  1. Ridge Runner I'm using the 5.2" coil and it seems to work better than the 11.2" on small gold..

Bottom line on this machine is I'm a newbie to metal detecting and and honestly only know the basics about hunting gold by this method and I'm finding gold with a machine that I have owned less than 2 weeks....that's the impressive part...that's all I can say about it...

  2. Went yesterday up to an old mining pit that has been worked to death by people in the past...I also had been there with my GB2 and had a rough time cause the ground was so hot.I also hit the same area with an AT GOLD and had no luck ...well yesterday with my Nokta that wasn't the case....got 8 Lil nuggies...I'm loving the ease of this machine ...i ran this machine in BST mode ..sensitivity on 83 and the I.D. masking ste on 5...I got a lot of ground noise but the target signals were very clear...even the real low target signal was low but clear of it hitting a target...one piece is .7grain and was about 3" deep... every hr I hunt with this machine I learn something new about it and its potential as being an awesome machine for any beginner as well as the experienced hunters...

  3. Well as most of y'all know I bought new Nokta Fors Gold alittle over a week ago... The more I use this machine the more I'm impressed with it... Well after about 40 hrs on this machine I finally found a piece of gold with it... I was using the little sniper coil and after 2 hrs of finding every lead shot weight and fish hook in the bedrock along the bank of the Trinity river I was about to call the lunch bell when I got a hit that sounded similar to the lead but had a slight high pitched crackle sound (hard to explain) the target i.d. was 44 on the first swipe then 45 on the second...needless to say my pick went into action and went to town on the bedrock and after 8-10 swings of the pick I moved enough bedrock to wear I was actually able to see it wedged in there...
Yup this dude was happy as a puppy born with 2 lil peters...lol lol lol
I was impressed that this machine with only 15khz was able to hit on a piece so small..

  5. Art,

What size U-Haul do u have????

That's a lot of stuff...but I'm sure one use of any one item paid for itself...

I just carry a roll of gorilla tape along with plenty of water ..extra batteries...and an extra coil ..oh and a lighter.... All in one day pack...

  6. Yeah Deathray I'll keep u posted on it opening....and I can show u some of the old hydraulic pits..do alittle mining ...yeah my wife and kids don't do to much mining ..they hate it but love fishing....

  7. Well just got back from a nice 6 hr day...didn't find any gold but had an awesome time playing with my new machine..my buddy beat me with his gb2 and found 2 sub grain pieces...the ground was hot and this machine loved it..did dig some targets ..a bullet...a few nails and one sliver of brass...being new at metal detecting I'm still learning the difference between ground noise and targets..although the Fors gold gives me the positive sound of a target and I liked how the handle vibrated on targets but didn't on hot rocks of the same reading..that was interesting and kind of a neat feature...even though I haven't found any gold with this machine yet I am kinda impressed with my progress on this machine...oh and the battery life is amazing... I use duracel rechargables and the batteries are still at full charge after 16 hrs of use between 2 days...

  8. We stayed there last yr with a 26' motorhome and had more than enough room... Each spot is paved and has a pretty good fire pit and picnic table area along with a bear box... The fishing was excellent last yr...there are places to mine both metal detect along with sluicing.. Panning and sniping...found a half gram nugget sniping...I'll have to check and see when they open this season I do know they close Oct. 31...its pretty respected and the camp host (Tom) keeps the riff Raff out...

    I'll keep yall posted...

  9. Fishing is excellent as far as camping trailers... We were there in our 26' motorhome and had loads of room .. Its all paved spots and roads.. Clean up to date showers and restrooms... camp host..and if u have an access card its 1/2 price... Right on the river and has some places there to pan and sluice and MD... I'll check to see when its open..

  10. Well my 1 day update... This machine is very easy to use... Didn't find any gold but did find 2 pieces of birdshot(about an inch deep)...1 staple(2maybe 3" deep)...a fish wieght(wedged about an inch into a bedrock crack)that I thought was gold until I retrieved it...I put about 10 hrs on this machine and used the small sniping coil...it was pretty sensitive... I put a flake that wouldn't register a grain about 2 inches in the ground and it hit on it with the sensitivity set at 70 in gen setting...I put a 3 grain about 6" down in the ground and it hit on it in boost mode with the sensitivity at 70 in boost mode ...how in my opinion does it compare to my gb2... It doesn't.... Actually the only plus is it is very easy to use compared to the gb2... I'm going out today on some pretty hot ground that my gb2 is a nightmare on... will let u know the outcome... I do like the machine ...its fun to use and I like not having to ground balance constantly... But with 10 hrs on this machine and me being a beginner no telling what I could be doing wrong if anything...I'm more than sure that when I learn this machine to its potential it will no doubt prove to be a nice add to my now 2 collection of machines...thnx Steve for ur awesome advice ..

  11. I think mineral bar is alittle pricey ..$28 a night nothing xtra but a vaulted toilet but cleaner...

Tvanho...you'll know the tweekers when u see em... They look like army ants and some will be mining at night with car headlights on trees connected to a car battery... Gods honest truth ..seen 3 of em at the Bear last yr... That place stays packed ..especially on weekends...and the water has gotten pretty slimy ... I gotta say that I've done real good on the bear the past 3 yrs sniping have gotten some nice DWT pieces out of there hiking up river about a mile...

We have a nice campground close to my house ..its a blm campground in Douglas City with a hot shower(one of the few) flush toilets and running water..its right on the trinity and its only $10 a night and lots of metal detecting areas up here in trinity county ...bad thing is its not open till the end of may but its real nice
