Who Are The All Time Greats In Jewelry Hunting?
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to mn90403's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Here are a few locals, Bob and Frank.......who hunted the same beach's I do now. Back then it was not uncommon for a hunter to find 7 or more gold rings a hunt. For me to find that many gold rings in a hunt is tough..my best was 8 this year, in one hunt..Rare for sure. I do have one more guy who hunted even before detectors, diving...and by sight. (Harry)...He would find 30 or more gold rings a hunt..more later on him. Hide....I guess I do in a way .......for Joe Beechnut is ... not my real name...As far as a legend, I don't see myself as...I'm just Blessed to be in the right spot at the right time...it's that simple. -
Excalibur Gold...#56 For The Year 14.74 Gram

Thanks Compass!...Yes one of my Hot machines, stock coil for I love that I can run the numbers higher using it. My Skullie head phones, which are extremely loud..in compare the GGA, or Tony's head phones, those run around 91db................the skullies 105+db's, So I can hear things others can't. And I have a few other modifications to the PCB and having the push button on the grip to go to disc to check the target, then back to all metal hunting....But really the big factor is I have done the research over the year and I stay in contact with the beach's l hunt. So I know there history and ......I can't say I can predict them but I have a good feel for them? And let me add, I'm Very Blessed. :) -

Thank You!.........12 years now, closing in on 800 gold rings. -
Seen a opening to get out today but just not the right spot for the "AQ' yet. Come winter I see the "AQ" getting a real good work out here. Today I took the excalibur for I was not sure what conditions I would be walking into. Working in close first nothing..... but Iron and trash..dug a few pieces and decided to go deep, still not a lot of targets. Slowly working my way deeper and parallel to the beach about 600 foot out...shoulder deep I got a couple nickels kind of shallow (2 scoops) then slowed to the snail's pace...Got another signal, broken but being I just got two nickels I'm going to dig all...3 scoops, maybe 12 inch's deep ..surprise...Gold.

AQ Modulated Audio?
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Gman's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Welcome! To the forum.. Yes, deep targets are just a glitter ...as your getting closer.... they get stronger and stronger. Also I am still learning but you can size, and shape out the targets. The only one's that throw me off are shallow, but lifting the coil does help and Using the edge of the coil can be a big help on sizing shallows also. From air testing and experience I can just about tell how deep a target was once out of the sand. From the size and the very first signal I got.. Shallow micro targets will throw you off, but a kick of the sand or one scoop will tell you if there will be more scoops. What machine are you using now and how..water..sand? -
That is some beautiful Treasures and Old!! Very NIce! Love the 1937 Class ring!! Wow! I used the Infinium at this spot and the DF with very little luck, both had issues with the High Power lines being close. Mike and I even did some sifting at this spot..just digging and filling the sifter then checking with the excaliburs. It has been hammered hard..I had this place on the map for a few years now, just waiting for the right machine...The AQ is perfect there and I can smell more gold...

GaryC is correct, I bet we see less then 1% of the hunts like yours, and everyone has them..I consider every hunt no matter how bad or good to be a body thing...Staying in shape mentally and physically.

That is very nice! Surprised the lady of the house has not grabbed it...Congratulations!!

The AQ does have a sensitive area, just like my excalibur with the coil change fitting and the Garrett Infinium LS...... ..right around the coil connector...So in rough or splashing waters your going to hear every little splash (falsing) . I have learned on the excalibur to time my hunting to when the tide will be right below or above. Either the water will be below the sensitive area or above...nothing right at...and now the same goes for the AQ..Come Aug I will do at least one trip down to OC MD ... Also around any rough waters at the ocean I would not take the AQ..I've been knocked down to many times to know this is not the CZ21...The Tank.

Thanks Buddy.........Funny he found the silver ring I lost last trip there that I dug with the AQ..So he ended up with 4 sinkers and a bottle cap..and the silver ring. This spot has been hammered since the 1980's .I've invited many here over the years just to see what kind of hunters they are.....Hunting it with any detector besides the AQ will prove a waste of time... And yes, the coil is getting hits from the scoop..I am working on a set of head phones that I can turn on and off fast to save my hearing.., the AQ can be noisy also when your putting it back in the water after being on top of the sifter..it's adjusting to the "change in something" (I forgot) I was told..but as soon as it is on the bottom..almost silent.. I invite Cygus tester here also, but nothing yet..

Honestly I though so also but I will share more on this later..Turns out it is a easy as the Excalibur in PP... I need to finds some shallow clear water to show. Three different styles are require, Swinging...Pumping of the coil ..then the edge of the coil...I will try and do a good video on that...

Out yesterday for the first time in a while. Went to a spot that has been Hammered so much by every water machine made... it really is hard to find anything good. I took a friend to this spot last year, his words.."I hate this place" I will never come back here again...And the reason is......... it's lacking targets of any kind other then shallow trash or fishing sinkers freshly lost......and being up a cove there is little to no sand movement. So if there is anything good it is going to be deep. Someone asked a few weeks ago about buoyancy I want to make a correction on something. Yesterdays hunt I took and let the AQ float on the surface in calm water...and this is without the cuff on my arm..the rear does sink fairly fast...needed to correct that information... Also the Nox really drives the AQ crazy..I could hear it coming like a helicopter off in the distant's..

It's Ok......I said Sad......,. 🙂 I was sad it drained down..It was a trick getting the hole deep enough then filling the tube from the incoming water...and trying to get the pvc back in the hole before in caved in.. I had hot glued the bottom of the tube...the reason it was still about hafe full i was less then 10 foot from the water.. As it sets right now I'll be cutting back on all testing and getting back on track hunting. hope get some digs of gold on video...After this evenings hunt..I am very proud of my AQ...It's freaking deep...and loves gold..video coming..

Cell Phone And The AQ
Joe Beechnut OBN replied to Joe Beechnut OBN's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I remember being out late one night and way off in the distance you could see the strikes, then you would hear it in the CZ20 almost that moment..I had a oldtimer tell some of the best hunting was when a storm was going on off in a distance..Often wondered ..I know I found no gold that evening. -

Thank You, and sad I did fill it but it drained down to about half way. I was surprised there was that much in the tube when I pulled it and dumped it out. I Should have got that on video but it was unexpected. One note to pay attention too. The higher the ATS the less depth of the gold..So set at 8 you may loose another inch...Just something I noticed as I was playing with the settings on a few other gold rings. I'm Still learning the reject modes so Starting July I have decided to slow on the testing and do more hunting. No better way to learn the "AQ"..... And Many Thanks to all for the positive replies, Joe
