Nice video 🙂 but no question 🤢 ( then no answer .. ) about the exact target depth improvement vs the Equinox or vs the competition ..
Then lets wait for the field tests ...

The introductory price on my shaft will be $229 USD plus shipping.
Also, thanks for the information/specifications on the Deus Lite S-Stem -- the lighter alternative to the standard Deus stem. So, yes -- while my shaft is a hair lighter than the standard Deus shaft, it is not quite as light as the Deus lite. What I can say, is this. First, if I made my shaft shorter (Deus length), obviously it would be lighter, as you noted. In fact, building my shaft to Deus standard shaft length, would reduce my shaft weight by almost an ounce (0.9 oz.) I can do that, for any customer who doesn't need the extra length. At "Deus length," my shaft weight would then be reduced to approximately 15.4 oz.
In addition, the Deus shaft uses neither an arm cuff pad, nor an arm cuff strap. Eliminating those from my arm cuff, would remove another half ounce (0.55 oz.). This is also something I can do, for any customer that doesn't need a pad or a strap. So at that point, my shaft would be reduced to 14.85 oz. -- and would be within 0.85 oz. of the weight of a Deus Lite shaft (and just over an ounce and a half lighter than the Deus standard shaft).

Ok long story short this carbon shaft looks very interesting , its weight is similar to the XP stock shafts but it is much longer especially for the rear shaft which means a much better "sweeping cumfort" ... Again tall guys will appreciate , the current XP shafts design is definitely not for them ... 🙂
It is a little expensive but this is normal for such a sophisticated carbon design ...
When you say 229$ you mean shipping to Europe or US only ? thx
Btw a 2 part version would be even lighter because you would save a camlock weight ( probably around 1 oz )

bigtim, I just finished assembling the first shaft (to be sent out for field testing soon). Total weight of the shaft, everything included except a coil, and with remote control NOT attached (but with remote control mount included) is 16.3 oz. total weight.
I'm not sure how this compares, in an "apples to apples" way to the stock shaft (no coil, no remote attached), but perhaps someone can chime in?
The XP S Telescopic Lite weigh around 400g ( 14 oz )
( 320g for the S Lite shaft + 80g lower shaft ) .
Canne S TELESCOPIC Lite | XP METAL DETECTORSHowever your carbon shaft is much longer than the S telescopic Lite . Then at least tall persons should be interested by your shaft ... And a carbon shaft will be more rigid than the XP stock shafts .
Whats its price ? thanks ..

it's still expensive! why do we pay 400 more than the americans?
i hope it’s less than 2000 pavos

Definitely worth it with the M8 coil if it were going head to head with Deus 2 because the weight advantage of Deus 2 (a lot of what you are paying for) would be reduced.
This M8 coil is around the same size as the Vanquish V8 ( 8X6 ) , I have used it it is a very small coil . The D2 9 coil is an other beast which is bigger and much deeper from my testings.
Btw I dont understand why ML did not propose a 9' sized coil for the Manticore . They are repeating the same error that they did with the Equinox ... The choice is only between a very small coil and big coils . No intermediate 9" sized coils . Until Coiltek makes one in 3 or 4 years ...? 🙂
Hopefully there is still the Vanquish with the V10 ...🙂

Wish they could have made it more than just 1 oz lighter. But that gives them license to say lighter than Nox, at least.
I agree , no significant weight improvement vs the Equinox . The Equinox weighs 1,3kg and the Manticore .. the same .... Then at first sight I am not interested by this detector unless its depth performances are significantly better than the Nox/Deus2 , but I dont believe to miracles ...
Nicely designed detector nevertheless .. and ML has probably improved its reactivity vs the Equinox then it will probably be better than the Nox in the irons ... Looking fwd for the field tests ...

Thanks for posting Alain.
I too have a Sensitive, 5 tone, Square Wave audio user profile setup for my Deus 2 Lite
... Just don't gold prospect with it yet.......the Legend or Equinox 800 are far better for that task.
...
I have a few questions.
How many user profiles are available and can I have multiple user profiles per program or only one....like can I have two or more profiles based on program 1 General for instance?
Also, it appears that one of the features missing on at least my WS6 besides the XY screen is the ability to turn the notch feature OFF. Mine has the option for 00-00 but not to turn it OFF which I would prefer. Maybe I am missing a settings step somewhere.
Hi Jeff,
Concerning the number of user profiles the can be saved, I imagine it is the same as with the RC then 12 , but I have not tried this , and I dont know if several profiles based on the same program can be saved too ...
The same for the notch feature to OFF ... I dont know sorry , I am not a great settings specialist 🙂..
Actually I always use the Deus ( D2 or D1 ) factory programs with very few changes , because the D2 ( or D1 ) modes are perfectly set for my local French detecting conditions ( low mineralization , high iron trash , coin/relic hunting ). For example I have just changed the number of tones and the audio ( from PWM to SQUARE ) on the D2. Doing only a few changes makes easy to recreate a program if it is lost or accidentally erased btw ...
You did a good choice keeping your D2 WS4 "Lite" . I cant wait to use it in the field , next week I hope , I will try to post my reports ...

That's approaching Legend price-range?
American translation: 1.6 lb. 😁 How is the balance?
Yes 750€ ( or 850 if you add a shaft ) is a very good price for such a performing machine, knowing that almost all the RC settings are available on the WS6.
The balance with the 9" is excellent . Having no CB on the shaft saves around a pound which makes a big ergonomy difference with the competitors.

The project is moving along at a good pace.
A surprise arrived today, that will now allow me to get the field-test prototypes sent out to testers soon...
...
Very nice job . Btw the XP factory shafts are too short for tall persons , the lower stem is too short and the upper stem too. I mean the armrest is too close from the handle and this length cannot be changed , at least on the S telecopic Lite. I hope that this can be adjusted on your new shaft ... thanks ...

Received my D2 WS6 pack yesterday ( 9" coil + WS6 wireless headphones : total 750€ ).The WS6 is easy to start and use . The coil + shaft is ultra light , 725g with the S-telescopic shaft coming from my D1.
The 9" FMF coil itself weighs 330g ( without coil cover ), much lighter than the 11" ( 420g ).
I did a few depth tests , it goes deep , quite impressive , almost as deep as the 11" and much deeper than my D1 9X6 HF .
Sounds very good ,first outings in the field planned for next week ...
1. The 9 FMF coil mounted on a S telescopic Lite shaft :
2. The W6 with my current settings : SENSITIVE MODE , 5 TONES , SQUARE AUDIO :
3. 9" FMF coil + shaft , only 725g ! :

At least it looks like that the Manticore CB side buttons are much better protected than the Equinox ones . Good idea , I had to send my Equinox twice to the after service because of these side buttons ...

Version 0.6 needed update, v0.7 needed update too. In version 0.71, I still have issues when connecting MI-6 pinpointer. Deus I works much better for me. I also don't like the volume of pinpointer - it's too silent. I was detecting a beach during windy morning and I had to switch it to disconnected mode - only vibrations, which means limited sensitivity...
I don't understand defending them...
I have never used an MI6 with my Deus1, I use a Minelab profind 35 or a Quest Xpointer Max because they have an iron disc not available on XP models . Then no pinpointer connection issues for me as the pinpointer works independantly from the detector . Sometimes simpler is better ...
Concerning Nokta , as I already said several times , they are probably good detectors but they are twice heavier than the XPs , For this single reason Noktas is a nogo for me . For me it is simply impossible to come back to a 1,4kg detector after having used a 800g machine ...
I am sorry for your issues , btw I did not notice any depth perfo issue during my D2 testing in March. I will check this when I buy my D2 in a few weeks ...

That's a decent price too!
Well that was weird... When I first checked the site it said 332 Euros ($335 USD) and now it says 399 Euros ($402 USD), which I guess is the correct price.
Well at least the separate coils are starting to hit the market. That's cool.
Yes this means that now you can have a D2 Lite for around 850E, buying the parts separately :
- WS6 headphones 350E / Casque sans fil XP DEUS II WS6 - metaux-detection.fr
- 9 or 11" coil 400E / Disque XP DEUS II 22 FMF (metaux-detection.fr)
- Deus S Stemlite telescopic shaft
105E / CANNE TÉLESCOPIC XP : S-STEMLITE - metaux-detection.fr-

I hope that you will solve your issue by updating your D2 to a new version . XP is a very serious brand and I am sure that they will solve the pbs , even if it can take a few days/weeks. From my standpoint I still use a D1 and I dont have the D2 yet . Perhaps I will wait a D2 V1.x version before buying it so that all the pbs are fixed
Btw D2 separate coils are now available for sale over here in France , for example at : Disques XP DEUS (metaux-detection.fr) , then I imagine that it will soon be the case in the US ..

The thing that has impressed me most, other than how light it is, is how the D2 performs in iron. ...
Yes the D1 and D2 are the Kings in the irons ... and for lightness. And the D2 has improved the detection depth vs the D1 ... What else ? 🙂

I have been out a few times during some insane weather with the new Deus 2. Finally today we had some good weather conditions and good soil moisture levels in the local parks for perfect deep target conditions.
I was using the 9" coil in stock General mode. The only adjustments I made were to use Square Wave audio and to set 5 tone bins for iron, low conductor gold/aluminum, US nickels, mid conductor aluminum/zinc penny, and the last bin was for copper pennies, dimes, quarters and any silver coins or jewelry...
Great report Jeff , thanks ... If you hunt trashy areas you will probably like SENSITIVE which is even more reactive than GENERAL ... I am very impressed by the D2 too btw 😉...

When you buy a detector , the after service is done by your dealer and not directly the manufacturer , whatever the brand . Then you should contact your dealer first . Have you contacted your dealer about this issue ?

Nice hunting ... Eventually French is easy to learn as you can see .. 🙂
I would just suggest to try the SENSITIVE mode , it is better ( faster and more reactive ) than GENERAL or PARK in the irons ..

I looked up ebay listings for this coin. It appears $1500-$3000US is the range sellers have listed coins in this condition.
I think its pretty safe to say this one find paid off my Deus 2. This wasn't something I needed to do, or I expected to happen so quickly, but is certainly a welcome surprise. 😁
A D2 paid off in 2 or 3 months ... This will be difficult to beat ... 🙂 🙂

50% More Power To The Manticore Coil?
in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Posted
I dont think that it will perform 10% better or more than the Equinox , because otherwise ML would have commnunicated on this with accurate figures .
Btw 10% better means 3 or 4cm deeper than a Nox/Vanquish/Deus2 on a big coin at 30cm ( 12inches ) depth . If it is really the case I would certainly buy it ..
