  1. Very interesting and a little surprising , it looks like from the 2 videos that the Versa is the winner of the test with a clean and clear signal on the Mercury at 10inches .. While the Manticore signal is weaker and a little scratchy and the Legend behind the 2 others . Of course it is just one test and this needs to be confirmed with other targets , for example bigger coins like a 10g coin for example ... Hi Slavomir , you have tested the Versa , do you confirm this depth difference between the Versa and other detectors ? thx
  2. No pb Bob ... As Jeff said we both have had issues with our Apex ( both electronics and mechanical issues for me ) . It looks like you ve been more lucky than us ... πŸ™‚ I hope that Garrett has solved them now because I like the Apex design with its slim control box . I like light detectors and the Apex is very cumfortable to use with the excellent Ripper coil .. It is very user friendly too .. I like simple things too and I agree that the D2 is complex with its 12 modes , multiple submenus and settings/subsettings .. Hopefully we have Gary Blackwell's videos/tutos .. πŸ™‚
  3. Same for me I am impressed by the Versa , a mercury is a small coin ( 2.5g ) and detecting it at 10inches-25cm is an excellent result. Curious to see how a D2 ( and other detectors ) would perform on this test ... Just to know if there is a real depth difference between the Versa and the others ...
  4. 3x ? Not exactly .. Here are the local ( French ) prices : Garrett Apex : 549 E XP Deus2 WS6 master : 899 E ==> 899/549 = 1.6x https://www.metaux-detection.fr/fr/
  5. Hi , I agree with kac , I dont understand what makes the D2 not relaxing for you .. The D2 is much lighter ( 850g for a D2 WS6 ) than a T2/F75 ( 1.7kg ) or even a Legend ( 1.4kg ) .. For me this single thing means much more relaxation , at least for my arm and shoulder .. πŸ™‚ I like the T2 audio too , but its design dates from 2005/6 and either its electronics or mechanical design are outdated for me after almost 20 years .. It is very easy to use a Deus2 if correctly set . Have you tested the TEKKNA program ? It is based on SENSITIVE nr3 and I think it would be great for your local conditions with high iron trash ..
  6. I found the distance between armcuff and the handle to be too short for me on the lite as I am tall . And this distance cannot be modified as it is a single molded part. I prefer shafts where the armcuff handle distance can be set to my preferences, like on my Quest Q30 mod shaft.
  7. I would buy one with an integrated li ion battery which is much more reliable than AAs or 9Vs and lasts (much) longer . Nokta Accupoint , XP MI4 , Quest Xpointer Max
  8. TEKKNA FOREVER .. Two days ago we went out for a militaria outing with my cousin on a 1stWW German camp. We had hunted this area in 2012 2013 and never been back again . Curious to see if we could still find things there 12 years after .. I have my trusty Deus2 WS6 set on Tekkna , my cousin has a Deus1 WS5 with a slightly modified Basic1 program. This camp is quite large , the Germans have built many wood houses here, probably several hundred soldiers were living there .The ground is infested with irons of all sizes, it should be ideal for the Tekkna program. Not very lucky at the beginning with just a few basic buttons . Tekkna works very well though and it filters very well the ferrous . Half an hour later a clean high tone signal and a big button . It is a sergeant major button with a Prussian eagle on it , wow what a nice find ... πŸ™ƒ When detectecting you very often find unexpected things ... A few minutes later I hear a medium tone , probably a 1st WW rubbish .. No it is a Roman coin lol .. An other very nice find .. πŸ™‚ My cousing will find a splendid helmet eagle a little later with his Deus1. πŸ˜‡The D1 is still an excellent performer in the iron trash .. I will find 3 other coins , a French 1920 , A German 10 pfennig 1876 and a very nice French Revolution coin dating from 1800. The Revolution coin was deep with a faint high tone signal and my Quest Xpointer Max helped a lot to locate it at the bottom of the hole. I have used my Xpointer Max almost all the time during this outing btw .. After 3 hours detecting its time to go home . It was a great outing in a very nice area during a sunny day of Spring .. Looking forward to come back here again .. 1) The wood : 2) A Prussian sergeant major button : 3) A Roman coin : 4) A French revolution coin located with my Quest Xpointer Max : 5) My cousin with a Prussian helmet eagle and his Deus1 WS5 : 6) The sergeant major button after cleaning : 7) the roman coin after cleaning , Aurelianus , date around +260 8 ) 10 pfennig 1876 : 9) The French revolution coin after cleaning ( AN 8 , 1800 ) :
  9. Then Alexnov , what is your opinion about the Xtrem hunter ? Doest it work well ? thx
  10. May be this antique mirror will wake you up .... πŸ™‚ Sorry I couldnt resist ... It is a very rare artefact btw ..
  11. The Vanquish coil set has 3 elliptical coils ( no round coil ) : - V8 = 8X6 ( round 7 equivalent ) - V10 = 10X8 ( round 9 equivalent ) - V12 = 12X10 ( round 11 equivalent ) They all work very well , especially the V10 ( very light with depth perfos identical to a 9 round from my measurements ) , it is the Vanquish V340 and V440 stock coil . I like elliptical coils because they are more compact than a round coil . For example they are easier to put in a rucksack. Elliptical coils have a good iron separation because of their reduced width , and a very good ground coverage because they are longer than circular coils
  12. I entirely agree the Score stock coil is too big for general hunting . For me a round 9 inch coil ( or elliptical equivalent ) is the ideal compromise for inland coin/relic hunting , still compact size and very good depth . Unfortunately no 9" or equivalent elliptical ( 10X7 ) coil is available for the NM Score. And the SC24 ( 25 X 14cm ) is too small for me . I would be interested by a DScore if it had a 9"coil . ML did the same error with the Equinox a few years ago btw , hopefully Coiltek released a 9" coil for the Equinox later. Fortunately ML released the Vanquish 340 and 440 with the excellent 10X7 coil . As far as I know the Vanquish 340 is a best seller May be we will have to wait 2 or 3 years before Coiltek release a 9" coil for the Scores ? ... 🀐 Sometimes I wonder if the MD's companies managers and marketing people go in the field to test or simply try their detectors ...
  13. Must be an headache to choose the right one before going detecting .. πŸ™‚ I would spend more time choosing than detecting lol ... πŸ™‚
  14. It works well but you need to press it down quite strongly ( too strongly ) to start or stop the pinpointer πŸ™„. At least the pinpointer wont accidentally restart when in the holster ... πŸ™‚
  15. The Quest Xpointer Max has a li/ion internal rechargeable battery like the Accupoint. I like it , it is very reliable . I just dont like its very stiff on/off button ..
  16. Yes nice video with a beautiful landscape , thanks ...
  17. Hi F350, Thanks but I am not a great fan of the XP stock shaft ,I find the arm cuff too small and too close from the handle . And for some reason I prefer straight shafts . This is why I was thinking to use a Simplex+ shaft ,if I can find a cheap one in the classifieds ..
  18. I found this on the Nokta site . Interesting as it can be put in a rucksack .. https://www.noktadetectors.com/accessory/nokta-premium-shovel/
  19. Hi Basstrackerman , I plan to use a Simplex shaft for my D2 too ... I like the rectangular shape of the Nokta shaft system , which prevents the stems by design I have a question , what did you do to adapt the Simplex lower shaft coil connector to the D2 coil connector ? They are very different ... thx ...
  20. Be careful about the detectors weight . Those old detectors have still performing electronics , but the electronics miniaturization has reduced the weights and recent machines can be much more cumfortable to swing than the older ones .. For example a Whites spectrum weighs 1.6+kg , an Equinox1.3kg and A Deus2 WS6 800g . Then there is a big difference between them if weight/detecting cumfort is important for you... It is something personal , some dont care about weight . Personnaly I do
  21. Hi , You should read the law of the country where you plan to detect because the laws are very different depending on the country In France detecting is allowed at the condition you are not looking for archeological artefacts. Of course detecting is forbidden on archeological sites . Personally I always ask the authorization to the landowner and I never detect on archeological sites
  22. I dont like the detector audio , the signals on targets are very elongated and lack of accuracy and the detector is chatty . This is the feeling I have from this short video . Would have to be confirmed by field tests . On the other hand I like the detector mechanical design with a nice CB and telescopic shaft. I dont think its a stolen software because I think such softwares are very complex , probably several thousands of source code lines , and it would take months(years?) to understand and master it . I think that it is much faster to redevelop something from zero than trying to copy , understand and modify such complex softwares. Yes it looks like a Legend , but the Legend looks like an Equinox etc ... They all copy each other . It is the same thing for other products like smartphones , computers etc .. Opening windows on a computer screen was an idea from Apple copied a little later by Microsoft for example . Who remember this ?
  23. One more outing with Tekkna . A militaria outing proposed by my cousin Francois . He is a 1st WW specialist and he has A Deus1 , it was a good occasion to go out and appreciate a sunny day of Spring .. 2 nice finds for me, a St George medal perhaps lost by a British soldier in 1914 and a nice French infantry aluminium button . It confirms that Tekkna can be used almost everywhere for coin/relic hunting with very excellent results ... The wood : the medal just after its recovery : And after a little cleaning : A French infantry alu button :
  24. I am not surprised with your finds with the 9" which is THE reference D2 coil for ultra high iron trashed areas ... From my little field experience with Tekkna I found it excellent on high / ultra high iron trashed areas . Still very good on medium iron trashed areas but not much difference with other programs like SENSITIVE to my opinion there. I found Tekkna to be more chatty than SENSITIVE but it is just a matter of getting used to it . Anyway I use Tekkna all the time now ...
  25. HI , I had false( erratic ) signals with mine too , and a faulty Viper coil that I had to send back to the Garrett after service . I preferred to stop with the Apex due to too much issues , even if I like the detector design with its slim control box and the very good Ripper coil. Perhaps it was due to the 1st 100 produced , I dont know and perhaps the pb is solved now, but I lost time and money with this story and I did not want to retry this detector again ...
