  1. I agree with that list for the most part but I would not add the garrett edge digger. I found it to be pretty blunt and it didn’t cut a good plug. I’m also a big fan of predator tools, those have always been my favorites. I use the ultra eagle and raptor.
  2. There aren’t many people detecting in my area of Iowa, but if they are they’re usually swinging an Etrac.
  3. Welcome from south central Iowa!
  4. Thanks everyone. I would be hunting in freshwater. I did own a simplex and liked it. So I think this will be a good choice for me.
  5. Hi everyone, I’m thinking of picking up a used multi kruzer. I have a Nox but don’t want to put that thing in the water. I have heard the kruzers are pretty chattery. This would be a backup machine and a water machine and maybe for dense iron trash with a small coil. Is the kruzer still a viable good machine or should I save up a bit and get a used Anfibio? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks dogodog! Too many kids my age just sit inside and do nothing but play video games, they are missing out! Lol
  7. Wow that is awesome. I am also pretty young (14) and I was using a Simplex when I found that! Thanks.
  8. Ah ok. So my next best finds were 2 Seated dimes, around 15 Barber dimes, 2 barber Quarters, an SLQ, a Kennedy Silver Half, and lots of Washington quarters, Rosies, and Mercs. Around 25 Indian Head Pennies too. My best relic this year was a beautiful turn of the century Skeleton Key, and my 2nd oldest coin was an 1843 Seated dime.
  9. Yeah I can’t wait. It snowed 4 inches so I won’t be getting out for a while. Thanks
  10. I went to hunt a local park this morning with my new Etrac. The ground is freezing up here and I wanted to get out before it’s totally frozen. Since I needed 1 more silver to make 100, I went to the oldest park around, from the 1840s. I went out with low expectations, since I know the park has been pounded over the years. After hunting for about an hour and not finding anything I was getting discouraged. As I was about to head back to the car, I got a very deep, VERY iffy high tone. I told myself Hey maybe they missed a rosie or something. So I dug a nice 7 inch plug and in the plug my pinpointer went off: 1 rusty nail. I rechecked the hole and got an even better high tone. I dug down to about 8 or 9 inches and out came another rusty nail. Then the most beautiful 12-45 signal sang into my ears and I eagerly dug down. At 10 and a half inches: Silver coin edge! I carefully took it out of the hole and got out my spray bottle. It seemed oddly thin for a silver quarter. As the dirt came off the coin I could not believe my eyes and yelled “HOLY $!@?” I got a couple of weird looks but I didn’t care. SPANISH SILVER!!!! I threw down my headphones and ran around doing a happy dance. My 100th silver and I could not have asked for a better one. I quickly ran home to clean it. Turns out it’s from the 1730s from the reign of King Philip 5 of Spain! My oldest coin I’ve ever found! What a way to end the year. I could not get any “in situ” pics because I was shaking so bad! But here are some from when I got home. Thanks for looking!
  11. With my Simplex I have dug 11 inch coins with the stock coil. I can only imagine what it would do with the 13 inch coil!
  12. I have the apex and an old ace and the apex arm test is much better, i even had to push it forward a bit. But then again i’m a kid and i’m short so the old ace one was ok for me 🤣
  13. Abenson I got the same problem, iron really cripples the apex and this hybrid audio system is very annoying. I did a test with a dime in between 2 nails and even when im right over the dime barely moving the coil into the iron, the dime is down averaged so much it becomes an iron tone. I can imagine it only gets worse if the dime is under the nails...
  14. Yes i’ve read your post, very honest and true. The falsing is driving me nuts. I may have to contact Garrett.
  15. Couldn’t agree more. I despise the tones on it and the recovery speed is pretty terrible. One thing i’d add is a problem with false signals, i’m really struggling with those and frequency shift doesn’t help.
  16. I had to call 3 times to get an answer and I sent an email before that, no response. Luckily it’s back to working again
  17. I saw this too it’s like it just disappeared out of the blue. Strange
  18. Id love to test a new Nokta in my mild dirt, it will be a great way to test its depth capabilities plus I’d put it on my YouTube channel...
  19. “Ok after 1 hour of use, here is my full comprehensive review.....”
