  1. Can you tell I own a Excalibur... Going to do a shorty of this version next.. 4 cell only, May try the new Samsung 3600 cells...Hoping to get 6 hours.. Seems ....after talking to a few AQ owners most want the drop in 26650 battery setup. Parts coming but the USPS is slower then Molasses.
  2. You may know my buddy Steve Noga,......oldtimer... still a Authorized Fisher Repair center ...Now in Charleston S.C. ... owner of Rebel Metal Detectors.. Amazing,... he still has parts to fix many of the old fishers. http://www.rebelmetal.com/
  3. Sorry Corrected.......that should be ........ I'll see how the 8 does... No order forum, there are a few ..One I do know of and I am sure he would love to get his hands on the AQ, but he has some years on him. Then add in the virus thing...which complicates everything.
  4. My opinion ...... I think the 8 inch will be perfect in the water for most. ....reason, coil control, swing speed. then being able to use "More" of it's Raw power. And I believe it would be the smallest usable size that would help others in high salt area's and still be a decent size to swing.. Anything bigger is taking a big chance. Once all of this stuff has settled Dew .............. I'll see how the 8 does I "may" have a 10 made...
  5. Good Job Compass, Beautiful gold! And Amen to the above!
  6. I was thinking the 1919 penny was from the time period when they may had put the wedding date or something romantic written inside. Water has been bad here for about a week now....I see a opening for you to catch up...Don't let it rest!! Put the 🔨..down!
  7. Every beach is different so I am sure your right where you hunt. And I agree, when you got that small coil it seems like your swinging a hockey puck. Those were my thoughts walking out the door with the small 7.5 excalibur coil.....😬..But for some reason I did fairly well with it........So the size you think would be best for you would the 9.5?
  8. I would like to see a 9 inch but for the purpose of making the machine useible in adverse conditions I think the 8 would be safer. I don't think it is to small for I remember years ago when I did hunt the ocean..... the Excalibur 800 with the 7.5 inch coil did as well as the stock 10 on finding gold. But one thing for sure,..... in my head I always wanted to grab the 10 first thinking it would be better..
  9. That's a deep one! I'm not sure if a stock excalibur could get that deep or not. I know once I get down so far I can judge the size of the target (In PP) with the excalibur but yet to master that with the AQ.
  10. His words... Not a single coin today. The caps should not have been there. Things are moving now I guess. Ozark trail knife in good shape. Four other Hunters there. No gold for them. Times are tough. Chain is 14k...
  11. No doubt it is the saltwater and current, my Excaliburs are not stock and I run both Hot and they make all the same noise with the 10 inch coil as the AQ....... The AQ acts just like my excalibur but at a much stronger audio. I go out for a hunt with the excaliburs and I know I am going to be fighting the surf........ I'll take the little 8...And it calms the effects of saltwater...........I am sure the same will be with the AQ...just needs a smaller coil for rushing/rough salt water. If you look at all of the Eric Foster water machines they run small coils ....Barracuda is the same.... I'm very happy with the 12.5 but will welcome the 8 inch for sure.... I guess the loss in depth due to the small coil can be made up by being able to run the AQ Hotter...going to be interesting for I run my AQ in the water between 8 and 11 delay ..Come on 8 Inch!!
  12. I think your correct, Feel, connection, in the zone, knowledge of.....not sure what you would call it but it does make a big difference. Seems here every beach is different but can show the same characteristic from time to time. So you have to go in with the mind set of what you know and ready to learn more. Like my friend Tom said, there is a Art to it.
  13. Dug every signal no matter if I thought it was good or bad. Tone mode. Quarter's grunt, dimes a mid tone, pennies mid tone, nickels high tone, hair pins high tone and some double tone. Sparkler high tone, clippers high wide tone, piece steel? high tone, double tone, brass screw high tone, medallion high tone. Two targets to deep in the wash to retrieve. His words, It's going to be awhile before I set this one down. "I think" we have another AQ Lover...😍
  14. Looked them up, If I found them I must not have know. Different then what I found... That's cool that you found one from the Bay.
  15. I think I've dug a few but I hate to say the went into the junk pile and maybe the trash. You will have to post a picture...seems they are like a small band... crimped ?
  16. That is so true, I'm very blessed to have the sense of where to look and what to listen for at the beach's I hunt. I can't tell you how many times I 've taken others......... they may pull up something like a lead toy or something that tells me that area has potential. My next trip back with out them I'll get in there and get gold. Last year I took my friend Mark to a spot, put him in where I had found old coins and told him I was going looking around. So I went out deep and just searching found a few silver coin........ Unfortunately....Mark found nothing but junk. The next day I took Mr Ed...Same place...turned him loose and said I'm going deep to look around....Poor Ed found less then Mark..I got a few more silver coins and a gold band. It hit me then I was onto something, And I would go back the very next good lowtide...That Sunday all looked good...and it was the start of a 36 gold ring July 2019..As of this past March the 13th I had got over 130 gold rings from that spot...Boom..... storm comes in around March 15th, I think..Gone...It was great while it lasted. This spot I really went out of my way to hide..The gold was fairly shallow...And hopefully someday in my life it will open again.....Now I have the AQ, see how that goes this winter.
  17. Here is my buddy Tom..Great ocean hunter. Found one of the biggest gold rings I've ever seen 103 grams 14k a few years ago in OC... He came for a visit in 2015, we had a great time...40 years of hunting experience with hundreds of rings found during those year. And keep in mind he hunts the ocean..OC Md.. He was out of his territory...So he had a hard day in the bay...Picture is my hunt..
  18. Most I bring along have been hunting many years...So they have the latest detectors but i would call some fresh drop hunters.......their were a few I did bring that knew what to listen and how to hunt very good but not being in their comfort zone, places they know really makes it harder. Jim in Ma is one, that's on here, very good hunter..(Mike Rocked that day on Jim's visit, I struck out) Then... I've had Casper along also, most of the New England hunters know very well what I am speaking of..it more or less the guys that hunt the ocean..walk out and dig hunter that have a hard time. It's just a different type of hunting then they are use to...You put me on one of your beach's and I would be lost and only able to find gold if I got my coil over it... It would take a book to explain but a short answer would be, you can't just walk out and expect to find any targets here. You have to know what to slow down and listen for..then you have no clue where it will be on this 1000 foot by 900 foot out stretch in the water...and it is possible there maybe a open area then there may not be. Targets are going to be signals that are so faint you really have to listen...Then you add in the water conditions, winds and other noise........ The "one" ..........Mike Guard does Very well also, we speak the same language when it comes to hunting the bay...I see Jimpugh posted some words I really recognized...Ghost signals...signals you really have to say..was that a signal? That's what we listen for...because there are no others. Let me find a post by a hunter I took before...40 plus years of hunting experience..he was ready and pumped up......went home with a nickel and a sunburn.
  19. Thanks Buddy, I would like that name for sure I just have to keep hitting the Bigger one's. We have close to 80 beaches in the Bay, most are closed now but offer some kind of treasures. What sizes and styles of gold I dig is based on locations. Seems beach's back years ago were more segregated. Also the time period and the wealth of the area has shown to affect what type of gold I find. Just did a quick check on size, seems I have 7 that are under 2 grams....for the year. Your more then welcome to visit, I've taken many hunters out the last 6 years. (Maybe 30+) And not to brag but only one has shown me he could find the gold I find....Mike Guard.....In fact both of us have learned from each other. And really I would have a hard time going to another body of water and finding treasure unless I did it on a regular bases or just pure luck. I feel knowing the beach's you hunt has a lot to do with how well one does. Thanks RobNC! Been detecting 12 years, about 6 years of it was Ocean hunting while I was still working. During those years I was researching the Chesapeake Bay.....then once retired I left the Ocean and started using my research of the bay. Been hunting and Learning the Bay 6 years now .....the only problem is being in the right spot, and as the old saying goes...One door closes and another opens. It's up to me to find it...I feel I have the best combo for the job.. 4 modified excal's....and the AQ...Then add Being Very Blessed in many ways.. ..I could not ask for more.
  20. I'm not sure on that trick. I know he is on this forum and will read. Maybe he will send me the recipe on how to. And yes on Deb, hopefully she will post on here her experince with the AQ for she hunts in the same area as you and Dew I believe.
  21. Posting for a "AQ" owner who would like to remain anonymous for now. Hunts on the East coast of the USA. Saltwater.......First time out with his new machine. Got a 14k today. Ran smooth except in front of one area that has a lot of emi. Keep the coil under water there not bad at all. I could run 7 u's no problem but preferred 9. Battery lasted 3 hrs 5 mins. All metal and Tones mods used.7 nickels 8 pennies 2 ear rings 1 Bobbie pin 1 swivel 1 paper clip 1/2 spoon some brass 1 14k 1 tiny tiny brass piece of fish hook 7 u's two full scoops deep so I say 10 to 12 inches. 3 caps fooled me. I can't answer questions on this hunt but just goes to show his experience with the beach's he hunts and with a Pi shows.
  22. Thanks Aaron! Honestly, that maybe the only reason I found it where I did, it being 11 grams, deep and in sand mix only. The excalibur hits deep on bigger gold rings, it's the ones that are smaller it is weak on once you get down deeper. Keep up the good work my friend! And Good Luck if you get out...
  23. Very Welcome Sir and Thank You for your service. A very tough job to have in these times, Prays for you and the rest of the Hero's. Anytime just ask I will send you video's, I do capture most of the stuff on video, and only share now and then.. I think you will like the T.E. Headphones...They seem to be clearer and crisper on the audio then the Stock and GGA's. One advantige I have using the Skullies I make..You can hear the details which really adds to the Threshold. Good Luck!! Haha..No swamp grass. Just good old Yarn, I remember that was the thing in late 60's and early 70's..Girls used yarn.. Yes the fit all was gold except the spring which was brass or SS..been awhile since I sold it..got 40 dollars for it. Gas money. Thanks Buddy, Hope all is good. I love all of the old silvers but your right, the barbers and walkers are very special. Luckly this is one of the better one's I've pulled.
