  1. Merry Christmas to all of You and Your families from Europe 🙏 Skull🤿
  2. I'm sorry too...By the way You can see on YT the machine in action on DetectorComparisons channel. Years ago I excluded to buy It cause with a Ctx and the Excal there was no place and reason for It. Today I'm enjoying the light unit and the quiet operations in strong saltwater due to the small coil. Hopefully with the straight shaft the next week I'll try It again on the rocky bottom.
  3. You're right Joe, there's also a p.i. version but I'm more prone to the vlf one at least to avoid iron.
  4. Jeez 🔥 I'm in love with the pony setup You made💣. For sure they can last a lot less than a 15 or a 12 liters scuba tank but...Trust me, sooner or later I'll switch from the 15 liters mono to a long 12 type mono. Unlike the Nemo or the Nomad, both not that cheap considering the available bottom time, my best plan Is to rely on one smaller scuba tank even for the weight factor. I hunt walking from the car to the water and trust me, all that instruments to transport by hands are a torture🤐... Think about a good used 12lt. long cilinder...Nice ring by the way!
  5. Yeah...😑 The shaft Is the original one. I paid It really cheap cause It Is out of production and mainteinance by the factory now. The machine Is pretty stable and one of the few with an 8" coil I'm in love with ...I'll build a straight shaft as usual during these Christmas days, there's no choice😬
  6. Well...It speaks by itself... Honestly I was without words...
  7. Sure can be Better than a compressed ID scale. For a dry hunt, with the right amount of time and the patience to dig every good repeatable signal, It doesn't matter so much. But now think about me. A medium scuba tank can last up to three hours in the shallows till the danger to remain out of air. Now, if I dig, I burn more air than normal doing not only an effort in terms of physical stress, but progressively reducing my time on the bottom. What a relief can be to trust in a stable ID value (at depth, not only under the coil)? Why to burn more air digging targets falling under the same number as a group? I try to make It simpler. Two clear tones, One of them for iron. If the tone Is High, a Quick check to Id and maybe i'll dig, otherwise, move and proceed to scan. I also prefer iron type response over conductivity. Cause with numbers, still need to investigate how big Is the object and even a golden One can sounds almost like a coin😑. So there's more to say. If You Need to be fast, You can rely in a better id separation with a dedicated number. I don't have time to hear and distinguish a full tone range among bubbles, mixed tone's shades and every hole means less time to leave the area. My 2 cents... No, I don't dig It😂
  8. Sorry, cause I missed to reply here. I know, You lose depth ability with GB but that's the price to pay for some form of discrimination. Try to hunt with GB off and let me know if in two hours You take 90% of garbage on the beach. The pure all metal still remains something I enjoy in the water, not in all places however.
  9. Honestly? I've been in the same choice when I was modifying my baby. The two options You mentioned are for sure good, but if You're afraid to lose depth, stick with a mono and stay to 8" to better handle tight spaces. As You cannot Hunt in the water, a closed Shell can't be a problem for You. It was instead for me, causing terribile floating underwater. https://detech-metaldetectors.ro/en/produs/detech-8-mono-closed-design-coil-for-minelab-gpx-series/
  10. True, but You'll be surprised testing really tiny gold jewels, sounding perfectly at almost 20uS. I can't even Imagine to keep my BeachHunter at less than 20uS especially cause I Hunt Underwater in damn salty too. You're using a low pulse delay that can for sure react bad with volcanic/gravels kind Sand. It simply can't do nothing but continuely retune itself.
  11. It seems You're experiencing nothing more than the "hole" in the ground balance and of course the reaction on that specific ring Is a no sounding machine. I think this Gold ring Is quite big or thick to disappear at the level of GB You describe. I Just think You can leave the GB knob at 9 and forget to use 10uS on delay. Start moving the coil over the sand raising the delay up, until You hear a stable treshold without drift or falsing. Now You can try to ground balance correctly. Normally GB at 8 Is already ok for 90% of places, but if You use It as a discriminator, remember that some big rings can sound like coins with a low tone with a lower GB. Hope It helps.
  12. Adding the fact that the 9" can be the killer setup.
  13. As for now, I'm waiting for a submerged machine test, better in saltwater. I'm a bit afraid of the antenna's conduct when fully underwater especially for the eventual distance of the tip from the coil. It might appear like a stupid tought, but a so thin cable inside the insulation can be destroyed pretty soon if playing with coil and shaft orientation frequently. I'd be glad to know if I can keep the antenna's tip Inside a straight shaft between the coil ears next to the bolt receiving however a good signal connection. I can eventually use an adapter for the remote and create a dedicated dive shaft from a scratch. An Anderson type Is mandatory for me. By the way I love the large ID scale and I think to rely more on the tone break to isolate dedicated sounds for gold and coins range. Including iron audio, four tones will be my choice and rarely the screen in murky waters can help me. Gary talks about stable ID at depth...I hope this can be proved soon cause multiple times jumpy signals are for me a big no, wasting air and energy. Chains and thinner chains in saltwater still to be shown....
  14. The coil/remote connection antenna Is my same and only doubt in this machine. When diving, You're perfectly right talking about scrubbing and damages near the corner. I'm curious to know what's the distance tolered for a good connection among coil and antenna and I'm already thinking to a straight shaft with the antenna hihed inside the tube, barely appearing near the coil's ears and the bolt.
  15. Reading this post caused a relief Steve🤭. I'm now convinced on a risky step that I was waiting since Years. I can't wait to check programs 10/11/12 and mono + salt sens to finally find the key downthere... This machine sounds to me like the final result of a Ctx with a third of waterproof conduct by an Excal...Possibly with more depth and stability and finally able to hear chains in saltwater ...(At least I hope)
  16. I might undertand what You're trying to Say and trust me, 9 about 10 times It Is always better to leave without any word or debate with people around when You're seen like an outlaw guy. I'm Just considering what will happen to all of my stuffs and side hustle if tomorrow the last word from the government can be "stop".... By the way sharing my experience and trouble was even to show what happens when there's no trace of a real regulation. Be sure, if You get sued for a reason that's not punishable, in a way or another You'll finish to pay at least lawyer expences to clean the shit at the best. In the worst case, Something more can be added Just to pay something in cash to the state.
  17. Thanks Tom for Your reply... I perfectly understand your point of view as It is like mine, years ago. Beeing in the junk/lead/coins and gold business since 2005 I acted like a damn soldier (which I really was), assaulting every new coast piece at the first occasion, never talking about spots, never sharing a day with no one but a dive buddy for that day. Unluckily the golden Dream was stopped in a cold winter morning in a place forgotten by God but really well known by a son of a B. This was the assumed beach owner (outlaw invasor for more than 30years and never punished cause of his power in other kind of things). At a certain time the man called the Police with the National Number and after half an hour diving I saw an incredible picture in front or me. Did You ever seen a squad of armed forces waiting for You to leave the water? Did You ever been photographed like a narcos being captured with drug in the hands? I've been sued with other two divers and still waiting for a process since 2015. Fact N.1 there was not any law to apply against Us diving there. Fact N.2 the man that called the police was the one to be taken away from the area as It was a well known criminal and abused of the beach for business. Fact N.3 there was other kind of interesting stuff to be found under the sand (on the dry) and he called the police to avoid much bigger troubles. Now, trouble Is Mine and cause of the area was forbidden to him, I have to explain why my car was there near the beach and for what reason we were diving and detecting there. Can You see a slight shape of Justice in this story? So I'm tired to feel like a criminal when I'm approaching a dive session and I put my face for a dealer in Italy as a technical partner for instruments test sometimes. I'd prefer to M.d. till the last day of my Life, preferrably without the jail menace. My 2 cents...
  18. Right now there's only a big mess. I maked a video on YouTube to explain what will happen and a possible evolution for Us as certified operators but this take time to happen. The government Is not in the mood for a regulation, but for a total stop. Maybe only a land owner can dig inside his property, but we all know this Is unreal.
  19. Sorry Steve if I'm posting on the wrong area of the forum, but I definitely don't know where to properly add the fact... In Italy we're living a really bad menace to our activity, due to a law modification for archaeological areas. As for the government announced in november 11th 2021, all the metal detecting activities are to be considered outlaw in the future and to immediately modify the actual law and create a professional's only authorized list. They mean any kind of professional forced to use It like Airport security, army and public security purpose. For all of the hobbyst the entire land will be forbidden😑. So I Need an international or at least an abroad regulation to translate and apply as a template to show a different conduct proposal to the Senate of Republic in Rome during an audition with dealers and archaeologists. Any link of a complete regulation can be of aid. Thanks to all of You.
  20. As a water hunter and scuba diver, I'm almost frustrated by the scarce choice I have today. After 17 Years spent burning money in way expensive stuffs to get the job done, I'm still forced to rely on my brand new third Excalibur and the one and only Ctx since 2013. Beyond dozens of tests I still need in one machine the waterproof ability of the green mule, a straight Anderson shaft, a trigger pinpoint on the handle, the depth of a Nox on a 8" coil and for the God sake the discriminating behaviour of the Ctx with four dedicated tones by conductivity...Screen Is the least point for my attitude to a true treshold . Minelab, please, note to self: Before 2030
  21. I think the SeaGhost mod for my Ctx Will be the smartest option I have After this winter, cause I'm definitely not a P.I. guy. Also, doing scuba diving 80% of times and snorkeling the remaining sessions, the Excal Is hard to leave at home. There's Only one machine that keep my attention since Years but never tried before and Is a pulse too. The higher delay time of this toy Is a warranty of stable treshold downthere, but honestly I still prefer an 8" coil on every machine i bring down with me. I bought the 10" Excal as an exception for me, due to the unavailable 8"😑...
  22. Actually this was my B Plan, due to the really scarce options we have underwater. The AQ Is Simply to forget, cause I can't even Imagine when the shell Will be adapted for a real underwater work. I suppose never. To buy a new Nox to send it in Ukraine Is way expensive in terms of Total price and I don't like the vdi conduct compared with my Ctx. So at the end of the games, I'll send my old Ctx to be modified and closed. 🕶️
  23. For First I wanna Say Hi to all of You here... I've been far for quite a long time due to mandatory work sessions in the "other Life". The pandemic pushed hard on my little beach business and to pay Bills and keep my little daughter I started again with people transportation in the end of August. Today I was finally out for a day off walking on the beach and Also found a "promising spot to get the job done"... But the tone of this post Is more related to a new beach machine I'm dreaming to own for Christmas. So I Ask to You, my fellows beach Hunters...What Will You buy considering a Ctx, an Excal and a TDI Beachunter already owned? Cause the First Is a sniper discriminator but not that Deep like a Nox...(And not properly waterproof both of them) The second Is maybe the unstoppable pleasure Toy for a diver like me, but blind on chains and thin stuff... The third of my guns already drowned and reanimated a couple times, Will be my pulse last option to never remain without a machine in case of the 3rd world war... So...What's next?
