  1. Yup I think its a keeper!!! GB, your correct. The zincoln's do do break on some weird spots depending on corrosion and ground conditions. The IH's with the 1864 year and bronze make up produce a different tone, VDI wise they are only a couple of points off. Over all my equinox and yours will most definitely react in much different ways, depending on soil and coin or target corrosion. Testing and digging to your liking will always produce results that are much different from our fellow detectors. Basic set up's are a help but they do not guarantee the best performance for all of of our area's. Heck, I usually have to change programs in almost every place I hunt. Granted, I still have hundreds of hours to go figuring this machine out, But judging how the Minelab people designed the equinox I'm pretty sure that drifting far from factory settings is just a big mistake. Other than tone breaks, Tone sounds, recovery speed ( I use 4) and sensitivity (I use 17) From the limited hours I have on this machine, I don't see the need to go crazy. Most people spend more time over complicating programs than finding better places to hunt. All that being said, I really think that the equinox is a game changer (I didn't believe that prior to owning one) In a way that I can not explain. It does things that are much much different than other machines. BUT that will not help if you don't take the time to listen to what it's telling you.

  2. Welcome Johnny T, Glad to have you on board!!! As VL said check your county for property listings and go from there, Also there are some mobile apps that you pay a fee for that will show you the owner just by driving by. As for starting out after permissions, Dig every signal to learn what the machine is telling you. It won't take long to figure it out. Once you hit around the 10 inch mark, You can pretty much figure it's a big chunk of iron or a flattened aluminum can. I wish you all the luck with the new endeavor. And remember ask all the questions you need to, We all will do are best to help you out.

  3. Welcome to the site!!! I would suggest a simplex or maybe a vanquish, Or whatever detector you have or choose, learn it. Most people over complicate the hobby, Just take your time and have fun. You will find out the plus or minuses of your machine to help you in your next purchase. Good luck Brian.

These headphones are not on the Nokta website yet.  Hopefully they will be listed soon,

so we can see the full specs.

Don't hold your breath, you might pass out. They keep posting items with no pricing or critical info. Almost like they are fishing for interest. I not sure about you but I would like to see the new multi before a shovel, hip holster, or head phones. I'm starting to wonder whats going on at Nokta. I think the accessory market is way overloaded with products and not sure why the marketing campaign is going in this direction. How about teasing the new multi?   Garrett Did.

  5. I agree Chuck, No price its free. It's one of my pet peeve's . Makes you want to hit the buy it now button, doesn't it? Oh that's right, you can't because of no price. Seems like a logical way of selling something. I wonder who is in charge of product sales for some of these companies. We have it, but you have to wait and see what we want for it.

  6. I like the carrot quite a bit, But but it does not seem to like damp or wet iron mineralized soil. Sometimes it will pin point forever on a not there target. Here's what I do. Dig the plug and use your detector to focus on the target first. If the target has moved from the hole to the plug your good. if your still getting the same numbers or tone from your detector probe a little deeper and detector check to make sure your not chasing a ghost. If your target is bouncing from different places in the hole then 90% of the time it's a false signal. The carrot is really sensitive to deep large iron and will make you dig 15+ inches chasing crap. Also pushing the carrot hard into the soil will make it false. Do not fall into the trap of pin pointer be all, Use your detector for the answers you seek, and pay attention to the tones and numbers when you pop the first plug. There's to many ground conditions to rely on your pin pointer alone. Digging random crazy signals will help you learn how your detector and pin pointer work together in good and bad soil conditions. But that's no guarantee on finding the treasure. Sometimes we just waste a lot of time digging good sounding stuff, Only to find out it's just another gum wrapper.

  7. For me it depends on what park I'm hunting and what time of year. Some of my parks get a lot of people in the warmer month's, so I usually try to go early and leave by 9:00am. In the cooler months I pretty much roll in around 11:00am and hunt the rest of the day. It will take a little time to get all of your parks schedules figured out. One thing I do is check and see if the park has an online calendar to see if they have scheduled events for the month. Nobody wants to start hunting and find out a soccer game is starting on the field your in.

As for the rainy day hunts I just don't bother unless it's a one time only hunt. I'm not a big fan of digging mud and getting soaked.
