  1. Yes.......... I would be giving up some, my guess is about 4 inch's but the amount of noise from a small coil would be so much less in the rough salt water it will make a huge difference. So you figure I get 19/20 on a nickel...it would go to 14/15..but then again we are in un-charter territory........... could be better.
  2. I was going to ask him to make me a custom one for I know he has made a few in the past. But since Fisher is moving forwards with it I will hold on that message.
  3. Wow! That is Great News..Thank You! I was in the middle of type a message to Alexander T on maybe getting a 8 or 9 inch made...I still may but I know he is a busy man, so I don't mind waiting.
  4. Skullies ...Not made for diving unfortunately, (water resistant) and maybe not the best for the faint of hearing. Honestly, I don't think the AQ needs any help on the audio...I was considering a Audio amp, like Doc's Screamer but it would do more damage then good and that was before I had my "AQ"..So I think you will be fine with the stockers. I just like pushing things to there limits.
  5. Three very short video's of the audio. First is my scoop getting to close to the "AQ" and this can be fixed by turning the audio off as soon as I move the AQ to the right and not turning it back on till I'm Pinpointing again. Second video is...I've moved the Aq to the right to get away from the scoop as I am digging but there is a target .......right there so I have to lift the AQ up to keep it from giving me a blasting signal from a shallow target. I have the same thing with the Excalibur but it's bearable..AQ the audio is intense! Third video is....common with the TDI and AQ,,, as the AQ is going into the water it makes a swooping false...(It's adjusting to the conditions) ...........twice as loud as the TDI... ...once the coil is level its fine... ..........just trying to make my hunting experience more enjoyable with the on / off switch. Also notice as I lean it on it's side which makes it smoother.
  6. It's the shallow targets that get me, and I guess you would say its a combination of the headset I use and the AQ's steroids volume. I use the same set of head phones with my excalibur and it is noisy also but not as intense. I'm very surprised no one else has had the issue of setting the coil to the side when they dig and getting blasted by a stray shallow target. I'll go thru my hunt the other day and see if I can find what I am talking about. I did consider what Cliff had mentioned, the volume adjustment but then you loose the faint signals. Give me a few hours and I'll get a video up...
  7. Yes, have to have a poly fuse. .........I like these BMS modules they have a fuel gauge plug. Just have to see how much room I have once I get all together and maybe do a add on.
  8. With the red batteries........ no...they can come out and will be put on a charger then another set dropped in... the other 4s2p yes
  9. Love the gold cross...And the old Silver came out nice!
  10. Above being said.................. the one problem I have with the "AQ" it's audio blasts when I move the detector to the side to dig and there is another shallow target under/near the coil........ I mean it is loud, and since I use the head phones I make (skullies) which the DB rating (sound level) is 15 plus over anything out there..............I get blasted if the "AQ" comes near the scoop, moving it a side to dig.... hitting another target..Or the AQ going back into the water......Not complaining, just one of my things that I've not seen anyone else talk of.... that I can fix..while I am making a battery for it. IP68, Bulgin On/Off...
  11. Yes, Know Mr Max well..Good Guy with some good video's..........I need to get back down there and pay him another visit...been several years now. And I do remember that titanium scoop, much like the starv's scoops...... it was detectable...Very nice too. I had a friend who made me two titanium scoops in 2013?. Cost me 350 dollars for two, material and water jetting..then labor. Broke one and still have the other....titanium is nice but for the cost I prefer the SS. Titanium is not something you can hook up the MillerMatic and weld, takes a very skilled Tig welder..which I am not.. Your friends Scoop, very nice work ........
  12. Thanks Willy, Sorry if I was tough in anyway. I get fired up thinking about this stuff and want to start chopping things up and making changes. Everyone see's things different and being a hunter that is out there I see things that work for me, but have to understand everyone has different views and needs. Thanks for being here and helping as much as you can...Very Appreciated.
  13. That is a nice looking scoop and perfect for those that do less time at the beach. And for sure the price is right. I did not mind paying 225 for my 720 several years ago..., since I hunt several times a week ...... it's been long paid for and was a real good investment for me, I did later buy the carbon fiber handle which was up there also. But I do have a few places I have to walk a mile to get in the water, hard at first spending the cash but now I see it was a good idea. ....I wish all the things I have purchased over the years were as good investments..here is one of my digging tools that was not.... . think i've got 5 small gold using the blower. I do need to try more, only had it out 15 times....if that but really must be the right spot for use.
  14. Enjoyed the Video..And another Good outing!! If I were closer I would make you a sifter. I was thinking he is fine without until you hit the clay. Good Luck and continue the Mission!
  15. Setting here now watching three spots very close...Low is around 5 pm....North or NW winds needed at two of the spots, the third is the last resource and looks like it may have the lowest tide. One gets the calling of the AQ, the other two the Excalibur. Decision will be made at 1 pm... Looks like the "AQ" gets wet.... Three hours..........Now Home, ........Bleak is the word. ..think I dug 6 targets.
  16. When I made head phones several years ago I got some coiled cables in that were tight and were only 3 foot. I though I got a deal at 3 dollars each but when I seen them I figured 10 for the trash can...But I got looking at them and the were so tightly coiled I did the same thing you did, but one step further. I headed them with the heat gun...after about two runs with the heat gun they were 4 foot long and looked perfect..with lots to spare. The things we do to customize are machines!!
  17. You got out and was able to play some ...........that is all that matters. I think one reason I do well is most of the spots I hunt are 30 minutes average travel time. When you have a two hour drive you have to take what your served, I get bad conditions I just go somewhere else or go home. Your time is coming, Fall- Winter- then Spring.. 💪
  18. That's a lot of hunting and nice to recapture one that got a away. I hate unsolved mysteries when it includes something you just had in your hands............ I don't mind loosing a silver but it kills me when I loose a gold. I lost three gold rings last year. And only found one. One got knocked out of my sifter by a wave, gone. Second and third got stuck to my gloves ..........they were small...though they went in the pouch but they came back out with out me noticing......... Only found one of those and I recognized it right away. This time making sure It got in the pouch and zipped up.. All it takes is one hunter in the area and for sure he could find it, I lost a silver ring a month ago, hunting with the AQ..took a friend back to the spot..........he found it...I was glad, ................. it solved the mystery and he got something.
  19. Since no one picked a 9 inch............... I'll call out for that, but at this point I'll take a 8--9---------10 is pushing the limit on swinging the coil in the water. I've noticed that it's hard to get the 12.5 up to speed in rougher waters. And with a smaller coil there will be a lot less resistance...........noise.........and better coil control......So 8 or 9 for me...
  20. I've already did that.....Several years ago I was experiencing lot of noise in "rough" salt water hunting with the excaliburs I used. Solution ..completely remove from the saltwater...I started running a longer coil cable with the Control pod and connections "under" my drysuit. So the only thing exposed to the rough conditions was...the coil cable coming from my drysuit, then the coil...........It was like night compared to day............Almost total silence in some bad conditions. See if I can find the pictures of me using and the setup. I will have to find the post from last year when I envisioned the same with the AQ... One reason I need more then one AQ..
  21. What I do and this is the same with the Excalibur in PP....and Now the "AQ" .............you come across a faint ..stop..tune the machine for the very best response. Then the same with the very next target until you feel you have the greatest depth possible at this beach . Amen to that Jim, how many times have you stopped...for that one way signal or even a ghost signal...dug a scoop..still not sure, then dug another ...and there is this faint hint of a target in the corner of the hole.
  22. I don't mind it, it's something I've adjust my hunting to ... tides make it possible..............one reason I have become a hunter who watch's the current and predicted conditions very close..
  23. I'm sure there are a lots of little details but that's what it takes to stay ahead of the competition.. Take note once my warranty is over and if this virus thing does not get me, I will build a unit similar to the picture (I tweaked) out of Carbon fiber.
  24. My Opinion...........They better move up with something more modern....more of a Carbon fiber look. ....And I don't think four 18650s are going to do the job, I'm thinking more (4) 26650's inline ..same battery the MDT uses..the new Fisher needs at least 8 hours hunt time to cover these young guys and who have endless energy, and not have to walk back to the car to change the batteries after 5 hours....And for the Old Goats like me have a insert that holds the (4) smaller (less weight) 18650 batteries.....I need to work for these guys....second though I enjoy hunting more.
