Love the rings and the story's but I do not do the shark thing. With my luck I would be the guy on the news stating I was the first victim in 75 years (nope)  Looking forward to more and larger.

I agree the chart is a little wonky but it was the best I could come up with. The said enameled piece is actually silver plated. The site is in montco PA. The piece measures 1/2'' X 1 1/2''  I was thinking it came off of an old trophy or some kind of award. 

GB, I'm thinking 1923 to 1964 judging by the little chart I came across. I did find the broken milk glass seal in the hole. As for the tree site, It was farm ground with an 18th century house about 1500 yards away. This was the second old one that came down the first was 233 rings counted.

House was built in 1953, Nothing around or in the root ball hole. I did count around 297 rings on the tree.

Let me start off by saying it's been about 40 days since I last detected. I've had a run of bad luck that started on June 3rd when a bad wind storm  brought down a 90 foot oak tree that hit part of my house. Fixing the damage and sawing up a 50 inch diameter oak was not on my list of things to do, but it got done with the hobby put to pasture for a while. July 4th was my first day out for only an hour and I only found a 1919 wheat penny( I was happy). Between the 10th and the 12th I have about 7 hours swinging. I have been hunting a spot very close to my house and found a couple of cool items. First was a little bronze sleigh bell, not sure that it is, but it looks like one to me. It weigh's 1.04 oz. and is a total of 1 1/4 inches tall. Second was what I think is a 1950's/1960's derringer cap gun. I've never saw one like this. Third was the most interesting to me, it was a weird bronze ingot type of thing. I dug this at close to 14 inches. It looks old and weigh's 4 1/2 0z. Almost looks like it was cast in creek sand/gravel. Anybody that has a guess let me know, this was a 18th century site that has been turned into a camp. Last but not least was all the modern coins an a bunch of trash, I was never so glad to dig trash after that much time away from detecting. I'm quite proud of my trash that's why I took a wonderful photo, Ha Ha. Oh and I forgot to mention the murderous 4 Raccoon's that killed my chicken's, went from 13 to 1 1/2 in one night. I sure hope the 1/2 chicken survives, she's badly wounded. good news is only 2 raccoons left. Hope you guy's enjoy looking, not as good as some of my finds but I was quite happy with only 7 hours out. Sometimes finding junk can still put a smile on your face !!!!

I've sweated my ass off for way less than that, I consider that a pretty great day out. Great finds my friend. Looking forward to the cool day finds, On the east coast that may be December!!!

Welcome DF, I'm suffering from the same heat and humidity here in PA. You made a great choice with DP, if you can't find answers here they don't exist Ha Ha. There are so many great people on board here to answer questions and give advice you will not be disappointed. Don't be afraid to post trash and treasure, I always try to post the good and the aluminum (mostly aluminium). Anyhoo really great to have you here!!!

I do not have the simplex but my buddy does, I have the MK and I will tell you that we both suffer from EMI. The biggest culprit's are transformers, power lines not so much. I hunt a couple of great places that make my machine go crazy, especially with the 11 inch coil. Turn down the volume and listen to the hard hits. The machine will overpower the noise and jumpy numbers on good targets. You will hear good solid tones when you go over something good. This will take some time to get used to in the bad areas but I promise you that it works. Be patient and you will be a master of the simplex, they are a great machine. Also pay attention to the sounds your machine makes and not so much the numbers, this will help you find a few more pieces of treasure that you might pass by. good luck and please show us some of your finds.

Great find, I love wheat penny's!!! I managed to get out for an hour on the 4th and found a 1919 wheat, my oldest to date. They will always put a little grin on your face. Keep diggin for more smile's !!!!!

I want to thank all of you guy's for the words of congrats!!! I haven't been looking at posts due to a giant oak tree that hit part of my house during a wind storm. So I've been trying to put everything back in order and hope to have some more time to get out detecting soon. Thanks all
