  1. 4 hours coil autonomy is not normal , it is rather around 7 or 8 hours , look at the D2 manual :
  2. The D1 had already this secret sauce in the iron trashed areas . It looks like the D2 FMF is at least equal than the D1 in the trash . I would say better knowing I have only used the 11" like you at the moment . Thanks for your very interesting report ...
  3. Yes . And I also work for Minelab , Quest , Garrett, Nokta lol ๐Ÿ˜„ , look at my reports in this forum and at Le blog Mรฉtaux-Dรฉtection (metaux-detection.fr) I have even worked for Tesoro , Detech , Teknetics , Garmin etc a few years ago in two French MD magazines called " Le Prospecteur" and "Le Fouilleur" btw ... And for a few others I dont even remember ...
  4. Sorry I dont understand , you found 500 coins with your whites or with the D2 ?
  5. Perhaps this loose cam lock issue is something different from the flex issue . If the cam lock is faulty then it has simply to be sent back to the XP after service to my opinion ... Yes it is often easier to understand an issue when you can directly see it in the field , then I might be wrong ...
  6. Thx a lot basstrackerman . Using a Simplex carbon lower shaft for the D2 is a very good idea . It is much stronger and a little longer( 2,5" - 6cm , see pic below ) than the XP polymer shaft . The modifs seem easy to do : 1) modify the Deus shaft cam stop to remove a fraction of material 2) adapt the Simplex shaft coil connector so that it fits to the D2 coil , it should not be a pb ... I will do that on my future D2. Then I can extend the shaft a little bit more which will be perfect for me ... The Deus stock polymer lower shaft and the Simplex optional carbon lower shaft :
  7. I have tried a simplex carbon lower and it doesnt fit on my Deus1 shaft . Too tight ... the simplex shaft is a little too large for the Deus1 shaft ... I will complain at Nokta ... ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
  8. I dont hunt in water then I dont have this issue but I guess that in water there are more mechanical constraints on the shaft than during inland hunting . Probably this is the reason why a lot of beach hunters have replaced their Equinox stock shafts with carbon shafts ... I hope there will soon be carbon shafts available for the D2 , either from XP or an other manufacturer ..
  9. The S-telescopic stem weighs around 310g ( see pic below ) . The D1/D2 stock shaft weighs 400g . Then you will save around 90g using the S-telescopic shaft ... for example , a D2 with the stock shaft and 11" coil weighs 880g ( without coil cover ) , with the S-telescopic it will only weigh 790g . And probably around 730g with the D2 9" coil ... Not bad ... ๐Ÿ™‚ The S-telescopic stem :
  10. I will sell my D1 HF as soon as I have the D2 9" . I have no doubt that the D2 9" will do the job including high iron trashed areas from what I have seen during my tests of the D2 11"
  11. This lower shaft flex issue has been exagerated . This shaft has been released on 2010 with the Deus1 then it is definitely not something new on the market ... ๐Ÿ™‚. Personnaly I have used this shaft during several years I can tell you that it is a a very convenient , reliable and light shaft . For me this shaft is rather a strength than a weakness if you compare with the competitors , an Equinox or an Apex for example ... The only thing to know ; tall persons ( > 1,85m ) should buy the XP optional longer mid shaft otherwise the shaft will be too short for them. Btw If you want to save weight there is an optional lighter shaft available at XP , I currenly use it and I like it : S TELESCOPIC Lite Stem | XP METAL DETECTORS HH with your D2 ... My Deus1 WS4 HF with the S-Telescopic Stem :
  12. Would be interesting to compare with an other detector .. To know if only the D2 has an issue or of it is the same for other machines ...
  13. Mine is extended to 5 and I do notice a little wobble ..
  14. Yes non round or round shafts has no importance I think . I think people just need a light collabsible carbon S shaft for the Deus suitable for all persons including tall ones , wether the rods are round or not .. One other thing I noticed on the Deus shaft is that the rear shaft is too short ( I mean the distance between the handle and the arm cuff ). Would be a good idea if this distance could be adjusted by the user , which is not the case with the current XP shaft.. But simply providing a new lower shaft would still be a great improvement for the users . I mean a carbon lower shaft longer than the current XP shaft . It would solve the "wobbly" issue and could be used by tall persons ... NM has an optional carbon lower shaft for the Simplex and a carbon lower shaft on the Legend btw ...
  15. I confirm that the Deus1/2 standard shaft is too short for persons over 1,80m tall . At 1.80m the lower rod starts to wobble because it is set at its limits . Clearly I am 1.83m and the D2 shaft is a little too short for me. I heard that there was an XP optional longer mid shaft available as an accessory . It would solve the pb but I dont see it on the XP internet site. Will ask to my dealer ..
  16. I know very well the 540 I have used it during one ot two years ... You can "simulate" a Vanquish with your D2 using it on P1 GENERAL, SQUARE and 5 tones . The D2 is just much faster and reactive , with a much better iron filtering , and of course lighter than the ML . And it is eventually easier to use than the Vanquish in iron trashed areas, even using this GENERAL mode ... Probably you have already seen the difference ... ๐Ÿ™‚ HH
  17. I would not recommend the D2 for a total beginner . I think that the D2 is too sophisticated for a beginner unless he is in a detection club where people can help to tell how to use the machine ... If I had an advice for a beginner using a D2 , it would be to start only using the P1 GENERAL factory mode without trying to change the other settings , except basic ones like ground balance and general volume. And only after a few months try other modes and expert settings ..
  18. I would suggest you to stick a piece of foam on the back of the headphones , which should solve the pb . Personnally I dont hesitate to modify things when I dont like them ...
  19. Sorry I cant change my eyes , unless I go to Lourdes and there is a miracle ... ๐Ÿ™‚ But as the detector's name is Deus who knows what may happen ... ๐Ÿ™‚
  20. Detectors electromagnetic fields in the ground behaves like cars headlights in the fog . It is not because you increase your headlights power that you will see further ...
  21. They are definitely not junk, the WS6 are very similar to the Deus1 WS4 headphones that are by far the most popular Deus1 wireless headphones used over here in France . This because they are very light and they are opened so that you can hear the external sounds , then they are excellent for inland hunting . I agree that they are a little fragile . This is the reason why I have reinforced mines with a sticky tape, look at the pics below .. For beach hunting it is a different story as the weather conditions are often tough and very windy then closed big heaphones are a much better choice . I agree that the WS6 may not be the right tool for beach hunting .. My D1 WS4 reinforced with a sticky tape . Not very aesthetic but I have been using it since several years now without any pb ... :
  22. Yes I noticed this, the D2 conductivity scale seems to be compressed for high conductors and extended for lower ones . Not a pb for me as I only hunt by hear and never look at the VDIs but the D2 cond scale seems to be very different from a Vanquish or an Equinox for example ...
  23. I dont see any difference between the Nox and the D2 on deep coins on my bed test. I have a clean and soft signal on a 10g bronze coin at 11" , with the D2 GENERAL , PARK or DEEP HC modes ... Similar result with an Equinox 800 11" . My soil is moderately mineralized . I am wondering if you dont have an issue with your D2 , faulty coil or other ... or EMI?
  24. You are right this 11" coil is a very good coil . I just watched abenson's last relic hunting video , he has done a great job with this coil . The right choice for relic hunting because it very probably goes deeper than the 9" coil . At the end I will have probably have both coils ... This week I had no time available for detecting. I will just wait a few weeks before buying a D2 so that I can have it a little cheaper ... My be a second hand I will see ...
  25. I agree I have heard this "Yes I hear it, and yes I would have dug that" sentence hundred of times lol ๐Ÿ˜„ ... It is the worst way to compare 2 detectors while being the most frequently used method ...
