That's a good report Mitchel. That is the whole picture when hunting, knowing what your walking into...and having the right machine for the job. I know things can move around fairly "quickly" when it comes to beach's but being able to get a good idea of what's going on "Now" can help you see a pattern in the future.

Information from Biographical Dictionary of Architects in Canada re: Richard Ough (Colleen O’Marra) December 9, 2013/5 Comments/in Long Branch, Newsletter, Toronto /by Jaan Pill Colleen O’Marra writes with regard to Donna Magee’s comment at a previous post: Under Biographical Dictionary of Architects in Canada: Richard Ough was born in East Gwillimbury Twp., York County, Oct. 24,1841, uncle of John Ought, local builder and hotel keeper at Newmarket. Ough left Canada and moved to California in 1868 to work as a builder and may be related to Joseph Ought (1841-1897) another Canadian-born architect and builder who was active in Sacramento, California. Richard Ough was described as a “gentleman in middle-life, native of Canada”, who was previously in California (17 years), then opened an office in Toronto in 1885. He was commissioned by American developer John Wilkie to plan the Long Branch Grove Resort on Lake Promenade. This was a scheme of 250 wooded villa lots adjacent to a new hotel and a tract of private residences also designed by Ough. His best known work is the Masonic Hall at Yonge and Glouster Street, 1888 (restored in 1972). Ough left again for California in 1892 and moved to Washington, D.C., later to Bathesda, Maryland. Seen a open window to get in a few hours Saturdays late lowtide. Not much day light but second target of the day a old 18k wedding band. Gave a null but I've had some good luck digging them of late so I went for it. About 12 plus inch's down things started sounding good. Not sure how deep it was but did take me about 9 minutes from start to finish. Once home I seen the inscription...Kind of though it said Sept, but after real close inspection I came up with Apil..which I think is April...I can only imagine Richards and Amy's tear's...MY guess it was lost the late 1800's.... Time to get back on the "AQ" Battery Project...been playing to much..

All the places I hunt are open to everyone else but I am wiser then them, I guess? I know when to go, where to go..(the area), I know what to look for when I get there, I know my Excalibur very well, I have the right equipment for the job and I know how to get into beach's that are tough to get to..Then when I have wore those places down I have a boat I can take out to get to even more spots. So really it's a combination of experience, research and ..... Location.......And now that I have the "AQ" it adds more diversity to my hunting. The bottom line, I am Very Blessed... That being said my friend MikeGuard who just joined here is my double. I would say either of us are capable of getting 50 gold rings a year while are closes competition may average 6 a Year.. if that. As far as the number of water hunters (competition)...I would say less then most places. My guess around 50 .. where as a place Jacksonville Florida may have 100's. As far as the area, Chesapeake Bay, Most of the spots I hunt have been closed since the late 60's...It was once the spot to swim...

I remember years ago when I hunted the ocean, that Black sand line was the marker for targets..That is tuff hunting out of the water, I think...In the water I have the support of the water. Out I always though was harder on my body. You did very good I think...3 hours wore me out...and that was ten years ago.

NIce save Mike!! Just to let everyone know, Mike and I have hunted on and off.... together... over the years. Both of us have shared idea's and secrets that set us a part from all of the other hunters in the Bay. If there is gold to be found Mike can find it...Good seeing you here buddy and glad life is giving you more time to get out.... And that spot has to be the hardest I've ever seen to find gold. If not for the "AQ" in there I would never have found any...

Thank You, Think I hunted the lakes twice. The second time I forgot my water shoes so I was stuck to the dry sand so I found nothing but enjoyed the sights...........But the First time... I was amazed how the winds control the water, it was like a mix of hunting the ocean and the bay. Just like all other spots, sand moves...it can be good and bad. Just have to be there when they open. Lucky I got there a few days before the big storm..15 to 17 foot waves..I was out the next day for 6 hours....the big ring was so big I thought it was junk...and I put it away thinking that...Crazy it turned out to be a honker! Metal detecting has been very good to me, In all ways..Very Blessed.

Thank You! I try not think about the bull sharks..😬..I have seen a few fins but we also have skates/rays, so it could have been either. Unless I get bumped I'm ok....but I have left the water a few times in a timely manner. I may have about 20 gold rings over 17 grams..my biggest was on my vacation to Chicago a few years ago...then the most interesting one I think belonged to a US Senator from New York. 18k 21 grams if I remember correct. Short story ..My friend BarryNY on this forum meet the senator at a party and asked if the ring was his, he said no....... but it had his full name on the front..It could have been his and he did not want it to be known to his wife or ...there is another senator out there with the same name missing a US Senators ring. So I got to keep that baby!!

Went back to the spot I hit the 2 gold from Weds...Again did not find gold til later in the hunt, this time it was a good deep one which I am sure the "AQ" would have got very easy. The target was a Null with the Excalibur when I dug the first two scoops, but then as I got closer with the coil the target started to sound good and like a sinker. Once out of the maybe 14 to 15 inch hole it was a nice surprises to see a Big Yellow. Also got in a few more rough looking silvers... Fall hits and the "AQ" is going to be all over this place...Right now ..water is just to deep for me to be getting signals I can't dig...I was chin deep when I dug this gold...Come on Fall! And sorry video is short, to much back ground showing. Best to keep these spots hidden from watching eyes...... No name on the Military ring.......5th INF. DIV. Red Devils...My guess would be WWII or Korea era ...My first 8k gold ring...Gold333 And Jelly fish are out here...No problem for I am fully covered, but I did see a few people swimming....

Rare to find fresh water around here unless it is Private. One reason I do like the Bay...Open to all.. Good luck to your friend! He just needs to get in the water more, My Opinion..that's where your best chances are.. And you are correct on the Land / dirt silver...beautiful it is...... All I can do is clean mine some then send it in...for cash.,

Settings are close to recommended, other then the delay. looks like 9 or 9.5 Where I hunt there are lots of crab pot pieces. When looking for stuff to test the "AQ" and hunting for them with the excalibur.......... I found it's rare for me to find a nail or even a bunch like the setup tested in Alexandre T video's. So I went with what I'm more likely to encounter..random crab pot pieces. I took a (1) to 2 inch piece..bent a little. Even though I consider the "AQ" a PI i'm still very impressed when I've used it in the mute mode. And something to take note of in the video, you get a mute in one direction (from the crabpot piece) and a hit on the gold ring in the other.... Now if I encounter this same reaction I will know to dig.... Also on the warm up period. First thing I noticed . While airtesting I noticed the threshold was slowly climbing...Got that on video some where, think I took note it was 15 minutes and needed adjusting twice during that time.

Been a week or more since I've been out. Had family in town then the tides have been insanely high with the Storm Faye coming up the coast...But watching conditions get a little better Monday then Tuesday I could not set another day out. Four hours today............ two gold rings, both came in the third hour after working another area I felt was better...but only held silver. Excalibur got the call today for the "live buoy's system" web site was down.....been nice to have had the "AQ" for going into the third hour the water was like glass!

Want to use the stock mounting system.. Still have to trim the clear tube, next will be carbon fiber tube..29mm ID ..would had been easier just to cut all up but to keep warranty machine must stay intact-ed. Replacing the shaft with Carbon then making the rear to fit the battery tube. Which would be 32mm CF piece 12.5 inchs / 317mm long section. With the handle and cuff.. NO wires...except the M-12 fitting out the rear for the Head Phones. Steve this set up looks like a picture you posted a few weeks ago on the battery..
