Solar Charger For GPX 5000.. Will It Work?
dogodog replied to Erik Oostra's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
I wouldn't cut the usb cable on the nox. Just get a conversion adapter for your solar controller. $20 to $50 US. They make all kinds. Just do the old google search. Instead of solar, I use a charger called a topvision. You can charge a detector and jump start a 9 liter diesel with this little item. roughly 9 cm x 20 cm its usb charge powered. Very handy out in the bush, nobody likes a dead battery 400 km from the nearest town. I wouldn't try and mod your idea, just get the needed accessories to fit your solar needs. I've learned this the hard way many times. -
Solar Charger For GPX 5000.. Will It Work?
dogodog replied to Erik Oostra's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
If the output voltage is the same as your 4wd 12v system, I think you will be OK. Check it with a multi meter before you roast your detector. Sometimes these solar panels have more voltage output, and can cause failure to batteries and computer chips. It's not so much the panel but the controller. Go slow and test first on something you don't have too much money invested in. Good Luck -
Great find my friend!!! Some of my best finds are from the blind Squirrel method. It's my favorite way to hunt HaHa

Thought For New Finds Contest Forum
dogodog replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Maybe we can do this, We all can enter the contest (Or Not) for the best find of the month by donating say $10.00 (Or what ever Steve decides). Also less money out of Steve's pocket. Now that will cut down on the BS and act as a kind of lottery (not going to the person but the charity). The member gets the credit but not any out of pocket losses for his or her finds, Just the said amount to join the contest. So if you don't ante up the $ you are not part of the contest. (sound Fare?) We can do this through paypal, Venmo ect. It's kind of like the lottery, but for the charity and not the forum member. Also allow members to donate to the picked charity without entering the contest, with a link to the winners charity. This way we allow each member puts their money where their finds are, so to speak. Lets just make this simple and fun to help other people than ourselves!!! Plus we can have bragging rights to some of the great finds we see here at DP almost every day. Also, Maybe ? We can have the #1 charitable donations winner of the year receive a GPZ7000 (just kidding HaHa) Some kind of special award or gift from a MFG. Or better yet a detecting lesson from Steve!!! I'm in whatever the process. -
Keepers coming, That's a nice bag o loot. Rings look great and the 42 quarter is a nice little find as well. good job.

Found a rare undetected park this weekend (I'm assuming). It was started in the late 20's. The first day,Saturday was 36 degrees and windy. My buddy with the nox 800, found around $5.00 in clad and a 37 merc. and a 1940 WL 1/2 dollar. I hit nothing but clad about $4.00. Sunday was way colder, but a way better day for finds. My buddy again hit up on 3 merc's and a small silver ring. I redeemed myself by finding a 1918 merc a 1959 rosevelt and a 1964 Kennedy 1/2. I also found a lone buffie, (my first one in years), game galaxy token, $3.50 in clad and what I believe to be an Oldsmobile key ring ? Not sure of the era on this, but it has a serial # on the back. Seems to be made from brass. Very cool find I think. We stopped digging penny's within the first hour, this place was filthy with them. I'm looking forward to some more good finds here soon, because we only hunted an acre out of about 30.

Light Weight Foot Digger In The Works
dogodog replied to kac's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Looks good, but thinking your hand digger handle design would be great. If it is as tough as the hand digger I'm in !!! -
XP does make THE best shaft design on the planet. Then again I love the S shaft design, whether or not on a Tesoro, Nokta or the XP. It just seems like it's more comfortable than a straight shaft to me. I wish I could mod my MK to a collapsible shaft like the XP, But I'm 6'4 and most detectors even with an extension barely fit me. Gary has some great video's on YT and explains really well to the novice and seasoned detector how things work. I also like the fact that he has his pup running around with him.

JCR, Hit the nail on the head, early 20's to 30's. If you can clean it up a little it still might work. They were not only used for automobiles but the large quantity of bicycles around that time frame. Nice job that's a cool find.

Hello, I used the send inquiry tab at the bottom of the screen for the pin pointer holster. If that's not working you should let us know to use a specific email address. We do not have access to the address for the representative that handles that. That being said, please don't tell me to use the info@noktadetectors.com address, Because you do not reply to that one either. If there is another address please inform us all. Thanks

Welcome Shep!!!! Glad your here and hope to see some of the gold finds. Your in good company with many great gold detectors here on this site.

Great find Mitchel!!! I hope those stones are rough diamonds. That would sure make that ring one of a kind. I believe you are correct on the 18c, pretty much the same as 18k. most likely from somewhere in or around Switzerland. Next question is who would ruin a perfectly good pair of needle nose pliers? Ha Ha

Thought For New Finds Contest Forum
dogodog replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
The idea is fantastic. Maybe you could add a link for DP members to up the ante for the winners charity. Thanks Steve -
Glad your here, Looking forward to your input. As you know this place is great.

I already have enough headphones, I cant tell you how many times i grabbed the wrong ones, only to find out when I got to my permission. I do have to agree that most factory units really do not fit your noggin, But Steve I do like the color red Ha Ha. The good news is, we can now color code to our machines.

Georgia, there is no 7x11 super fly, Only a 11x12 It weigh's 6 grams lighter than the NM 9'' concentric coil and about the same as the NM 7x11. This nel coil is super deep and has great separation. I only have been running this for a couple of weeks and have become very impressed.

Any Ideas On What To Sell Stuff Like This For?
dogodog replied to DB1000's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I'm thinking your a lot high. I mean no disrespect by that but, Most people who would buy that stuff would probably be using it for craft items. Which leads me to this thought. I'm not sure if you have any woodworking skills, But maybe you could arrange some of the finds on a nice old barn board and sell it as a decoration/display. In the past I have made coffee tables and framed story boxes. This requires a little more skill to do but you can get much more money for those junk finds. Some ideas attached. Good Luck -
Nice ring!!! Pretty good haul for a few hours. I see the dreaded bobby pin on the bottom left, Man those things can sound really good. Good job.

What's D2 Mode Or, Settings?
dogodog replied to The Georgiadigger's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
JCR, I just did a quick experiment with the Tone break on my Multi Kruzer, WOW what a game changer!!! I dropped the tone break to 4 and it completely eliminated the nails and gave a great tone on good targets. This is going to open a bunch of old sites to new possibilities. That being said, The TID numbers are skewed and dropped about 25 points but the tone is still recognizable. My test was with 4 heavily rusted 18th century nails in a 12 inch square with a colonial copper and a Merc dime in the center, Running the Nel superfly coil. It hit each target solid at 8 inches and the nails were gone. I wish I would have known this sooner. THANKS for posting this little trick, It will really make a difference. -
