Beach allows PWM or Square. Dive I assume was designed with the bone phones in mind so square is all that is needed. PWM would not work with bone phones. I also know the pin out for the bone phones are different than audio phones. If you connect speakers to the bone phone pins ( 4&5 ) you can only get square tones, no PWM. Speaker pin out ( 1&2 ) gives both PWM & Square.

You may be correct but hopefully for $1600 it doesn’t happen again. 🙂 -

This will sound really crazy, but mine did that and after pushing the start button hard as hell and holding, it came to life . Now it works with normal pressure on and off. Good luck to you. -

Suggestions For Future MDT Changes
Carolina replied to dewcon4414's topic in Tarsacci Metal Detectors
Dang, he’s going to have to go way back to the drawing board. You guys are asking for everything to change but the name, lol. I only have three suggestions . 1. change the tones. 2. change the warranty length along with the depth rating and waterproofing. 3. updatable -
In my opinion my MDT will have a lot of rest and relaxation time at home as my Deus ll seems to suit me better.

So far so good with V 0.71 for me on salt water beach. 👍🙏

You threw me when you said antenna. Here are two sets of phones I made. IP 68 connector + 42” cable to a set of MSA muffs with 50mm piezo’s and another to a set of pro gold phones.

A Few Notes On The AQ
Carolina replied to cjc's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
That is capacitance involving the shielding or lack of in the connector coupled with the metal locknut. If you read my response work with the tide. Work north to south or parallel to the shore so you can keep the box out of water and follow tide out or submerge the box and follow the tide. Don’t work east to west or perpendicular to shore. -
Hi Dew, the warranty issue you speak of pertains to the WS6 module as it’s not waterproof. The RC is covered by the warranty. That is from Deus. Here is a picture of a very small chain, 6 grams 14k @ 7” and some micro targets even deeper. All salt water. Crayon for size.

This is how I did mine and I believe Cliff also. I coiled my antenna much like the CTX, then installed inside the shaft.

A Few Notes On The AQ
Carolina replied to cjc's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I have never had a failure on the AQ nor any of my many modded Excalibur’s. I know Beechnut received a machine that had corrosion so we both assumed that it was not new. He did get a replacement. One thing about FT. They have always ( Eva, Felix & Tom ) have never disputed any issues I had and always treated me fairly. Here are a few but not all Souriau connectors I use. I have heard of the nibs on the female side wearing down and causing failures over time. I always push in while rotating the male end to take the pressure off the nibs. I might add, that the Vandamme cable has a soft jacket and is loaded with string. This allows for a lot of compression with little rebound should the end of the connector become loose. That is why I incase the cable and pins just in case. It also stops the cable from twisting at the solder joints while tightening. I have repaired several connectors for others for that reason. Unless you are changing coils, there is no reason to open the connection once it has been properly installed. Should it ever leak you will know it. -

Once I have determined the coil connections in the connector are good, after inserting into the connector, I incase them with two part epoxy for waterproofing. -

I replaced the metal locknut with a plastic one Eric made for me and added a 0 ring. I use both machines the same way. Either fully submerged or completely out of the water. I work with the tide. -

Are we talking for the Vishay’s or the Souriau? -
I shall try this with a gold ring, Beach Sensitive mode today. Has anyone tried the original V0.6 ( 1/13/22 ) and no longer available ( 3/13/22 ) large number version to see if it happens there also ?

More AQ Questions
Carolina replied to stateguy's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
The metal locknut helps to create capacitance that creates the false you and many have discussed. If the box is fully submerged or out of the water, it does not false so I work with the tide. CJC wraps his connector with a sealing tape to stop the falsing. I would check his posts as he will tell you what he uses. Yes the delay knob spins 360 degrees. One more thing, the pulse delay marked 11.5 is actually 15 uS. -
I’ll be posting bone phones for sale on the classified section should anyone be interested.

Depth Air Test On AQ
Carolina replied to stateguy's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Volume 9/sensitivity 5>9/ threshold 4>5/ ATS 6>8/ reject does nothing in all metal mode. 10 on delay to 11 should be fine. In tone mode 2>3 on reject. These are my settings. Joe is close to the same. He is a little under the weather right now. Good luck. -
New Sand Scoop From Nokta Makro
Carolina replied to Nokta Detectors's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
This scoop is one of 3 produced all with the duck bill. Olebeechnut had the only titanium version and I believe a gentleman up north ( maybe surf digger ) has the other aluminum model. They are no longer in production. The engineer lost interest but still holds the patent. I have 3 cf shaft manufacturers. The ones in the picture come from SunSpot ( $150 ) I also have another from Steve’s detector rods ( $120 without the nylon navigational cap ) and a travel handle two piece from Stavr scoops ( I believe $120 also ). -

4 years of regular use on this proto type. Lightest scoop I own also. I believe it’s 3440 aircraft aluminum. -
New Sand Scoop From Nokta Makro

The Stealth scoops have many models. Some have 7/16th holes only or hybrid models, with the rear of the skin with slits, others with 1/8th inch holes. They offer different mouth openings also. They are 2mm stainless steel with a lifetime replacement warranty. Ruslan Stavrinskia from Odessa Ukraine makes several nice scoops in your price range I believe. They are known as Stavr scoops. They too are 2mm skins. There are many cheaper scoops made of 1 1/2mm stainless on the market. All US made scoops fetch a higher price than those of third world countries. That’s not to say they are better, just the nature of the beast for many reasons. Here are some pics of scoops I have used over 30 plus years of water hunting. I hunt regularly 11 months of the year. The 3 scoops side by side get the most use. L to R, Stealth hybrid, DiAblo aircraft aluminum prototype, with a higher tensile strength of SS, the only scoop in the world with zero welds, and finally a Stavr scoop. They cover a range of strata from wet granular sand to gravel and shell to baseball size rock. I include a pic of one of the favorite Stavr scoops with 1/2” holes in the skin and a backplate with .35” holes. I think this scoop would serve you well. Also some more scoops used over the years. You can buy $80 scoops and others as much as $600 each. There is a wide variety offered. I wish you many years of success in the water. -
