then to present, My guess would be the late 60's?
  13. If the dag thing did not cost so much I would take it a part...then the warranty things also. If you shake it you can hear it rattle inside so I know it's rebuild able if it is loose. O well. some day ..I would like to see the 12 packed in there for sure. Add to my little knowledge of batteries......A 12 Pack..👀 Finished off the Samsung 8 pack today, So I have 2 good batteries with plenty of time.. Took the EBL's 26650's out today..2 hours and 50 minutes..voltage dropped 1.2 volts, be out Saturday to see how much I can squeeze out of that pack..hoping 7 hours?
  14. Should have this battery done today if I don't go out hunting. The Samsung 7000mAh battery pod setup.
  15. Let us know the voltage when they run dry also. Since we are using the same batteries be interesting to see if the run times and end voltage are close. Today...start..16.7 Hunt 2 hours and 50 minutes End voltage 15.5 Be back out with it Saturday Saturday start 15.5 Hunt 3 hours 20 minutes End voltage 14.5 Total run time was 8 Hours and 31 minutes..end voltage was 13.1 I may let it run out tonight and see how much time is left..Right now we are setting at 6 hours 10 minutes..I;'ll take that with a smile..have to look up what I figured.. Picture from the start ..what I predicted...think its going to fall short? looking for more then 7 hours..going to be close? See what the end voltage is when the lights start flashing and the AQ is screaming for more.....this thing is a Power hog.
  16. I'm not sure about that web site, those UltraFire batteries are junk..and they have them as #2..??..I've learn best to buy the brand names...Like Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG...anything with fire in the name is a reject from the mentioned brand names, one's that did not pass spec's, and has been repackaged. I'm new to the EBL's but from what Carolina, Dew and looks like AAron says they are good.. https://www.18650batterystore.com/18650-Batteries-s/106.htm
  17. They make magnets for that job....strong little guys... I did notice you can't drop the batteries in ....more of a slowly let them fall, for they will dent the next battery you drop in..(bottom) And they have different sizes for different batteries.
  18. Pjrough those would be a great option for the New "AQ"! I may do another drop in using them, maybe start my Carbon shaft project? Thanks for sharing!
  19. Carolina sent me several pictures I asked for on the MDT. Thank You T!! Then he filled me in on how good the 26650 MDT batteries were, I think Dew did also...Funny he though I was interested in buying a MDT when I asked about pictures.....Steve I think you bought the one he sent me the link on.. Honest, I think fisher should check into the 26650 batteries..No difference in weight from the original battery pack...and unless they can come up with some super 18650's I don't think they can top the EML batteries. So this is how idea's get going, sharing...
  20. The gloves I wear in the winter have the same technology, carbon fiber heating element. I had to repair one of them and when opened it was like..what the heck is this stuff....sure could not use the solder gun on that..so I used heat shrink tube. Worked great. I can hunt water so cold it's almost frozen and still have warm hands, and these are used under my drygloves.
  21. Great Job Steve!! For the price and setup you can't go wrong. Powered up - and no smoke! Love that! We have the same wiring colors. The good, the Brown is Hot, and the Blue is the Neg..Same as the Excalibur's wiring. So it's easy for me to remember.
  22. Thanks cuniagau.. A quick add up. maybe 65.oo dollars. I'll do a break down later to confirm. I'm happy with this first try at a battery but I see a few things I need to change..Let see how this one goes, I can start using it more now that I don't have to worry about the run time. I also slipped in a on/off button for the audio, I'm just as excited about that also.. Good Luck to you, and Be safe..
  23. Very cool you got your first chain! I often wonder how productive it would be to use a rake, but with all the Nox's out here now I just can seem to think they are going to miss much. Then add in the amount of energy needed to pull...to much for me. But..if a place has no detecting during the summer, like a few spots here I wonder if you could get away with it? Maybe I'll try a regular rake first and see how that goes...? Mike Guard what do you think buddy, maybe GP SP?
  24. Finished off the stick battery, All works as should....m=uses stock "AQ" mounts which is nice....next is get it in the water later this week. Painted 3/4 flat black and left a clear area so I can watch it close the first two times out. Will be watching the run time close also.
  25. That's a great hunt, Just seeing those targets I would get back to that spot ASAP..with a good battery. Most of those targets if I am digging I will start digging everything..I bet you don't miss much with the GPX and that big coil. You should break a old battery down and see what Minelab puts in them, can't be that hard to make a similar... I love Doc's Treasure Amps, I used one on my excalibur for a few years pulling out the faints in Pin Point. I ended up replacing it with a set of head phones that were almost as loud, it was all in the piezo's, the piezo plate and the stress on the piezo's that allowed me to gain a much higher DB Level. It's amazing what is hidden in the audio of a detector, specially a All metal machine... Good Luck with all and Be Safe!
