  1. When the Deus1 was released in 2010 , its price was around 1500e . Now it is around 1000e :Détecteur XP DEUS 22RC X35 - Metaux-detection.fr It will be the same for the Deus2 , the prices will decrease ..
  2. I mean Noktas SMF coming in 2 weeks . Yes you are right Nokta's should answer to the Equinox as nobody knew what XP was going to pull off their hat just a few weeks ago ... 🙂
  3. Yes perhaps a software version difference between the coil and the headphones/CB . The version must be the same I thought it was 3.0 but may be 4.0 as ElNino is saying . Apart from that XP coils never come with a charger they only come with a lower shaft thats all ...
  4. At least XP is the fastest to bring a new SMF to the table this year and they always propose very seriously designed/manufactured/tested products.... 🙂 🙂 Nokta is coming but I doubt that they will propose something better than the Deus2 Minelab 1000 , bird in my hand over a promise for the future , as it is not even announced... But they still have a very good performer with the Eq800 which is more affordable than the Deus2 But lets wait and see ... Looking forward for Nokta's answer to the Deus2 ... and for the field tests of the two machines ...
  5. I dont think there will be any performance miracle with the Deus2 for European inland hunters vs the Deus1 , except for big coins/relics hunting in clean soils ( low iron trash ) where a SMF goes deeper than a monofreq. This is why I could be interested by a Deus2 Lite version in the future . I could then replace my 2 machines Deus1 and Vanquish by a Deus2. But the main market in France for the Deus2 will probably be the beach , as it is already the case for the Equinox which is considered here as a pure beach machine when you talk with the dealers and the users. I know it is completely different in the US where the Equinox is intensively used for gold prospecting , park hunting , etc ... I dont know in the UK ...
  6. I did quantitative tests this summer in the field in an iron infested area , a comparative test between a Deus HF 9in , an Apex Ripper and a Vanquish 540V8. I dont use experimental separation tests any more because I found them not reliable enough , due to the complexity to reproduce a real iron trashed soil environment . 1 - Gold medal XP Deus Lite WS4 HF 9in , 7 coins found during 1h20 ---> 5 coins / hour 2 - Silver medal Garrett Apex Ripper , 6 coins found during 2h ---> 3 coins / hour 3 - Bronze medal Minelab Vanquish 540 V8 , 3 coins during 2h ---> 1,5 coin / hour There is no better simulation than ... reality 🙂🙂 Notice that there are huge differences between the detectors , this is not the case with pure depth tests in clean soil where the differences never exceed 20% Look at the following thread below for more details , last post :
  7. I do understand French but it did not help me much to understand the graphic 😀 😀...
  8. I dont think so , otherwise detectors coils would use a flat surface . But they all do use wired coils ( very often circular ) for emitting and receiving electromagnetic fields . But I am not a specialist and an electronician would answer better than me ...
  9. Weird , on my own bed tests ( test boxes filled with ground/moderately mineralized ) , an Equinox 800 goes at 12inches , 1+ inch deeper than my Deus HF 14k ( the target is a 10g copper coin ) . Perhaps it is different for a ring which has a specific shape wich increases the electromagnetic eddy currents compared to a coin ...
  10. XP will probably release smaller coils for the Deus2 , as they have already done for the Deus1 with the 10X6 elliptical HF. XP listen their customers , if there is a demand for smaller coils which is logical for a multipurpose detector , they will do them ...
  11. Equinox are very good detectors , I like them . XP had no choice to win market shares vs the Equinox than proposing something better . It looks like they are on the right way with the Deus2 despite its high price.
  12. For me , the main reason to have a Deus2 vs an Equinox is the weight/detection cumfort. With the CB on the shaft and a 11i coil the Deus2 weights around 950g (800g CB in the pocket) vs 1260g for the Equinox 11 coil . Which means 24% lighter than the Equinox ( 36% lighter with the CB in the pocket )
  13. From my standpoint I hope that there will be a Deus2 Lite version soon . It will be more affordable and a lot of inland hunters do not need a CB. I have a Deus1 Lite WS4 since 2013 and I never used a CB . I am interested by the Deus2 multifrequency for depth perfos in clean soils ( low iron trash ) additional feature vs the Deus1. I think that XP needs a Lite version because at 1600e the Deus2 'full" is ( very ) expensive , much more than the MLs Equinox/Vanquish , knowing that the new Nokta SMF will probably be much cheaper too... Apart from this , I am very impressed by XP with what they have done in terms of technology with this new Deus2 . Looks like they succeeded to put a Deus1 with an Equinox into a single box WOW 🙂 👍. All this to be confirmed by field tests however ...
  14. And here we go with the French price - only 1600E 🙂 .... Good news it is ultra light , 750g 👍👍 .. Available starting from December Détecteurs XP DEUS 2 - FMF : Le plus évolué des détecteurs (maisondeladetection.com)
  15. Did you notice the Deus2 SQUARE audio with fluted tones ? Sounds almost like an Equinox ... . Looks like XP wants to challenge ML and the Equinox at the beach / dive, ... Probably the Deus2 will be significantly lighter than the Equinox . However its price will certainly be higher ...
  16. btw QUEST has recently released a new pinpointer : QUEST XPOINTER MAX , with iron disc and a lithium battery QUEST XPOINTER MAX (metaux-detection.fr) Has anybody already tried one ?
  17. TESTING THE QUEST X5 : --------------------------- Note : As there is apparently no dedicated QUEST topic in the forum , I decided to post in this METAL DETECTOR ADVICE and COMPARISONS topic I have tested the Quest X5 a few months ago , first part in spring , second part this summer. The Quest X5 has been released at the beginning of 2021. It is a monofreq machine running at 8khz with a modern control box powered by an integrated lithium battery . The CB is rainproof . The X5 has all the basic settings , sensitivity , volume , 3 detection modes : jewelrey , coins , all metal . It has 4 audio tones. Plus a ground balance . It uses an elliptic 10X6 coil. Last but not least , its price is very attractive at 170E ( 200$ in the US ? ) 🙂 Long story short , I have been very impressed by this little machine . First of all it is very light , weighting only 0.99kg coil cover included ! 🙂 🙂 For info there are only 4 detectors under the kg at this moment , The Deus , the Orx , and now the X5 plus its grandfather the X10 . This lightness will be appreciated by teenagers , women , and others interested by a very cumfortable to use machine ... Second it has a very good audio with an excellent iron filtering ,and very good reactivity on targets . Which means that it can be used in trashy areas like gardens , paths , yards , fields , etc ... The X5 audio recalls me some Tesoros or the teknetics T2's audio, I like it ... I have only used the X5 during 10 hours , but it looks like a robust and reliable detector. I never had any issue with it during my tests. Only a few downsides on this X5 . It is not very sensible to very small targets ( less than 1g ) due to I think its relatively low freq ( 8khz ) . And it has no bluetooth connectivity , only wired headphones can be used . And some displayed screen infos are very basic, like the conductivity scale . But beginners need simple things and the X5 is for me a perfect detector for a beginner. Or a second machine for an experienced user. Or a good detector for a person with a very limited budget ... From what I know the X5 is already a best seller over here in France . From what I have seen during these tests it is well deserved My full test of the X5 below ( sorry in French ) , I hope that Google translate will help 🙂... https://www.metaux-detection.fr/blog/test-du-detecteur-de-metaux-quest-x5-disque-24x14-n19 For info the X10 ( 230e/270$? ) is an improved version of the X5 with 6 audio tones , 4 modes and more detailed screen infos A few pictures : 1) The X5 display ,simple and efficient .. 2) The X5 with a Deus HF during a comparative test this summer 3) 1st coin in this field with the X5 , dating from the 17th century 4) light like a feather ... 5) A very clean and aesthetic design
  18. For me the Deus2 will rather be the XP beach detector ( for sea and lakes ), and the Deus1 will continue to address the inland detecting market. I think that XP will have no pb to continue to sell Deus1 machines because they are excellent for relic/coin hunting in iron trashed areas ...
  19. This recalls me a ( true ) story. A guy from around here found a treasure with his Deus a few years ago . The 1st thing he did was to buy a big BMW ... Me I still have a Deus but no BMW yet ... 😄 Btw one more thing about the XP coils high price . From what I know the XP wireless coils are quite complex to produce and XP makes only a low margin with the coils, due to these high manufacturing costs . Their margin is more important on the control box and the wireless headphones .
  20. Yes $400 is expensive for a single coil , but on the other hand a BMW or a Mercedes is more expensive than a VW Beetle or a Fiat Panda ... 🙂 🙂
  21. A MD dealer in Paris told me that Alain Loubet ( the XP boss ) tests himself the new detectors in the field . Sometimes companies top managers are unfortunately more interested by finance or politics than the product itself . This is not the case at XP where the product is king ...
  22. From what I have heard over here , FMF = Fast Multi Frequency
  23. There are several advantages to the cordless: - this is time saving because there is no need to connect/disconnect the coil at each time . - it suppresses the coil to control box connector issues , like the ones that I sometimes have with my Apex for example . - no more coil cable which is fragile and can be damaged when prospecting in the woods for example - it saves weight and balance , a cable with a its coil and cb connectors weights around 70g Actually it is always difficult to come back to a wired detector when you are used to a cordless machine , just like with bluetooth and wired headphones ... The downside of the cordless is that you need an additionnal device to detect in the water , but I am sure that XP has found a solution for this issue with the Deus2
