  1. I suggest to only use the P1 GENERAL factory mode during several weeks to get used to the detector. Then start to change a few GENERAL settings like the number of tones ( from 3 to 5 ) , then change the audio from PWM to SQUARE. It will take some time to get used to either the PWM or SQUARE audio. Choose the one that you are more confident with . After a few months try other modes like SENSITIVE , SENSITIVE FT or FAST which are more efficient in the iron trash than GENERAL .

Yes it helps to know the Deus1 because the Deus2  PWM audio is similar to the Deus1 audio.  On the other hand the SQUARE audio is a new audio then even an experienced Deus1 user will have to learn it ... Hopefully the XPs  audios are easy to understand and to use , this is one of the reasons why they are so popular ...

Many moons ago I bought a Deus 1 . I wanted the 9” coil but my dealer tells me the 11” coil was so much better. The trouble between us was he was a relic hunter and myself a coin hunter. I took his advice and I was never happy using that 11” coil. I wasn’t going the cost of buying that 9” coil so I sold and happy it was gone. Later down the road the ORX came out with that 9” coil and later here a guy had a elliptical coil he wanted to sell .

I say don’t let someone sell you something you really don’t want because like me you may never be happy with it.

Yes I know those relic hunters , I have a few friends who hunt 1st WW relics  , buckles , helmets etc ... they look for rather big targets at depth , this is the reason why they often use big coils that are a little deeper than smaller ones . But coin hunting is a different story , the targets are smaller and often in the iron trash where smaller coils like a 9" are much better .

It is a pity that your dealer did not understand your needs , as understanding the customer needs is their first job ...

    Thank you very much!

You re welcome . Just remember the difference between the Q30 and the Q30+ . The Q30+ has the wireless ( control box embedded transmitter + wireless headphones ), while the Q30 has no wireless just wired headphones . Then I strongly recommend the Q30+ because the wireless is a huge plus in terms of ergonomy ....

Hello everyone.  I am new to this forum and especially new to my Deus II which I rec’ed three days ago.  Might anyone have any insight please with the 11” coil as to when it is centered directly over the target?  I swing get a good tone then turn 90 degrees and swing until I once again get a good tone.  This gives me a pretty good approximate position.  In the past with a rather old Minelab the target was centered about a third of the way back from the front of the coil.  Anything comparable with the Deus?  Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.  My regards, Greg

Hi , I am currently testing the Deus2 11" . The turn 90 degrees is a good method . It helps to locate the target , which is usually under the coil center , but sometimes it can be on the front or on the back. I always recommend to use a pinpointer with such big coils to save time and energy , this whatever the brand ...

    Thank you!

Are there many tones to choose from with the Q30?

    ( updated on March 10 )

    - 2 , 3 or 4 tones with the PARK and FIELD modes

I would have preferred up to 5 or even more but 4 tones is still ok for me ...  🙂

Has anyone out there done a true head to head with the Q30, Simplex+,  and in English?

I havent done an head to head between the Q30 and the Simplex+ but I know both detectors , I have used them a few hours. They are very similar detectors , monofreq , ip68 to 5m , straight shaft , affordable price.  I prefer the Q30 to the simplex because its raptor 9X11 " stock coil is more compact than the big 11" Simplex+ coil, because it is a little lighter , and because I like the Q30 audio.  Just my opinion for my local conditions , moderately mineralized soil with often high iron trash ...

Tom it is.  His custom digger works great.  There's a minus tide this Sunday, so we'll give it a test run then.

Hi , please could you weight it , detector and coil , so that I can add these infos to my SMF weights comparison post , thanks ...

Thanks for the weights.  Because the Deus family are such unusual detectors, with the 'smarts' in the coil, those of us who haven't used one can be confused even without the use of initialisms.

You use 'CB' for 'control box'.  NC uses 'RC' ('remote control')?  I still haven't figured out what 'CC' stands for.

Sorry I have updated my post with the initialisms meanings

  9. I always weigh the detectors as an important part of my testing procedure . Here are the results :

    CC : coil cover
RC :  Deus2 wireless control box

    1) DETECTORS WEIGHTS :
    ---------------------------

    - Deus2  9" , RC in the pocket without CC  = 800g ( estimation based on NCtoad's post )
    - Deus2 11" , RC in the pocket without CC  = 880g
    - Deus2 11" , RC in the pocket  + CC           = 930g

    - Deus2 9" ,, RC on shaft without CC = 950g  ( estimation based on NCtoad's post  )
    - Deus2 11" , RC on shaft without CC = 1030g
    - Equinox 11" without CC                     = 1260g
    - Legend 11" without CC                      = 1320g ( estimation based on cal_cobra's post  )

    - Deus2 9"  , RC on shaft + CC = 990g  ( see NCtoad's post  )
    - Deus2 11" , RC on shaf  + CC = 1080g
    - Equinox 11" + CC                     = 1320g
    - Legend 11"  + CC                     = 1370g ( see cal_cobra's post )

    2) PARTS WEIGHTS :
    ----------------------
    - Coil without CC :

    - Deus2 9"       = 330g  ( see NCtoad's post )
    - Deus2 11"      = 420g
    - Equinox 11"   = 420g
    - Legend 11"    = ?

    - Coil with CC :
    - Deus2 9"       = 370g  ( see NCtoad's post )
    - Deus2 11"      = 470g
    - Equinox 11"   = 470g
    - Legend 11"    = ?

    - Control Box/RC  :
    - Deus2       = 150g

I'd look at the spot I put the yellow arrow.

Its not round it looks flat in the picture. Don't know if that was a camera issue or if its actually a flat spot.

Well done & thanks CW3 ...   After having looked at it closer with a magnifying glass , yes it is  damaged . The connector plastic ring is flat at the spot instead of being perfectly round .

I am not surprised by this , those tiny connectors seem fragile , at least for me .. I would have preferred a bigger/stronger one.

Hopefully it is just just a male connector that should be easily replaced.  I will inform my dealer asap  ...
