    Carolina,

Very nice.  I learned many years ago in the Army that for some reason electronics/radio stuff just doesn’t click with me and I can never wrap my head around any of it.  So looking at your diagram, it should be possible to cut the adapter off the end of the bone phones and replace with a 1/8 adapter as long as the positive and negative were connected correctly?  Additionally, only square tones would be able to be utilized?  Thanks again.

Yes to both questions. I do believe they sell a RC jack adapter that you could use for 15/20 $. If you are submerging it then you could buy the proper size waterproof shrink wrap and enclose it. That might be easier. I used waterproof shrink wrap to connect the waterproof connector with 24” of cable to the phones above after I soldered the connections. I did not know about the adapter at that time.  No problems fully submerged since February.

I traveled and hunted with Warren and company for a couple weeks, and the gold we all found was all about the same size, hunting well pounded locations. All the big stuff is gone. In my case I actually found a sixpence. In the case of this ad, its a newer one set there merely to provide scale for the gold nuggets. The nuggets in fact are from Warrens earlier trip to Tibooburra. Due to the lead time needed for magazine ads, the stuff from our trip was too late for this ad.

You are reading more into the ad from that coin than is intended. Garrett is really wanting to promote this as a gold nugget detector, so I'm actually going off trail talking about beach, relic, or coin detecting with the machine.

I’m not reading anything other than the resemblance of the two post. (Yours which I can not find anymore) did read Axiom not just for gold. That’s a pretty clear statement although I believe you did say it was a partial or junk signal. Not sure as maybe you pulled the post.

I like that kind of accountability challenge!

An hour or so ago I posted on a ML Manticore thread the Manticore Christmas ad in the most recent Gold Prospectors magazine.  Here's the back cover of that same issue with one of your recent mates.Axiom_ad.thumb.jpg.18f7128c5315e9611f76d3154711fb1e.jpg

I suspect both images are somewhere on the internet (Facebook?) and maybe have been there for awhile.  Doesn't seem that long ago (couple months?) when all this was understandably top secret.  Good times ahead, even if not everyone will be satisfied with the actual release dates.  "...You can't please all of the people all of the time."  (Attributed to English Middle Ages poet John Lydgate.)

Uncanny resemblance of Steve H. picture, Axiom not just for gold. Nuggets and six pence.

I'm intrigued by the new coil and I wonder if the improvements on the dive shaft in terms of firming things up would help this coils extra weight on the wet sand. I'm hoping someone on here gets it and gives us a report on the balance and weight. I'll take any advantage I can get in the wet sand.

I haven't seen a price but I'm assuming $400+. That's a lot of money in this economy to experiment with. I may have to wait for the used market to open up on the coil to try it out.

There will be a used market for sure. Just to dang heavy. They should have used light weight potting material.  I believe this is the coil that was used on the Deus 2, How deep will it go video.

I am noticing that sometimes the AQ makes a dominant tone on each swing at the wet of the beach. I’m not able to reduce it- unless it reduces depending on the EMI setting chosen (I didn’t spend a long time testing this)...  I had a long hunt today - 3 beaches 10am to 3pm. I was running on OBN’s short battery. Later in the day I was able to greatly reduce the tone. I’m wondering if it is a particular output voltage of the battery that made it work.  The Fischer team says no the operating voltage is regulated.  I’m wondering if it is really true.

The tone is from the salt content in the wet vs the drier sand. If it becomes annoying to you, rather than swinging the coil East to west you can swing north to south to remove or greatly reduce the the ping. Also slowing down your swing speed and raising the ATS may help. The operating voltage is regulated. Joes small battery should give approximately 5 hrs 15 min. run time.If it falls below the regulated voltage I’m not sure what takes place. I would assume it shuts down. If you own one of the first 30 machines or so sold, there are issues with the machine. One is, no matter where you adjust the frequency, it will default back to factory setting once you switch to any of the 4 operating modes. This along with several other timing issues were corrected after the 30 or so machines were sold.

  6. Seems like to me, it’s your unit not the update that is the issue. Many have uploaded v 0.71 without any clock issues, I myself being one of them. I would send your RC back for a new one and rely on the WS6 module to get you thru in a pinch. My thoughts are a new update will not help you. Good luck with whatever path you take.

Did @dogodog and I run into you when we were "pillaging the booty" at VA Beach? 🤔 He had an Equinox, I had a Deus 2. 😀 🏴‍☠️

I do not believe so. I run a D2 most of the time since February of this year. Trying to learn it. I imagine we did see one another just didn’t talk. Maybe next time I will have the pleasure.  Take care.

  8. I don’t quite know how to respond. I believe we were all newbies at one time or another. And as you said, no one owns the beaches. I myself applaud him for striking out for new territory and being adventurous. Who knows, he may become a good friend someday. Your friend seems to be a bit of a nervous Nellie to me. Anyway, where I’m from you must rely on your skills to out preform the many detectorist that come and go here daily. That Equinox opened up a whole new breed of hunters here in VA. Beach as a new pirate shows up almost every day. The winter time seems to weed them out though and things return as it was years ago. Dry suits and winter weather is quite peaceful here, but come spring, sure as rain, the NOX hunters will be back again. Lol. Good luck in all your adventures.

Longbow is a good guy too. I think he is wrong about Steve however. But let's try to be as civil as possible here please. Maybe John Boy will chime in here too. I think he is a member.

I think I have been civil. I am a little offended by your comment though. I live five mins. away from Gig. I have shown him these post. I’m sure it has hurt his feelings some. He only showed the truth. Did the machine leak in your opinion around the charging port ? That is all he was showing. Nothing more, nothing less. How can you tell me to be civil and not say the same thing to Lonngbow ? He all but slandered the man. I guess I’m not being civil now. One thing for sure, your name is Jeff, not Steve and you are not the moderator so judging me from your point is not civil. Sorry but you have upset me. I will not comment anymore on this topic. You guys can slug it out.

find 4 machines that have cracked around the charging port to be really strange. 4 machines that have leaked owned by the same user most likely has something to do with the user doing something that causes it.

I think you are adding fuel to the fire. The only person I have heard that said Gigmaster had four Equinox’s that leaked is you ! He says he owns four machines and he loves them but nowhere does he say all four leaked. Maybe pay a little more attention before you comment.

Steve (Gigmaster) does a lot of jewelry recovery in neck high saltwater surf and snorkeling for people that have lost their jewelry. So, his Equinoxes have been in some rough saltwater conditions in moderate surf and tidal pressure. Who knows, maybe that has had something to do with the cracking around the charging ports of his Noxes especially if there is a weakness or thin area in the housing around that port.

I know Steve very well and have done many spins with and around him. As a matter of fact I spent some time on the beach with him yesterday. He hardly ever ventures more than waste deep and only a few shallow water dives yearly. I am more prone to think that poor contact on the charging port creates heat that may affect the cracking. Also I would say world wide more than a thousand flooded machines have taken place vs the actual number of water hunters is alarming.

You definitely have to mind which pressure plug you use in the Deus! Sure it's a bit more fiddlly thing the Equinox, but I still like to drive a fancy vehicle now and again. 😁

If anyone can’t follow simple instructions between red and gray, the Deus ll probably is not for them.

  13. The Deus ll IMHO can run circles around the Equinox. No where can you find the frequencies for the programs on the Equinox. The Deus ll gives you 12 programs and the frequencies they are weighted towards. This is a huge bonus if you wish to cross check a target from high conductor to low conductor by changing frequencies at a push of a button. If your a water hunter like myself it sure comes in handy. I do see that we have problems with the gold mode and possibly the clock. I suspect the next update will clear that up. I feel I can fine tune and write my own programs easier and more thoroughly with the Deus ll and have no fear of submerging it in any water. As far as the Manticore goes, who knows if it will make it out by Nov. and how well it survives the water. The Equinox was a game changer for sure so we shall see what the Manticore does. Meanwhile I’m diggin gold in chest deep saltwater with my Deus ll. I suspect the quick release ahead of time for the Manticore is aimed a slowing the sales of the Deus ll which might have slowed the Equinox sales a bit. They certainly have created quite the buzz on the forums. I’m sure that makes them happy and many will now hold off buying the Deus ll for now. Fine by me as I dig my gold. 😀

Hello everyone, I often take my Equinox to the beach, and every time it reaches the shoulder depth, the main engine has leaked twice, but after two times Minelab could not replace the new main engine, I tried other brands, and finally came back to Equinox, I can't live without Equinox!! Do you have any good tips, or be prepared, more effective to prevent water entry!6725979C-D78F-41BF-9717-E8F98C4D19DF.thumb.jpeg.ca8695f3f163c4ba8423c159c15c9840.jpeg

Have you tried the Deus ll ? I think that will satisfy your needs. Why would Minelab refuse to replace the control box no matter how many times it leaks if warranty is still valid ? I would raise hell.
