  1. Welcome Chip, Looks like you have part of the equation figured out!!! Take your time and learn the machine on (your) time frame, do not rush into crazy settings, it will only get you discouraged. Glad to have you here to share in your experiences.
  2. Kyle, Glad your here on DP!!! Simplex is an awesome machine. Hope you get the down load thing figured out. Looking foward to your finds!!!
  3. Almost two years since the naming contest!!!!!!!!! Maybe they could actually let a user name the product and give them a comp. machine for doing so. I would really like something soon!!! I don't care what the name is!!! I have about 2 month's worth of waiting left in me, before I pull the trigger on another companies product. Some kind of vague hint like the Apex video would be enticing!! I'm running out of hope and I'm begining to wonder if they have anything close to being developed. Not sure what all the cloak and vail BS is all about? Because all the main competitors have showed their hand. I'm sure there will be lot's of excuses why they have not come up to speed, but I'm not buying any of them. Grape Kool- aid is not my favorite, But if I have to do a Jim Jones I will !!!
  4. Simon is correct, server error. leads you to no where. I would love to be excited but I can't at the moment. No info to be excited about. Or maybe the machine is called 403 forbidden/unsecure
  5. Well I can't say enough good things about my Nokta Multi Kruzer. This is a great solid coin machine (sometimes too good). Clad, silver and gold you won't guess at whats under your coil. I've had it for roughly 8 months, And have found around $1100.00 in face value and scrap coins. My second choice would be my lowly Tesoro compadre.
  6. Contact your local historical society and donate to them with the local finds. As for out of state do the same. They will gladly take and document, with your help in describing and where found. As for rings and things like that, It's tough to get more than scrap value, unless you have a lot of time on your hands trying to sell them on flea bay and such. Sometime kids do not make great choices in figuring things out. I had a friend who had an amazing early winchester rifle collection, That was worth in excess of $500K. His children didn't know guns, and after his death sold them all to a local gun shop for $25K thinking they made a pile of money. If you have concern's and love for your finds, Without monetary gain. Please donate them to a museum or historical society. That way future generations will get the same excitment that you have for each item. That's what got me started in my love of American History. Good Luck
  7. Hi Dave welcome to DP!!!, This is a great place to find and get a lot of info and inspiration. Sometime the weird trash is as exciting as the treasure. In the beginning digging all the targets is a useful way to learn the craft. It will also help to go slow and remember the sounds and ID numbers. Glad to have you here to share in the love of this hobby!!!!!
  8. Sometimes you just have to follow your heart!!!! Glad you made the deal, I doub't you will be dissapointed. I find detectors like cars, some are fancy and some are plain. But they all get you where you want to go. Can't wait to see what you find with the new detectors. As for Tennessee I would move there in a heartbeat. It is a beautiful State.
  9. Glad to have here Andy, Lots of great things to participate in at the DP. Looking foward to some of your finds and comments.
  10. Great job on the nugget!!!!!! Whiskey/ Red Meat and Leaving CA. You couldn't have picked a better combo!!! I wish you luck with all that you encounter . Moving stinks but I'm sure you will be much happier. If I lived closer I would bring the meat and the bourbon for one hell of a barbeque!!!!
  11. I'm pretty sure FT is still in the game. Looking at what I posted recently about their finances, they are in good shape. What we all need to do is support some of these companies so we don't end up with just one choice. Sometimes we focus on the newest product and forget how good the older machine was. I still think most of us, still have the dig it all mentality, And thats good. Remember NO company has designed a definite separation between gold, silver and aluminum. When that happens we will have nothing left to find in a few short months. In the mean time just enjoy some of the machines we once thought were the s**t.
  12. Welcome CJ, Tell us a little more about yourself and your favorite items to find. (gold I'm Assuming). What detectors do you have ect. Looking foward to seeing some of your adventures here at DP.
  13. Just measure the hole diameter and you should be able to find a close match. If not, self adhesive velcro works wonders for things like that. Good luck!!!
  14. Great find there TT, I believe that's what's called a puzzle ring. Keep them coming!!
  15. Good finds and it does look plated with a plastic crystal. Acrylic crystals were made around 1916 plus or minus to the modern day.
  16. Glad to see you joined in on the fun Gypsy. Looking forward to hearing some of your adventures in the gold rich area's that you hunt. It's a great place here, Not much drama, But lots of good people and info.
  17. I just wanted to say thanks to Dilek, She went above and beyond to help me. I sent the coil out to the service center today and will update everyone as soon as I hear from them. Even with the glitch in response, I have nothing but great things to say about their machines. I think Nokta has figured out how to make an easy to use and uncomplicated machine with lots of options. The MK in my opinion is the best coin and relic machine made.
  18. Jim, I'm going with you as the best large target dug, unless someone comes up with a huge gold nugget. Thanks for showing that tremendous find. Glad you joined in on this post!!! I find it fun to look at the big stuff we dig that end up to be crap. Your's had a better result.
  19. I would be interested in purchasing one but my guess is they are already allocated to the top collectors. Just a pretty coin you can't buy. If someone does cut one of these loose for sale I bet they will ask between $30,000 and $50,000 USD Maybe way more than that!!! It is an awesome coin. The Perth Mint also minted a 2204.62 pound gold coin in 2012. It measures 31.5 iches in diameter and 4.72 inches thick. What do you guy's think thats worth??????
  20. With that info Tony I would seriously consider a nokta makro simplex + Great machine at a great price point. They are waterproof and come with a 11'' coil which is great for farm and field hunting. Search around and you can find some really good package deals that come with headphone and a pinpointer. Check out some of the UK guy's videos running the simplex + I think you will like it .
  21. Welcome aboard Tony, Glad to have you here!!! I would start out with a middle of the road machine and I think you will be quite happy. No need to spend 500 to 600 quid. So many good machines for around 300 quid. Simplex+ with head phones, Minelab Vanquish 540. There is no need to get caught up in the best of the best stuff, When your just starting out. Learn the basics, Have fun and then move on to a so called better machine. I hope you do well in your choices and enjoy what this hobby has to offer!!!
  22. Maybe you have more pull than I do? Its been now 2 weeks with no reply. Phone calls to the Georgia center go unanswered. Also Nokta needs to give a warranty repair number that I do not have yet. Sending my coil to a person I can not talk to does not give me comfort. Oh and by the way Kickin Dirts referral is not right on or someone would do their job. (like answer the phone)
  23. Those anvils fetch around $7 to $10 a pound where I'm at. Thats a great find!!! The dingo trap is a pretty awesome find, looks pretty old. I used to have one of those silver cross's Now I have AAA
