  1. Sent it into Minelab under warranty. It took three weeks, I now have a brand new coil. Happy days.....
  2. Good eating too ... ask any of the Yamatji mob here. Throughout the Murchison area we call them Bungarra's. They dig decent holes to live in - it is usually a good sign if prospecting as they seem to coincide with faults. Again I stress - Far north Queensland is where the gold is .... nothing to see in WA ...... move along Cheers BB
  3. Thanks JP. Just wondering what the average turnaround time is with sending the coil back (in your experience). We have been hanging on until the 19 but I'm afraid I might wrap it around a tree before then. A mate sent back a dodgy WM12 and it took 5 weeks to get it back - Ouch! Cheers BB
  4. I am sure it will end well Steve. I was just interested to see if anbody else has had the problem. Out of interest, how many 7000 users collapse the machine to pack it away? I only started doing this 3 or so months ago. If you can imagine jumping in and out of the car possibly 10 times and extending/collapsing the shaft every time I am wondering if the problem may lay in the wiring and not the coil itself. I would guess we extend/collapse the machine on average around 30-40 times every fortnight. Just a thought......... Cheers BB
  5. If I were you Paul I'd forget about going to Western Australia. Steve was here in 2011 and he hoovered the joint. Meekatharra has never been the same. There was a nice 145 ouncer found recently in Victoria's golden triangle. I hope it was found by a west aussie while all the bloody victorians were over here chaining every inch of the place. FNQ is also chockers with gold..... East mate, east is where it is all happening ...... forget about WA.....
  6. Thanks Chris. Yes tried all that and have tried it on a mates 7000. The problem follows the coil. Settings are usually 4 to 9 on sensitivity. Mode changes nothing. This is also one of the first 7000's bought the day it came out. Cheers BB
  7. G'day all. My 14 inch coil has been playing up for awhile. Basically any knock or even feathering of grass gives off a false signal. Don't get me wrong it is still usuable and I'm still finding gold but it is super frustrating. You cannot go under trees or into grassy areas. My mate has been putting up with it for more than 6 months. My advice to him was harden up girlfriend and then it happen to me ..... kharma. Anybody else having this issue? We would have sent them in to Minelab but being unsure of the turnaround time (guessing 3 weeks) we have been waiting for the 19 inch but that is months away....... Cheers BB
  8. A tragedy. My 14 inch has been playing up for awhile - falsing on the slightest touch. Was waiting for the 19 so I could send the 14 in for repairs. I'm still finding gold but it does make it more difficult and painfull. November is a long way away........ BB
  9. If this show encourages Todd Hoffman to come here - I'm leaving.
  10. It's mid July and still no news on when this is coming. C'mon Minelab please give us a date so we can plan around it ...... Nothing worse than going out for two weeks and then have it released when you are 800 km's from nowhere. JP is probably still out there "cleaning up", or should I say "field testing" - noice.......
  11. He's our newest member of parliment ...... I'd like to see him after a few frothies.
  12. There's actually no need to go to Queensland Paul - they are all over here. I was working in Meeka and Cue yesterday and bugger me every vehicle was a bloody Queenslander with a trailer. Talk about mexicans ....... Ahh Norvic, the curse of the third gear. I had to drive mine into something (tree, mound, someone's wall) to bump her out of third. This was no probs in the bush - a bit of a sight in town. I drove it for two years strategically missing third. Memories .....
  13. Paul, have you thought of possibly doing some remote area nursing in a locum capacity. You have plenty of time to research this.We have all sorts over here in WA that come and go through the small nursing posts, all in gold country. I don't know how that works over there with the banana benders .... Just a thought Cheers BB
  14. I have had it twice. Then I just went to an S shaft and rigged the ground balance switch as in the picture. Problem solved and rock solid. Cheers BB
  15. You have Donald - you guys win. Cheers BB
  16. A bloke over here in WA just lost his leg to a shark while surfing this arvo. The shark will be culled because it broke the rules - only tourists, no locals......
  17. All day no problems. The unit powers down after you turn off your detector and tells you how much charge is left - nifty. The main reason my mate and I bought one was for the wireless capability. The excellent battery was a bonus. I have not heard anything bad about them. My 2 cents Cheers BB
  18. Best of both worlds. The battery is excellent and the wireless setup is great too. Yes, I run this on my 5000 worth checking out - https://www.reedsprospecting.com.au/shop/detail/eq-spirit-li-ion-battery/ Cheers BB
  19. Mate, I still have my 5000 and it is a joy to use. The Reeds EQ Spirit wirless battery for the 5000 is the go. No cords, no drama's and a better battery IMHO. I'll consider the evo after the 19 inch for the Zed comes out.
  20. I don't think it's a rookie thing Paul (and now that you've popped your Aussie cherry you are not a rookie anymore). For me it's just continuing on from the from the PI detectors. I love my 5000 and have never used auto tracking ever. I like the to know where the ground changes - it gives up clues on where to target. I need all the help I can get. I also think the Zed is more stable and less chatty in manual GB, give it a whirl. I'm usually holding the quicktrack button for 6 seconds and doing it regularly and when the ground changes. After 10 secs on the quicktrack the all previous ground balance data is lost .... Cheers BB
  21. I'm exclusively in manual GB all the time - and have been pretty much from the beginning. I want to know if the ground is changing under my feet, especially when patch hunting. Of interest - I got out today on ground which was a groaning salty nightmare during summer with the Zed. It was soaked (8mm) and still raining while I was out and to my amazement (puddles of water everywhere) the Zed was much better with this total saturation. I've been to this ground after rain and when it was partially dried or drying and it was groaning ...... interesting. Cheers BB
  22. Get one of these Norvic https://www.reedsprospecting.com.au/shop/detail/eq-spirit-li-ion-battery/ Cheers BB
  23. Well get back out there ..... I'll sit here and wait for the vid. Cheers BB
  24. Nice vid Nenad. Out of curiosity did you happen to throw the 7000 over the targets?? Cheers BB
  25. Greg, mate, we just call it the seven. It has other more colourful names when digging deep ground noise .... Cheers BB
