The only glitch I have noticed on the 0.71 software is the clock is all over the place, even if I set it before I go out its either gained or lost a couple of hours, I know why now it's a time machine!! Lol

My clock seems to keep perfect time. 0.71 update. Just checked it and all is good. Guess I’m just lucky.

Got some nice cuts but black sand is deep.  Buddy hunting with Nox could only use pinpoint to hunt.  Still a lot of chatter even with PI.  Slowww going.  I hear some beaches were stripped down to pay layers, but haven't run across one yet.

Moving southward looking for the glory hole!

I am jealous here in Virginia. Sand being pushed in by the truck load !!!

Even my AQ can’t reach the gold. 😩

Good video Jeff and good info. There's always something people point out after you post a video that maybe the video maker overlooked. I find myself in that position all the time. Making videos is not easy and often times goes unappreciated by those watching.

I think XP watches the videos people make and if they are smart will make the changes people want. I'd like to think that's why they added disc notch to the gold and relic program after all the fuss I made about needing it gold hunting. But who knows.

But yea the Deus 2 is far from my first choice gold nugget hunting. It's too weak on small gold. Can it find gold? Yes as I've found a few nuggets with it. But the gold has to be in the .30 gram and above size to be detected on any kind of consistent basis. There's been a few people who want to say this and that about the Deus 2 and how great it is at everything. But I'll tell you straight up, it doesn't do well on small low conductors and higher the mineralization the worse it gets.

I am sorry to hear about your ankle and wish you a speedy recovery. I really am. I also am sorry that you did not see JMHO. I guess it best not to comment if you question something on a video. Only if you agree should you have an opinion. A bit snarky answer, but it is just my opinion. I am sincere when I say I hope your ankle heals soon.

Can’t run reactivity of 1 in any goldfield I know of due to iron mineralization. Running a higher Silencer setting in Deus Mono may also “silence” targets near the ferrous/non ferrous break along with non ferrous signals being pulled down into the ferrous range like two of these targets were in the video.

No Silencer adjustment in FMF Goldfield.

The targets were not ground balanced out with either detector. If I didn’t ground balance on camera people would tell me about it too

You weren’t in a gold field. You said it was 5 on a scale of 10, moderate mineralization according to the Legend. And as close as the Deus coil was to the targets I do believe they were balanced out. Why not balance a foot away. Same soil I would think.

Thx interesting video at least it shows that the Multinator has a better iron disc than the Equinox on big ferrous  ...

But still no depth comparisons vs other detectors  although it would have been very easy for those Polish guys to do one , at least vs the Equinox.  Weird they all have carefully avoided the depth topic during the different Mcore presentations up to now ...

I would love to see a depth test similar to the Deus ll depth test video. One of the best I have ever seen. La Torche just posted it by coincidence on another Deus thread. Perfect timing.

    I never use coil covers to save weight/balance . I never had a a coil issue since I use XP ( 2007 ) then during 15 years ...

However I  dont live in a rocky area . In rocky areas I would probably use one to protect the coi ...

I too have never used a coil cover on any machine until now. I am only quoting the warranty section on the coil in the Deus ll manual. At the cost of this coil, I will not give them an opportunity to refuse replacement due to a coil cover. Read the manual.

    Received my D2 WS6 pack yesterday ( 9" coil + WS6 wireless headphones : total 750€ ).

The WS6 is easy to start and use . The coil + shaft is ultra light , 725g with the S-telescopic shaft coming from my D1.

The 9" FMF coil itself weighs 330g ( without coil cover ), much lighter than the 11" ( 420g ).

I did a few depth tests , it goes deep , quite impressive , almost as deep as the 11" and much deeper than my D1 9X6 HF .

Sounds very good ,first outings in the field planned for next week ...

Nice !!! Just a reminder, don’t run that coil without the coil cover. Warranty states if any scratches on the bottom of coil are observed, warranty is void.

Most any coil that will work on a TDI/GPX will work on the AQ. A potential problem is that a lot of those coils may not work down to 7us. I once put an AQ coil on a TDI and could then run the TDI down to 7us, but with the stock TDI coil 10us was the limit.

One of the coils Eric tried was a TDI test coil you had made. Had not been potted yet. No sense to list it. I have found that 10uS is the sweet spot for me here on the east coast salt water. I very rarely use 7uS except high on the slope after storms looking for chains. I don’t think there are any coils deeper or quieter than the 12” &  8” stock coils and Eric’s 10” once tuned properly.

  9. I have found the mail. Some are Whites coils, some coiltek and a couple test coils for the TDI. I can tell you any coil around 300>375 uH and 3 ohms resistance should work. However the cable used may be an issue. The AQ uses a mini coax and that is what we finally ended up using. A Belden  1808 A  2 C 3 0   shielded video cable. The following were bench test only. It will still work with a 5 ohm coil but slightly less depth due to the lower pulse current. These were tested with their original cables. Again bench test. Until we changed to the mini Belden, I shipped several coils back after field test were unacceptable. I can tell you i X rayed the stock coils (8”) & (12”) and there is nothing special about their construction. I did not include the 2 TDI test coils as they are not available.

    Whites 12” TDI

    Whites 7.5 Dual Field

    11” Goldscan 2 DF 1992 vintage

    Coiltek 14” x 9” elliptical mono

    Coiltek 15” mono

    Nuggetfinder 24” mono

The last 3 need an added resistance of 2.2 ohms to bring them close to the 3 ohms required. The resistor will get warm so it needs to be in a box. Above water only.

Anything to watch out for trying a coil on the AQ?  I have a Beach Hog Bigfoot style coil I’ve used with my GP Extremes.    Don’t want to kill the AQ!

I have a list of either seven or nine coils that Eric powered up with the AQ. A couple had to have some dampening but I believe 7 worked straight out of the box. I don’t think you will hurt the machine though. They will either work or not.  I have hundreds of mails over the years so it may take awhile to find. I’ll let you know.

  11. My Tarsacci is deep but to put it bluntly, the audio sux. Not so much the ping pong but the clarity and volume. Now Aaron has one that was made for a hearing impaired customer. Now it is what you need. Different frequency and tones. I asked Dimitar could he do that to mine. His answer was no. 😥. I know Dew asked for suggestions on what the new Tarsacci should be like, as Dimitar  was curious. Don’t know what ever came of that. He definitely has the best customer service of all the machines I own. He will talk to you on the phone anytime.

Actually the Equinox uses a 26650 3.7V battery which is similar in weight to two 18650 3.7V batteries so there is no noticable weight difference. However, with two 18650 batteries, the unit can run at 7.4 volts.

Well it could if they are series but my money says they are parallel and still 3.7v. That would give it more current, the work horse of the battery. Don’t know how many mili amp the NOX is. JMHO. I also think that they did this type of release to help stop the Deus ll sales that may have also slowed the NOX sales and help insure a certain amount of Manticore sales. Good luck everybody. Big weekend coming up for the beach guys.

  13. 1 hour ago, Jeff McClendon said:

    It does......

It also means that the Manticore has twice the power output source of the Equinox which could mean it has more power to offset its better EMI shielding (reported), more power for use of a wider range of frequencies and its much lower frequency weighted programs as opposed to the Equinox (reported) and more visual target identification features (easy to see on the display).

Whether two lightweight lithium batteries instead of one drastically changes the way Manticore feels ergonomically compared to the Equinox......we will individually find out soon......maybe.

And it might be to help with run time between charges with the extra bells and whistles.

Yes there is a Salt mode.  There is a video that talks about Detection Modes.  Salt mode is near the end.

Thanks for your reply. I think you missed my point. Yes it has a salt mode as I stated. Are there any videos of it on a salt beach ? That clam shell coil will only be good for a couple inches of water before it wears you out holding it down. I’m interested what it is doing to compensate for the salt. Is it just dumbed down or some new technology or combination of both? I think this is a Steve Herschbach  question.

It was pointed out to me by my buddy Jim that the AQ runs three different pulse FQ ranges--one for each mode.  These go from highest in A/M (4.02-4.17) to lowest in volcanic. (1.54-1.56).  Tone mode is in the middle at 3.04-3.12.  I've come to recognise that each has its seperate turnng characteristics.  Unlike most detectors--the A/M is easier to tune than  the Tone mode.  With Tone, you have  the "back end" ground noise that warbles in and  out.  If you are overtuned, this will overwhelm your target sounds.  The Tone mode needs to be run closer to preset Gain, with a lower Threshold and Volume.  It also needs a slower sweep speed for deep targets to stand out.  With Tone and Mute, targets sound wider and flatter--especially when you run low delay.  As with any pulse, the low conductor sensitivithy of the low delay settings makes small targets sound bigger.   A setting of 10 uSc or higher makes signals more defined.   So while there are differences between the depth of the A/M and tone modes--the way to reduce this difference is with proper tuning.   As you  increase the Gain in Tone mode, the signal  flattens out--and  target sounds are weaker.   For higher Gain settings, Mute has a lot of potential in that it has no "back end" ground noises.  At the same time it can also be overtuned.   A good way  to become familiar with the responses of the AQ (or any detector) is to start witih the "extreeme" settings and learn to recognize how overtuning sounds in the threshold and target tones.  Oddly enough, athough the REJ control is suppposed  to only be active in tone mode, turning it right down increases the depth.

Still testing this machine--it certainly has a lot of potential.

    cjc

Hi Clive. I do not think this is entirely correct after many hours of conversations with Eric. Maybe shoot him a mail and see if he saved his results. The manual does reference that tone and mute share the same frequencies but that is not correct. Mute and volcanic share the sam frequencies. That leaves AM and tone as the remaining frequencies. I do believe he is off a bit on the tone mode but your example of tuning is correct.
