  1. Thanks Slavomir ... Very interesting post . Up to now I havent found a reliable separation board test for my local ( and difficult ) conditions and I am still searching 🙂... . I do have reliable bed tests for pure depth assessments but still not for separation .. Yes your test is very difficult, but however no matter the difficulty as long as it is reliable to show the ability ( or not ) of a detector/coil to work in the field in real conditions ... The main difference between your test and Monte board test is the use of a lot of small bits of iron instead of a few big ones. My be this is the key to simulate our local environments , which probably contain much more small bits of iron than bigger ones , especially in open fields where the big ones have been broken by plough and tractors .. It is a very good idea , I will make one as soon as I have some time available and let you know how it goes ... Have you tried this test with other detectors/ coils btw ? thx
  2. Personnaly I use SENSITIVE, 5 tones , HSQ audio . I dont use full tones because it introduces a kind of pitch audio different from the "straight" 5 tones audio and I dont like the pitch audio. Of course the audio is a very personal choice , for example some prefer PWM where others prefer SQ or HSQ etc ... 5 tones works very well for me in France where we have iron infested areas almost everywhere ... I dont modify the other parameters ( discri , negative discri etc .. ) because I am happy with the SENSITIVE factory settings and I like simple things .. And it is very easy for me to reprogram my D2 if I loose my customization for any reason ..
  3. Hi Slavomir , Have you tried your Orx on this nails carpet test ? For me the XPs have one of the best separation abilities and I am curious to know how they perform on this test ... Thx ...
  4. A very interesting post thanks HerrUU ... I think you were simply unlucky with your D2 issues . I have used several WS4s with the D1 since 2013 and now a WS6 and I have only had a few minor issues like changing the headphones batteries , and always at least after 2 or 3 years of use .. Concerning the D2 high price at 1600E , notice that the D2 starts at around 800E with the WS6 master version which has exactly the same performances than the "full" version , with almost all its settings . Personally I dont need the RC for inland hunting, but I understand that other users must buy one , for example beach hunters .. I agree that the D2 is a sophisticated machine with more than 10 detecting modes and a lot of settings , it is rather a detector for experimented users . I would not recommend it for a beginner unless he can be helped/trained by an experimented user.. Le bonjour de Soissons , France , btw 🙂..
  5. Thanks a lot F350 , no youre not misunderstanding my question , everyone is welcome to answer .. If I understand well the 13X11 goes deeper than the 11 . Then I might have a try with it and see how it goes ... My only concern is its weight ( 570g ), but I will use it only during short outings on small areas and swap to the 9 when I am tired ... I just remembered a previous thread Thoughts On The 13x11 Coil? - Page 3 - XP Deus II Forum - DetectorProspector.com , very interesting ...
  6. HI Jeff Thanks for all your infos . Did you notice a depth performance improvement between the 13X11 and the 11 on coin sized targets ( I mean between 2 and 10g ) ? Thanks ...
  7. My Quest mod shaft weighs exactly the same 14oz ( 400g ) . Which means a total of : shaft + deus2 coil 9 = 400 + 330 = 730g . Yeah feather light ..
  8. Wow very nice job I want it ... 🙂 A very professional work .. I had a similar idea btw 🙂. I reused a Quest Q30 shaft . I have been using it during a year now and I am very happy with it , it is very reliable and easy to use .. I like its large armrest and the robust telescopic system.. I am sure you will enjoy your Simplexp 🙂 ..
  9. A few days ago I went to one of my favourite sites ,a field close to a small town where old artefacts ( from 13 to 17th century ) can be found . Probably because there were gardens in the past there . I like this place because it is quiet and the soil is mild and sandy , and of course because of the potential old finds .. As usual I have my trusty D2 with me . I always use the SENSITIVE mode . The only change I have done since the update is to use HIGH SQUARE instead of SQUARE. HSQ works very well in iron infested sites ,this is the reason why I use it especially in this field with old irons ( nails , etc .. ) and modern ones like 1st WW shell fragments . I spent 2 hours there . At the end 4 coins . Only old coins , not even a modern coin 🙂 ... And an old buckle The other targets were mostly 1st WW trash including shrapnells , casings , bullets etc .. It was a nice outing , with a nice weather and nice finds .. Detecting is definitely a great hobby .. A few pics below. Happy New Year to Everyone The field : A double tournois ( 16th century ) : A typical medieval buckle : A broken Nuremberg token : The town center with the Christmas decorations : The 4 coins found during the outing : the 2 on the left from the 14th century , and the 2 on the right from the 16th century
  10. I have a Deus2 WS6 master ( without the RC ) I have updated from V0.71 to V2 a month ago . I didnt have any issue with the V2 after a few hours with it , except I had to reprogram my personal settings which were lost during the update . V2 seems to be very reliable in the field .. For info I use SENSITIVE with the following changes : - HIGH SQUARE audio ( instead of PWM ) - 5 tones ( instead of 3 ) with changes in the tones breaks and tones settings Then I only do a few changes from the factory settings , it is easy for me to reprogram my settings if I loose them by error or during an update ..
  11. Yes the V60 V80 will probably compete with the legend . Quest makes very good products ( I have tested the Q30+ , the X5 and I currently use the Quest Xpointer max ) . For example the X5 or X10 are probably the best detectors for beginners at the moment , ultra light, excellent electronics at very affordable prices . However the Quest commercial/marketing/after service network is weak compared to Nokta , ML or XP. This is why few people know the Quest products .
  12. I have tested the Q30+ . Excellent electronics and excellent audio . Lithium rechargeable battery . Water protected . Recent and moder design . However it is front heavy ( 1.4kg ) with the stock coil and I would not recommend it for children and women . This could be improved with the smaller coil but this coil is not available in France .
  13. As I have updated ( with a little delay .. 🙂 ) my D2 from 0.71 to 2.0 this week , I spent some time to compare SQUARE and HIGH SQUARE . HSQ is a mix of PWM and SQ, I found it very efficient on my areas infested with old irons, using my usual setting ( SENSITIVE , 5 tones ) . I did some depth measurements on my home bed tests and it seems to go a little deeper than SQ especially on little targets ( < 4g ) , I dont know if anyone else has noticed this ... And HSQ do provide more audio infos on targets too as stated by XP . Long story short at the moment I prefer HSQ vs SQ but I need more time to learn/master it , at least 20 or 30 hours . Btw I dont use PWM any more after having used this audio during 15 ( ! ! ) years since my Goldmaxx in 2007 and my D1 in 2013 . First I wanted to change and second I find the PWM audio a little too agressive for me now . SQ is a very good audio but may be a little too filtered . HSQ seems to be a good compromise and I think it will be my choice ..
  14. Yes bad luck probably a faulty RC , XP will probably ask you to send it to the after service . However the WS6 works then you can go detecting with it and by the meantime XP will solve the RC issue. This is the advantage of a Deus2 full version ( RC + WS6 ) , 2 detectors in one then a backup is always available in case of failure .
  15. I noticed in your videos that the NFD90 signals on targets are ( very ) slow ( elongated ) compared to other detectors like the XPs , Tesoros , Teknetics etc which provide sharper signals .. I prefer fast signals because they give more accuracy and a better target recovery . And because they allow a faster coil sweep speed. This is a great plus in iron infested sites Do you think it is possible to update the NFD90 to get something faster ? thanks
  16. Yes videos test in real conditions are what we need . A side to side comparison with an iron trash specialist like an an Orx , Deus , and Deus2 would be a great plus . Personally in my European conditions ( nails beds , moderately mineralized soil ) I havent found a better machine than the 3 XPs up to now, and I am curious to see if the NFD90 can do better than the XPs ..
  17. Looking fwd to see NFD90 field tests in mild soil ( with and without iron trash ) , as I only have mild soil in my area . Perhaps the NFD 90 will work better in mild soils than in mineralized soils
  18. For me the Quest Xpointer Max . It is compact , it has an iron disc ,a very useful screen display , a li-ion rechargeable battery , a very useful OLED screen with the battery level and other infos . It is very reliable too . The best pinpointer I have ever used
  19. Not bad for a clad euro ... 🙂
  20. Hawaii, not bad for a 1st beach outing ... 🙂 Splendid pics and a nice story ... Thanks CPT
  21. And it is now available in France : https://www.maisondeladetection.com/100-detecteurs-quest ( Look at the page bottom )
  22. For nails beds I would suggest to use a very fast detector like an XP deus1 or 2 , a Teknetics G2 ( Fisher F19 ) , Tesoro Lobo supertraq etc . These machine have been designed for high iron trashed areas , they are easy to use and they will do the right job there ..
  23. I would add to this an internet site dedicated to the NFD90 where we could see the specs , price , manual etc .. It would be a great plus for this machine and its potential sales ...
  24. I dont really agree with this . I will dig everything in an interesting area , but a multitone is very important for me because it provides for example target size infos . If I have a low tone , I know that it is a small target which will be shallow . If I have a faint high tone , it will be a bigger target deeply buried and I will dig a bigger hole to avoid to damage it. Honestly it is very difficult to come back to a monotone machine when you are used to a multitone one , and I only use multitone detectors since my ML Explorer in 2002 ... I have an other question about depth . At what depth will the nfd90 detect a big coin ,say a bronze 10g coin ? this in clean and mild soil . Just to check that the nfd90 can be used as a polyvalent detector and not as a very specialized detector which can only be used in very specific situations ( nails beds ) . would be nice if you could show this in a video . Thanks ..
