Thought diving was your business 🙂

Nice gold. Have a better new year!

You're right... Unluckily due to the recent Cov19 trouble, I can't travel so much like years ago and to make a living only hunting for gold is really hard today to say the least.

So sometimes I work as delivery driver for an italian Dpd partner.

Skullgolddiver can you tell how many watts the ACQ 910 is using per hr.

    If I'm correct 160W.

There's a series of "Boyu" or other brands models from 902 to 910 starting at 60W.

But most important thing is the minimum 0.12Mpa pressure and at least 100liters of air provided per minute.

Considering the "normal" air consumption of 30 liters per minute when scuba diving in less than 10 meters in depth, should be enough for the purpose. These numbers are purely to be personally tested.

Pressure however still remain the main pain with this pump. Normally, most of the Brownie's systems works with almost 3Bar...But there's almost no depth limit.

Interesting,i bought an air tank for Pre charged air rifle so i basically got an air tank.........3 hours under water jeez you must be fit!

If You work an area at a depth of less than 6 meters, You can burn all the air without problems.

Sometimes, years ago and with relevant places not visited before by competitors, even two tanks in a row with half an hour stop between two sessions. So almost 6 hours busy fanning holes.

Today I never hunt with the harness and the tank if the place doesn't produce at least some results freediving with a snorkel.

For this reason I'd be happy to solve the problem of too much weight to wear on the body and find an optimal balance to have enough air/time to stay down and a backpack transportable hookah system.

Basically in my mind there's a scuba wing harness with an air pump and a waterproof case in the place of the tank.

Once You're next to the water, just open the belt and let it float, bringing down only the regulator with some security bands on the chest.

Some care to the internal pressure resistance, cause the scuba second stage is tuned to perform at almost 9 bar, reduced by the first stage from a tank pressure of over 200bar. (when the air pump of this "chinese market" hookah is barely able to perform at 1.2 bar.) Here's the hidden danger......

Never dive with over 10 meters in depth without a minimum constant available pressure of 2 bar.

I have built a couple of 12v hookahs, the latest is similar to the Blue nemo, It works fine for shallow diving to 15ft, I use a small 7.2ah battery that gives me an hour, I have 2 batteries in the group 24 battery case I use to contain the unit  and change when needed, it works fine but if the Nemo had been available at the time I would have bought one. The photos show the hookah and the cooler float I use also the inflatable dry bag that holds wallet, keys, glasses etc.

This is actually the setup I was thinking to build.

Have You used the acq 906 or 910 model in your system?

I also want to use a pressure switch to stop the compressor when not needed.Unluckily the provided pressure is not enough without an air reserve box inline with the filters...But this can improve the battery consumption for almost an half more time compared with a continuous running pump.

Good job there, really clean and nice to see too.

  5. I'm in love with this kind of item, so light, so portable in a backpack, but...

Battery consumption is still a tremendous problem, at least for me, used to stay at least three hours down in the shallows with a 15liters tank.

Smaller integrated lithium batteries with a simple waterproof switch will be the natural evolution for this equipment.

I tried to find part of the components to build it by myself and stopped realizing that the 12V compressor needed is NOT a compressor, but probably an inflator with less than 3Bar pressure, activated with a sensor.

However, an hour duration is really too bad for me, even if my back is almost done, I'm still forced to use scuba tanks to get the job done properly.

  6. I actually think that today You still have something good and unmatched talking about target ID.

I fighted to reduce the perfect "golden range" on my Ctx and even with a larger ID scale compared to the Nox, if You don't check for the target trace on the screen, still lot of pulltabs and caps can fool You.

Honestly however, my 8 y.o. machine is the only one that I trust for a dig/no dig decision.

I don't know the ID scale model on the V3i, but for sure it can give a better idea than a Nox with that scale style.

I actually don't understand 50 tones users, cause even if the tone stability is a good trace, what's matter if under the same number are falling dozens of items?

    Just my 2 cents...

Hey folks! I got into recreational prospecting a few years back and love it. One day YouTube decided to show me some metal detecting videos and now I love the idea of jewelry hunting on the beach. Planning to buy a Vanquish or Simplex and get into the game on some NorCal beaches.

That leads me to a dumb question - when the ocean washes over a gold ring on the sand, given that it is so much denser than the surrounding sand why doesn't it sink so far that it's undetectable?

In the Sierras I need to get down to bedrock to find decent gold. Is there a small recovery window to get gold jewelry prior to it going so deep that it can't be recovered? Is the ocean constantly pulling off layers of sand at a rate that's somewhat similar to the rate the gold falls?

Trying to understand the basics so I can grasp where I would have the most luck on a beach in the wet areas.

Actually the principle of a firmer and harder layer is correct if You talk about where the heavy stuff quit the descent...The problem is how fastly will be covered with more sand to be still detectable. This is one of the reasons cause most of finds are usually old stuff buried long time before and uncovered by the ocean in certain days, sometimes years after.

The beach is a sort of an hell, really different from other environments and can change in hours, daily.

Supposing that you have an area on land that produced gold nuggets before, You still can find almost the same area with little differences even months after, maybe with icy ground or snow in the worst case.In the beach, after a tide cycle, anything can be different. It all depends on how far the coil is from targets and this change continuously... That's the principle of crazyness I'm victim of....

Voice control for when hands are full with pick and detector

Yeah, this is something I miss...Unluckily I don't think there's a way to scream a rec. command underwater...I'd like a remote control to push, cause is really hard to start pushing the button when I have it mounted on my mask and without sounds to have an idea of what the camera is doing...Lot of times I've been fooled without records in productive areas, to know it only when out of water...Definitely a pissing fact..

    Curious, what's wrong with GoPro?

They work underwater or out of water so you only need one camera. Small, so no problem to take detecting. Lots of mounting styles available. Great image stabilization. For outdoors stuff they have always seemed like the best option to me but maybe I'm missing out on better options.

You're right, if someone talks about action cameras, the first brand to come to mind is GoPro ... But at least for me, the price is still staggering.Over the years the optics of other brands are now certainly able to do the same if not better and the battery often crack on the prettiest for no real reason. There is probably too much speculation in GoPro or little attention to the capacity of the batteries.

The quality of the image alone, doesn't justifies all this to me starting from the price.

I think GoPro match perfectly the iPhone marketing line.Steep price, dozens of models and new models every 8months.Just crazy.

I want a real price for real performance...The brand can even be FartPro😅

Here is a video about an underwater camera.  What do people here use?

I tried some "hot cheap deals" with a couple of friends.Unbranded toys from China for the most, with scarce success.

I have an old Intova SP1 probably discontinued and still works fine after 5 years.Batteries are the biggest problem with action camera and if you're next to buy one, choose a model with an easy system to replace it.Also, keep in mind that cheap models can't work fine with big storage microSd cards and that You need lot of GB when shooting quality footages in hd.Consider a realistic price of 100bucks to be in the good range..I don't mention GoPro for multiple reasons...

    Hi

thank you to everyone for responding. Like everything else in life it is going to be practice and patience. As a new user I have found the controls to be quite easy to understand and it has a nice interface. I have a feeling my backyard is a cacophony of bad soil and car parts buried ages ago so it may not be the best location to practice on. I did create some sample bags of clad/silver and gold to spread out and bury to learn how the machine reacts to them. I will post my progress and again truly appreciate everyone’s responses!  If anyone is in the northern NJ area please do look me up.

You have the right machine to start and this is maybe the best part of your learning curve as a new user.

Any sound, any number on the screen will have the magic of a surprise.

I tell You frankly, we are like childs near the Christmas time:waiting for a new toy to play with😅

Thanks. Yes that to. We had a smart phone and was looking on som video about how to do noise canceling and ground balancing on youtube. So that might have caused it too? I did not think about that.

Powerlines and antennas can disturb some machines but usually, far enough from the interference source, nothing too bad to be not knocked down with a noise cancel step.

Forget your phone with the Nox, some friends can swear to hear it from other peoples nearby when they approach crowd.

Wet grass can be another fact...Pay attention to G.B. frequently if you are in that specific condition...

Definitely, I prefer to insulate myself with water where almost 99% I only deal with salt🤣

I'm basically a beginner compared to most of the folks here, but if my machine starts getting too noisy, I usually turn down the sensitivity a bit until it calms down. One time it went crazy and I just turned it off for a few seconds and turned it back on and it was all good.

    Hope that helps.

Generally the icon You see on the screen with a shovel inside, means coil overload...

Now, supposing that You don't have around the most common EMI sources like powerlines and other machines accidentally working on the same frequency, I can only think to what's under the soil...If this thing happened to You ONLY in that particular place, I would think to multiple massive objects buried in little depth...I talk about car sized things, with a meter or so of soil above....In my mind this can explain the overload...

Conversely, if you talk about a simultaneous overload signal when You move the coil side to side I starts to think about coil's wire insulation failure or in the worst case water leak inside the coil housing...

Long story short, all of the above prove nothing if this happen only there...

Maybe you found a buried car cemetery, like an old scrap yard🤓

Are you diving open circuit or rebreather?

I use a regular open circuit system..You see few bubbles cause most of the small footage was freediving based.

However I have my method to breath and hear alternately.

Move the coil when you inhale (generally three to four seconds from side to side) and super slowly exhale and repeat to cover again the same piece with few more space...

To keep the breath is never a good idea especially leaving the bottom vertically, but generally if you stay down all the time, You can calm your heart to the perfect slow rythm.

This way you improve a little the air consumption too..
