  1. Looking world wide I think they will have no problem in the $2500 range. They have years of R&D as well as the only PI that accurately discriminates iron. I see a well used out of warranty gpx 5000 here for sale $2600. It took me less than a month to pay for my first AQ and nearly the same for my second. There may be a third once the new version shows up. Good luck everybody and stay safe from the virus !
  2. Well my 2cents worth. My AQ in tone mode will ID iron objects of size every time. When it comes to bobbie pins only circling the target will give the tell tale double blip not the broken or iron grunt. Keep in mind I am 70 years old and my ears may not be as in tune as others may be. This is with ATS 8.5 reject 3 or 4. I guess maybe I should do some experimenting with the ATS setting. I followed Alexandre’s video on maximum depth for tone mode. I am though very pleased with the AQ limited after a few mods. If you look at the cost of PI detectors from Minelab his price is within their pricing. Their machines however will not disc. iron objects as the AQ tone & mute mode does. This being said, I am not aware of the performance of the GPX 6000. Now there is a pricy machine I think. Even the 4500 & 5000 can hurt your pocketbook. I think the old saying, you get what you pay for might hold true for the AQ. Good luck everybody.
  3. I’m fairly sure the production model next to appear will not be digital. For me, I am quite satisfied with the limited and Joes battery with a M12 phone jack. I have several mods already on one of my machines. For those who hunt the water, sand and grit can play havoc with that cam lock. Either it is hell to get loose or hell to get tight. Here is my solution below. Good luck everybody.
  4. I myself can not be happier with my two AQ’s and in no way regret buying them. As a matter of fact I feel like, after a few modifications, I have a better built unit than the unlimited or whatever they call it. I’m not to big on the phones coming out the back of the control box and Joes battery gives me a nice M12 phone connection and plenty of run time. On top of that with only 30 or so out so far, it may become a collectors item. And as far as depth and gold, I have found none better for my area. So to each his own and thanks Alexandre. Also the service from Rick and First Texas is superb. Good luck everybody and stay safe.
  5. I have had mine under chest deep for four hours at a time. One thing you will notice, if you look closely at the battery cap, it read IP 67. I also closed off my speaker grill via a thin piece of plastic and silicone.
  6. I talked with Dilek about six months ago and she told me “ the name has been chosen, but announcing it would give the impression it was near release and it is not” end of quote.
  7. Quote: it’s true though a narrow deep pulse signal is always going to be non-ferrous — simple physics. This statement is much different than narrow signal that’s round — there is a very good chance that it will be non - ferrous. I also disagree that it’s simple physics. I do agree with your second statement partially that being there is a chance it will be non-ferrous. JMHO. Good luck everybody in 2021.
  8. I keep hearing snippets of Minelab releasing a new machine. Can anyone elaborate on this. That covers a broad range of detectors. Thanks
  9. Hi Dew. Definitely strange. My thoughts. $59 for a charger to see if it’s the battery or toast ? Put it in your show case up front and marvel at it, and keep the $59. Nice.
  10. I sent mail to Joan Allen weeks ago in reference to their add showing the LIMITED addition and £1000 pound price with questions to clarify their add. They did not respond.
  11. Hi Dew, guess he doesn’t want to sell it to me. He never sent me any info. Oh well, may be for the best. Wish you a happy new year and good luck.
  12. Try working east to west so that your swings are parallel to the water rather than working north to south which makes your swings east to west. Moving from wet to damp and damp to dry will give you a false signal.lower your sensitivity down to the suggested as Alexandre states you gain very little depth after settings 4 or 5. Also the earths magnetic field can evoke a response on the end of a swing as your coil cuts thru this magnetic field. I feel sure your issue is the the change from damp to dry and damp to wet though as well as trying to run a bit hot. Good luck everybody.
  13. Thanks Dew. If they use the 4 drop in EBL batteries i think the run time will be fine. I doubt Joe would try and tackle a battery for this machine. His first battery for the limited was 4 EBL’s like the MDT uses. It had a good run time.
  14. I’m curious where you saw an additional grand for the next version? I have not seen a price yet. Thanks
  15. I think it’s an 8” coil not 6” and I know it has been tested. To small for my liking so I have gone other routes. Merry Christmas Dew.
  16. That’s correct but nevertheless for sale overseas for the limited.
  17. I see the limited AQ for sale over seas now on Joan Allen detectors. $1377.00 cheaper than I paid.
  18. Both my stock batteries gave me 3.24 hrs each. I do not use them now though. All metal mode will drain your battery faster than tone mode so yours does not sound right. The batteries do drain down a bit when just sitting so I would charge just prior to your hunt. Beechnut offers a couple of different batteries and set ups if your interested. I know it’s a shame on the stock battery performance but just remember to charge just prior to use. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
  19. Hay, I didn’t get no cap !!! Dimitar has been generous with extra parts for me though. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
