I believe that Mr Dankowski had the opportunity to test the first version with Carl Moreland.

And he said this is the 2nd best PI detector for the beach he had ever had.

According to him, the first was the Aquastar, which I had for years with retro engineering at the time (just for fun), and which has no ground adjustment, and is at least 40% in below the sensitivity of the IMPULSE AQ on all of our tests.

Nostalgia sometimes obscures reality, but I think any good prospector reacts that way ...

Deborah I tried to explain to Willy you were chest deep same as Joe when your issue occurs. Maybe I should have not mentioned Joe. On one of your comments you said you knew it was designed for wet surf beach. Although I never have seen an LE JAG video in the water it is rated for one meter and the Souriau connector is ip68 so I would think they planed on chest to neck deep. I certainly did as well as another pirate friend of mine up north.

We think that Deborah has a problem specific to her own AQ system.
Nothing to do with Florida waters.
After reading her last (doubtful) report after exchanging her 12.5" coil, we do not know whether there is still a problem on her system (outside of the exchanged coil) or if it is a swing procedure problem.

A PI system automatically re-calibrates when swinging with varying heights during the swing. It feels this as a change of ground conditions and adapts to it.

Alexandre has clearly shown this on a specific video.

Yes at start up I always search for the quietest frequency giving some time between settings. My EMI chatter is minimal at best. There is no problem discerning a small amount of chatter and even the soft low response of a deep target. Thanks for all your help.

Willy, thank you but this is puzzling to me. I live on the US east coast of Virginia. With sensitivity at 4 or 5 ATS 8 1/2 and reject at 3>4 tone mode is very stable in the surf knee deep and sometimes deeper when a wave rolls in. Occasionally a wave hitting the coil cable or increasing the depth of the water by a foot or so the detector will sound off. It is a little and I mean slightly chatty in tone and quieter in AM. More of a EMI issue than salinity. I do swing east and west at times but prefer to face the waves and work in and back out swinging north and south. I have zero complaints and my salinity is shown the same as the gulf of Florida. I really thought Deborah was having issues in deeper water so thanks for straightening me out. I knew of Joes issue as he scans his basket with his coil at times. I will use a pin pointer. He has cured his issue with a cut off switch for his phones. 

I’m not sure but I think the issues show up in waist to chest deep water with control box submerged as Joe uses his machine in the upper Chesapeake Bay. I have not had an opportunity to submerge my unit in the lower Chesapeake Bay. 

I believe Alexandre answered this question from you in another thread about the AQ. Yes 11.5 is actually 15 according to Alexandre.

Well here is a shocker. I for one am satisfied with the connector I have now and can work around these issues. Thank you Alexandre, Willy and Carl for all your hard work!

I only run tone mode at the ocean front as it nearly kills me knee deep in the wash to retrieve a target and tone mode is somewhat shallower than all metal. Plus I enjoy the grunt on dimes and quarters as well as those pig high k rings. I dig everything anyway but am learning the slight difference in tones I hope. I have very little iron so the anticipation of that big ring when I get that grunt picks me up. 😃 I suppose when I only am able to hunt wet and damp sand I will try all metal as well as my Bay spins chest deep.

To echo what Joe said, to de tune the detector would be an injustice. I do wish the 8” coil miraculously became a 10”. 😀

Ocean side. I have yet to go in the Bay. I prefer Autumn and winter for the Bay. I do need to make a Bay spin to submerge the AQ and see how the coil reacts.

The beach is very clean. I have friends who cover lots of ground in their style of detecting. Today my friend said he went 11 blocks before his first target. I have a different style. I pick a certain block to hunt and beat that one block to death. Deep in the wash north and south and follow the tide to mid beach. Then East and west as deep as I can get in the wash and up the slope. It takes most of the battery to cover one and a half blocks. All these targets came off one block.

Day six for anonymous was a lot better than day five. Basically the same settings as before volume 8, sensitivity up to 5, threshold 4, ATS 8 1/2, reject 4 and delay back up to 9. Can not help but dig the caps and tabs. Dime was a grunt, nickels sharp and tight. 10k ring with good diamonds and grill were sharp also. Rest tomorrow back at it Tuesday. Good luck everybody.

My AQ runs smooth as silk in the Atlantic coast of Virginia at a depth of 2’ in the surf even at 7u’s. That is in all metal, volume 8, sensitivity 4>5, threshold 4, ATS 6>8. In tone mode is a slight bit of chatter volume 8, sensitivity 4, threshold 4,  ATS 8 1/2, reject 4, and I prefer 9 on my delay as it seems to help stop the small shards of steel from detection. I have not entered the waters of the lower Chesapeake Bay Area as of yet. Fingers crossed. I would add, I set my tone mode up the same as Alexandre does in his video. The difference I see is he gets his first iron grunt at ATS 7 1/2. I do not get my first until 8 1/2. Not sure what this has to do with anything. He does not say what his reject is after backing it back down. Mine is 4.

Day 4 of anonymous with AQ was a rest day.

Day 5 of anonymous with AQ, targets far and few between. Rough surf prevented getting down deep in the wash. Volume 8, sensitivity 4, threshold 4, ATS 8 1/2, reject 4, delay 8. A little chatter but no problem picking out targets. Tungsten carbide  and mood ring was the best of it.

I dont use pp often because it mostly sucks on the Nox. I rarely use single fx mode, but I do sometimes, so I think I will do this update. Wish they had gone witb 2.5khz instead of 4khz. Seems a small change fro. 5khz to 4khz, I have some detectorpro units that run at 2.5khz and those things are coin and ring vacuums. Even work well in salt water as a single fx machine. I guess I can roll back if I dont like this update. I just hate to discover I have some detriments with no real benefits to my type of detecting. Sidebar, on the Simplex, you have to have the latest update to use the new coils they came out with, and their new machines cant be rolled back to the original 2.68 version software as it bricks the new machines. Just an fyi, not saying the new Equinox's would suffer that fate, just an interesting (to me) anecdote. Thanks for reading all of this if you have lol. 

I noticed a video on the new update from Gigmaster in Virginia that said you can’t roll back from 3.0. Said your stuck with it. True ???

I have owned my first Tarsacci over a year and a half now and have tried no less than five different sets of phones on it. I liked it so much I bought a second one used. I also prefer mixed mode as it is ( for me ) deeper than all metal or disc. I too have a rough time with the high tone but for me, after much testing, the Sun Ray Pro gold are by far the phones of my choice. I am a water hunter mostly and I don’t worry about them not being waterproof. With the control box submerged mostly, I rely on tones only. I especially like the volume controls to balance out the audio. Don’t let the simplicity of the machine fool you as there really is a multitude of settings available in combinations that at first you may not pick up on. All in all, it is a fantastic machine. Congratulations on the nugget. First time out that ain’t bad !!!

Joe, I don’t think you have had the control head or the battery three feet yet. I know how tall you are and you would need a snorkel or be drowned one.😂. That’s unless you have dropped it down. Even chest deep and a two foot hole it would not be three feet so I wouldn’t give it any worries. Like Steve said, it’s the power cable that’s the problem. Nice of you not to tell Rodney, class act.

Well my friend got his CF handle back and his 720i scoop. They replaced both. The handle seems to be a close match to the original but the scoop not so much. One spin in the salt water and the next day shows rust. The retaining rings have a different pattern or design and the support rods are welded to the front of the ring rather than towards the back. That prevents using the long end of the Allen wrench at first to speed spin the bolt up tight. The support bracket blocks the Allen bolt so the 90 degree end must be used at all times. The scoop belly pan is different also. The old scoop had the complete belly pan full of holes. The new scoop has a 1/2” solid strip at all the angle breaks front to back. Not sure if the SS is 1 1/2 mm vs 2 mm and they are for strength. Turn around time was fast though so we will see how both hold up.

They are excellent scoops. Chuck sold the company to a Vietnamese owned company in California. I read that their SS was not up to par but do not know. My friend just sent his in for a crack in the retaining ring and his CF scoop for the retaining nut in the bottom.Just got a letter that they are replacing both under lifetime warranty. That is a good thing. I will post the quality of replacements when they come in.

Well I have found out it is a Vietnamese Company that had nothing to do with sand scoops when they bought the company. They are in California and weld SS grills and other SS products. I do not know their quality of work though. I will check with my friend and let you know his thoughts.
