My MD dealer has a few D2 9" versions still available . Hopefully he has no pb to sell them ... BTW he told me that the users having a D1 sell them to buy a D2 , and the others having an entry level detector sell them to buy a second hand D1 . Looks like a general upgrade to quality ... 🙂

I am going off topic but I have just done a quick test with the D2 on my beach bed test ( a box filled with sand + salt water with a 2euros coin at 11" depth ) . --> The D2 hits the coin easily , then yes it seems to go deep at the beach , a little deeper than all the machines I have tested up to now btw ... 🙂 Prog used : Beach or Beach sensitive modes without any modif

I agree it is perhaps a matter of getting used to it . But as a tester I will post everything , the positive and also the less positive 🙂 . I do that for each detector that I test , whatever the brand ... btw I have not yet started my static and field tests but I already noticed that the D2 is very light , which is much more important for me than this little jack issue .... I am happy that you have fun with your D2 ... 🙂 HH

Yes I dont like this 5pin RC charging plug . It is small and difficult to plug . I would have preferred a magnetic charging plug like on the Equinox or the Quest Q30/Q30+ ...

I agree with you , the D2 is not a "miracle" detector , it has probably similar detecting performances to the others but just outperforms them with its ergonomy/lightness with its 9" coil ( 350g ). I have a cousin who had serious shoulder issues after sweeping an heavy detector during several years ( a ML Advantage with a very heavy 11" coil ). He was almost going to stop detecting . Now he uses a Deus(1) and his shoulder pbs have disappeared . Then eventually yes the Deus can be a miracle machine for a few ones ... 🙂 🙂

For my kind of hunting , inland and mainly open fields I prefer the Quest to the Vanquish and Simplex+ , this despite the Raptor coil weight .. The Vanquish and Simplex+ are good detectors , but I definitely prefer the Q30 audio ...

TESTING THE QUEST Q30+ RAPTOR 11X9 : -------------------------------------------------------- Testing conditions : Coin/relic hunting , inland , low to moderately mineralized soil , low to very high iron trash MY GRADING : 3,5 of 5 ( 14/20 ) THE PLUS : ------------ - excellent audio ,accurate and fast on targets - excellent in the irons - 14khz polyvalent frequency - high quality manufacturing - IP68 protected to 5m - easy to use - lithium ion battery - very stable / no EMI in my areas - screen backlight - very good telescopic shaft - very good wireless headphones - very good value for money ( price 450e) THE CONS : ------------ - detector front heavy ( 1360g ) / Raptor coil heavy ( 470g ) - accessories/spare parts availibility The Quest brand is quite popular in Western Europe and most of the MD dealers over here propose this brand to their customers. The objective from Quest was probably to propose a serious machine able to compete with the Nokta Simplex+ and the Minelab Vanquish. Notice that the Q30+ is almost identical to the Q30, except it has an embedded bluetooth transmitter plus wireless headphones . FIRST IMPRESSIONS : ----------------------- The Q30+ is very well build . The control box is IP68 rated to 5m . This is very useful when you need to wash the CB after a muddy outing , which often occurs at the moment .. The CB has a magnetic plug for charging the lithium battery, this is more reliable than a USB connector . The telescopic shaft is very convenient and robust . The Raptor coil is a 11X9 size , it is a little too big for me I would have preferred a 10X8 or equivalent . Moreover it is heavy ( 470g without coil cover ) compared to other brands ( Equinox 11" 420g , Vanquish V10 360g ). The Q30+ with the Raptor weighs 1,36kg . This is heavier than an Equinox 11 ( 1,26kg ) or a Vanquish 440 ( 1,2kg ). But a little lighter than a NM Simplex+ . I am a little disappointed by this I expected a lighter detector .. Lets talk about the electronics. The Q30+ is a 14khz monofrequency machine . 14 khz is a very good choice because it is probably the most polyvlent VLF freq . The Q30+ has are 4 detection modes , PARK , FIELD , GOLD and BEACH. During this test I have only used the PARK and FIELD modes . The multitones can be set to 4 tones max. The Q30+ has GB , sensitivity , volume etc ... plus a screen backlight. See the details below : The Q30+ wireless headphones : You wont find advanced settings on the Q30+ like for example the reactivity ,this parameter is perfectly preset and I have never needed to change it during my field tests. Personnaly I like simple detectors , and this one is very easy to use . OK its time to start the detector. As usual I sweep it over a few targets in my yard to have a better idea of the audio. This audio is very reactive and is similar to fast detectors like the Tesoros and XP for example . Good news because I am a great fan of these audios because they are fun and efficient to use in my detecting areas , usually fields with a lot of iron trash , old nails and 1st WW shell fragments ... FIELD TESTS : --------------- I have done 5 outings with the Q30+ for a total of 8 hours. One in a little wood infested by old irons . The other outings have been done in open fields. The Q30+ has always performed very well especially in the irons and I have really been impressed by its audio , with an excellent iron filtering and very accurate and clean signals on targets. The screen conductivity IDs are quite accurate and stable , a little less than on an Equinox or a Vanquish , but it is ok for me . As I was expecting the Q30+ is front heavy with the Raptor coil and my Deus is much lighter . This is the only thing I did not like on this machine . A few pictures below ... SETTINGS : ------------ I have mostly used the PARK mode as it is a little more reactive than the FIELD mode. CONCLUSION : ---------------- I like the Q30+ . This detector is very good especially in the irons where it is fast with very clean and accurate signals on targets . It is probably one of the best audios I have ever tested . The detector is easy to use and the control box is very well protected . It has a very recent/modern design dating from 2020 . The wireless headphones are great . Everything seems to be very reliable I had no issue during these tests either with the detector or the headphones . Concerning the downsides ,the Q30+ would have deserved a lighter Raptor stock coil. For info there is an optional smaller 5X9 BladeX coil which is probably a killer . Unfortunately I could not order it as it is not available in France at the moment ... Then to summarize at 450e the Q30+ is a very good detector for coin/relic hunting , that can easily compete with the ML Vanquish or NM Simplex+ to my opinion... I agree , for sure the D2 has mostly been tested in France/Europe . But this is probably the same for all the other manufacturers as MD detectors manufacturers are small companies that certainly dont have the people for doing intensive testing all over the world with all the different electrical standards ; power lines , GSM towers , etc ... However I will ask to my dealer about this EMI issue, at least for France . I will pay attention to this as I should have a D2 for testing starting from this week ...

Weights without coil cover : - Ripper : 320g ( Apex+Ripper 1,09kg ) - Viper : 400g ( Apex+Viper 1,17kg ) - Raider : 460g ( Apex+Raider 1,23kg ) - Reaper : not tested I have used an Apex a few months last year ( 50hours ) for inland hunting . For me it would be a very good detector without the reliability issues I had with it ( coil , coil connectors, electronics stability bugs ). I hope its ok with yours ... I mainly used my Apex with the Ripper which is very light , fun to use and excellent in the iron trash. The Viper is also a good coil but a little heavier . I gave just a try to the Raider but it was too front heavy for me . HH

I agree, never jump to conclusions about a detector before you have at least 20/30 hours with it in the field. Especially with sophisticated detectors with multiple modes/settings like the Deus2 ...

Yes I confirm I had this moment during my first hours with the ML Explorer XS at the beginning of the 2000s ... But my opinion suddenly changed when I found my first hammered medieval coins with it ... 🙂

This is a good video . From what I have seen on this video the D2 11 seems to be at least as good as the Eq800 11 for depth. But not much difference . However the guy concludes a little too quickly for me. A detector cannot be assessed after short static tests and he seems to forget the field tests which are the most important part of the assessment job ... May be he will do them later ... For example he completely missed the mechanical ergonomy which is probably the most important difference between the Equinox and the Deus2. The D2 will probably be around 300g lighter than the Eq800 with the CB in the pocket , and this should make an important difference in the field during long outings ..

I am not surprised by this coil connector corrosion issue , as these connectors seem to be of very poor quality . Mine is too tight . Last time I could hardly remove it , never seen something like this during 22 years detecting . Even a cheap machine like the Quest X5 ( 170e ) has far much better connectors than the Apex ( 500e ) ... 🥵

depth gauge I would prefer a vertical display like on all the other detectors , an horizontal display can lead to misunderstandings

Very interesting video thx . After having carefully watched the video I prefer the D2 audio to the Kruzer . The signals on targets are stronger and the most important they are cleaner and sharper , despite the bigger size of the D2 coil . Usually big coils are less accurate on targets than smaller ones , this is not the case here with the D2 11" coil ...

I dont like this test too . At the end of the video one would conclude that the Aq is better in the ferrous than the Deus2 , which of course it is not ...

This might change during the coming months with the Deus2 WS6 master "Lite" version . The D2 WS6 master will probably be at around 800e/$ , then almost the same as the Legend .

I have never needed to adjust my volume segments individually . Having the same volume response from all my targets , except the ferrous , is exactly what I need . So no major omission of flexibility for me here ... I am not a beach specialist , but I agree with calabash , I rather see users moving from the Anfibio to the D2 than the opposite , simply because of the detection comfort criteria , with a D2 weighing around 800g vs an Anfibio ( 1,7kg ! ) ... And there will still be a big difference between the D2 and the new Legend ( 1,4kg ) This is the downside of NM detectors , they are heavy ... Some people dont care about their detector weight , but the majority prefer lighter machines. This is probably the most important reason of the XP success story ...

I just had a discussion with a French dealer yesterday , yes the D2 9" and 11" coils prices will be at 399e . The RC 750e and the WS6 350e 🙂👍. Available in April , then we ll have to wait a little 😒 ... At the moment only the D2 full packages are available at 1600e . I will probably order a 9' coil + the WS6 headphones in April , as I already have the D1 rod . Then total for me 749e , which is a good deal as it looks like that the WS6 has all the settings that I need.

No you are not splitting hairs there s defintely a big difference between a 11" and a 9". The iron separation is MUCH better with a 9" coil than a 11" coil. And a 9" coil is usually siginificantly lighter than a 11". If you look at all the detectors from other brands you will see that they mostly propose a 9" or eliiptical equivalent ( 11X7 for the T2/G2 for example ) as stock coil . There are some exceptions to this with ML and the Equinox for example , not sure that it was a good idea from them 🙂 ...

Hi , Welcome , I dont have a D2 yet but I imagine that it will the same for the D2 as for all the other detectors/brands I have owned ... : 9' coil the plus : light , excellent in the iron trash , easy target centering the cons : less ground coverage than the 11" , a little less depth on medium/big coins than the 11" 11' coil the plus : the deepest on big targets ( medium/big coins ) in clean soils, the important ground coverage the cons : poor separation in the iron trash , it is often difficult to center the targets without a pinpointer , and last but not least they are usually heavy From my standpoint I detect inland and very often in the irons , and I dont like nose heavy machines , then I will go for the D2 9" ...
