  1. D2 auto and tracking only I believe. No manual GB. At least I think so.
  2. Not saying this will work but in the past, I have made a straight wire coiled, by wrapping around a cylindrical object and using a heat gun, heat the cable, then place in the refrigerator to cool down. They retain the coil quite well. I will give this a try when you phones come in.
  3. Poor choice of words on my part. This is a good ring, just an example of what may have been missing. It is very hard to get a complete picture of the ring. It is orange in color and it’s location is pretty much what this represents. It’s getting blown out of proportion I think. The leakage is from the back of the connector I am almost certain.
  4. The Souriau connector is not produced by Fisher. I doubt seriously if the sealing O ring is missing or the problem. Having used this connector for over five years now, I have never seen a missing O ring. I have mentioned in other post, the soft Vandamme multi core video cable used for the coil, isvery soft and compresses easily but has little to no rebound ability. You must always hold the larger center section of the connector while tightening the smaller end section before every water immersion. Attempting to tighten the center section with the end all ready tight, will most certainly damage or break the coax. Never tighten the center unless the smaller section is completely loose so the cable does not twist. I have gone the extra mile and sealed all my connectors wiring with two part epoxy so that water or wire damage is greatly reduced. This however is a tricky process. As you can see in the second photo the wire is extremely delicate. Good luck everybody and Merry Christmas.
  5. The HH came in a PI that was designed and built by Eric Foster for Gary Storm. Same design all in the phones.
  6. My guess is that mudwhale is mistaken and JCR is correct. JMHO.
  7. Hi Clive, I spent another four hours in salt water yesterday fully submerged without issues. I don’t understand it. Only once the control box was fully out of water and a wave broke on the connector did it false. Once the connector was completely out of the water it settled back down. Volume 10, threshold 5, sensitivity 5, ATS 6, 10uS. In tone mode which I use a lot, same settings except ATS 8 and reject 2. The signs of water in your connector needs to be investigated.
  8. One thing I have noticed now, and Eric warned me of this, the dual mini cable used for the coils is packed with string and very soft. It compresses well but has zero rebound capability. Therefore there has been connector leakage problems. Every time before you go for a water hunt, you should check the Souriau connector for tightness. There are two sections that can be tightened, and on both my stock coils, it appears that Fisher has glued or epoxied the larger center section but left the small end piece free to turn. This is where the water intrusion takes place. While holding the center section you should tighten the back smaller section every time you go out or check for tightness. I spent four hours with my AQ yesterday, fully submerged with no issues. Knock wood. Good luck everybody and Merry Christmas.
  9. My work with Eric on this project resulted in a detailed seven page report. I am not sure if this was sent to Fisher or not. I do know he had discussions with Carl and Alexandre though. As I have stated before, for what ever reason, Carl has little to do with this design and it appears to be Alexandre’s project solely. Although there are units out there with issues, I have not heard any stories of Fishers refusal to repair or replace or refund monies. I have heard of the same people returning their units multiple times though for service and also of refunds being made. I myself have sent two different machines back for repair or replacement without issue. I am satisfied with all they have done for me and I love my two AQ’s. In defense of Alexandre, the actual design and board configuration is his, but final assembly is done at Fisher and this is where fault may be found with them. I do find it interesting that my friend ole Beechnut, a strong advocate of the AQ has been silent in this thread. His response is deafening.
  10. I too am not arguing but only stating the facts. psu levels off the coast of Virginia are as high as or higher say than the Bay Area of Florida where some but not all have had issues. Also at the head of the Chesapeake bay, psu levels can exceed the ocean levels at times. As you know, temperature, currents and estuaries all play a part in salinity levels. I don’t doubt that some AQ’s are different than others. I know for a fact that they are. There is more to stabilizing this machine than settings alone. If you choose to ignore the capacitance issue, try wrapping your index finger around the handle and ground yourself to the locknut. On some of my beaches I must work from north to south while swinging east to west or vice versa. Coil control is paramount. I have a fair amount of black sand on the ocean front verses dense mineralized clay in parts of the bay. One thing for sure is a deep target will almost always sound off the same as a relatively shallow one so slight chatter at times can be ignored. I wish all the best with their machines and if your ever on the east coast give me a PM.
  11. As I stated, I hunt the lower Chesapeake and the Atlantic. Lower being the mouth of the bay.
  12. I guess I can count myself lucky. Here in Va. Beach Atlantic Ocean, both of my AQ’s run smooth on all but 1/2 block out of 80+. I do have a lot of chatter off one certain hotel so I assume under ground power or strong WiFi. In what I call the wash ( knee deep and shallower ) or just above the rim my machines run well with mostly smooth threshold. I have dug a multitude of gold as deep as 17” at best guess. In the lower Chesapeake Bay, opposite from Beechnut, I can work fully submerged to chest deep or thigh deep and shallower. If the control box is fully submerged or completely out of water there is no issue for me. If a rouge wave splashes the control box, the detector will sound off. Eric had one of my machines for four months and did exhaustive research and one thing he found, was the locknut on the female connector is metal not plastic. It develops capacitance and creates the machine gun effect and false signals when the waves hit it. He made me some plastic nuts that greatly reduced that problem but did not eliminate it completely. I work with the tide though and keep the box mostly submerged and a few hours completely out of the water. I did have an issue with a sealing washer missing on my threshold pot and Fisher promptly replaced it. I know that Alexandre has plans for a different coaxial pin that will not break the shield as is done with the limited pin which he thinks will cure the capacitance issue. I can tell you I have first hand knowledge that Carl Moreland and Fisher engineers have little to do with the AQ. It is Alexandre’s baby and he appears to be the sole engineer for this project. I bought my AQ limited with the idea it was to give my 2 cents worth to First Texas on my thoughts of its pros and cons and what could be done to better it. Like I said at first I must be lucky as I would not part with either machine. The tone mode allows me to skip nearly all the coins on my beach and concentrate on gold only. A 18k pig with a large silver content can give an iron grunt, but knowing my beach and realizing that ring most likely will be deep in the wash rather than mid or high beach, I know when to dig the grunt. I wish everyone had the same experience that I have with mine and maybe Alexandre will turn one out soon. Good luck everybody and Merry Christmas!!!
  13. You can please some of the peopl some of the time but not all the people all the time I think is fitting here. Thanks Dilek !!!
  14. Just another example that Notka/Makro is listening to the metal detector community !!!
  15. Just a thought here. Garrett and Fisher are American made. Let’s not forget Tarsacci.
  16. The production model connector is the same, but the pin configuration is not. A coaxial pin will be employed so as not to break the shield and reduce the capacitance and help improve the gain noise ratio. The limited coils will not work with the next series AQ models and vise versa.
  17. He prefers to talk by phone as it’s easier for him to speak English rather than type or text. I am pretty much using my AQ thru the winter or a Excalibur so the offer still stands. Good luck.
  18. I live very close to you and have owned my Tarsacci nearly three years now. Call Dimitar and he is lighting fast on repairs. I have not had an issue with my pp button but I rarely use it. Should you not have your machine for DIV you can borrow mine. Good luck.
  19. Wishing you and your family strength at this time and look forward to you getting back to your old self again.
  20. I wish someone would invite my Tarsacci out to one of those Chesapeake fields. 😇
  21. My question was more in response for his sake. I am strictly a water hunter and my salinity balance changes drastically depending on coil and or frequency used. In water that would be a high frequency salinity setting and would never work for 6.4 or 9 kHz. I don’t know if that holds true for dirt.
