  1. My two cents on this: I know that it is a great machine, but make sure you can deal with the weight. There is a reason you see people use a harness with those. My favourite machine is a F19, which is pretty light, but even that one will start to get heavy after swinging it for a while.
  2. Thanks, Steve. Glad to hear that, since we only get 3 days of sunshine a year in Western Washington, it would have made for a short hunting season
  3. Do you guys feel a hard case for your machine is necessary for travelling or is it overkill?
  4. Was reading an old thread about using wireless headphones with metal detectors. People were buying a kit from kellyco which enabled you to use wireless headphones. Kellyco has discontinued the kit which tells me either it did not work very well or there were more inexpensive versions available as the technology became more readily accessible. Anybody got any thoughts on this? Good, bad, indifferent?
  5. Hi Guys Any advice on what kind of Headphones to get for a F19, and basic digging equipment. I have a sandscoop coming for the beach. What would i need for parks?
  6. Ok, got a CZ21 and a F19 on the way. Thanks everyone for the input and helpful advice. I'll be looking for headphones for the F19 and some kind of case or carrying bags for the 2 machines. Any advice in those 2 departments would be appreciated.
  7. I especially like the words "bullet proof" when you talk about the CZ-21. I'm going to check that one out. I assume the CZ-21 will work on the black sand beaches that I will encounter in Wa.
  8. Ok, guys. Thanks for all the answers and help. Looks like I may be able to save a lot of money, using the advice I have been getting here. I'm thinking I may go with the suggestion of getting 2 less expensive models as suggested. The excaliber seems to be the front runner on the beach. Comparing it to the Fisher CZ-21, any thoughts? Steve, I noticed you have 2 Fisher models for sale, going to check them out. Thanks again for all the advice
  9. Hi Tom, Thanks for your response. I dont think weight will be an issue for me, I'm fairly fit and strong and I guess worst case I could use some kind of harness. Probably technical enough to figure things out, although from what I have seen on videos on the CTX 3030, i was inclined to think it has more options than I would need. I only brought the Deus up after I talked to a salesman today that was very high on it, and seemed to think that it would be great on the beach, parks and prospecting (of course he was a salesman afterall ) In your opinion what don't you like about it that would make it unsuitable for sand and surf. Have you had any experience using it in mineralized (black) sand (which is where I will be using it)? Thanks for your help.
  10. How do you guys feel about the XP Deus machines? I was talking to a guy on the phone today about an ATX he had in stock but he was pretty fired up about the Deus. Maybe he was trying to sell me both
  11. Thanks for all the help so far. Anybody have opinions on what would ballpark fair pricing be on a used ATX and CTX 3030.
  12. Hi Guys New to the forum and metal detecting. Trying to make a decision between the 3 detectors mentioned above. I'm going to be doing most of my detecting on the Northwest beaches. I will also be doing some park hunting and then once a year prospecting in Arizona. I may try a little prospecting in the Northwest too if I find extra time. Initially thought the Excalibur was the way to go, but then after reading posts on several forums I'm starting to have doubts about its durability. I'm leaning towards the ATX at this point, but would like to get some final input on these 3 machines before I make a final decision. Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated.
