  1. Good eating too ... ask any of the Yamatji mob here. Throughout the Murchison area we call them Bungarra's. They dig decent holes to live in - it is usually a good sign if prospecting as they seem to coincide with faults.

Again I stress - Far north Queensland is where the gold is .... nothing to see in WA ...... move along

  2. Thanks JP. Just wondering what the average turnaround time is with sending the coil back (in your experience). We have been hanging on until the 19 but I'm afraid I might wrap it around a tree before then. A mate sent back a dodgy WM12 and it took 5 weeks to get it back - Ouch!

  3. I am sure it will end well Steve. I was just interested to see if anbody else has had the problem.

Out of interest, how many 7000 users collapse the machine to pack it away? I only started doing this 3 or so months ago. If you can imagine jumping in and out of the car possibly 10 times and extending/collapsing the shaft every time I am wondering if the problem may lay in the wiring and not the coil itself. I would guess we extend/collapse the machine on average around 30-40 times every fortnight. Just a thought.........

  4. If I were you Paul I'd forget about going to Western Australia. Steve was here in 2011 and he hoovered the joint. Meekatharra has never been the same.

There was a nice 145 ouncer found recently in Victoria's golden triangle. I hope it was found by a west aussie while all the bloody victorians were over here chaining every inch of the place.

FNQ is also chockers with gold.....

East mate, east is where it is all happening ...... forget about WA.....

  5. G'day all. My 14 inch coil has been playing up for awhile. Basically any knock or even feathering of grass gives off a false signal. Don't get me wrong it is still usuable and I'm still finding gold but it is super frustrating. You cannot go under trees or into grassy areas. My mate has been putting up with it for more than 6 months. My advice to him was harden up girlfriend and then it happen to me ..... kharma.

Anybody else having this issue? We would have sent them in to Minelab but being unsure of the turnaround time (guessing 3 weeks) we have been waiting for the 19 inch but that is months away.......

  6. It's mid July and still no news on when this is coming. C'mon Minelab please give us a date so we can plan around it ...... Nothing worse than going out for two weeks and then have it released when you are 800 km's from nowhere.

JP is probably still out there "cleaning up", or should I say "field testing" - noice.......

  7. There's actually no need to go to Queensland Paul - they are all over here. I was working in Meeka and Cue yesterday and bugger me every vehicle was a bloody Queenslander with a trailer. Talk about mexicans .......

Ahh Norvic, the curse of the third gear. I had to drive mine into something (tree, mound, someone's wall) to bump her out of third. This was no probs in the bush - a bit of a sight in town. I drove it for two years strategically missing third. Memories .....

Reading through this, makes me miss the 5000 a bit, the coil options, the settings options but then I remember those trailing cords, being tethered to your detector, nah the Zs the go for me now for sure and after reading BBs post, not sure it`s so insane to use the Z in manual, or are we all insane????? All Steves "fault" for daring to even suggest his insane settings and then publishing them.

Mate, I still have my 5000 and it is a joy to use. The Reeds EQ Spirit wirless battery for the 5000 is the go. No cords, no drama's and a better battery IMHO. I'll consider the evo after the 19 inch for the Zed comes out.

  9. I don't think it's a rookie thing Paul (and now that you've popped your Aussie cherry you are not a rookie anymore). For me it's just continuing on from the from the PI detectors. I love my 5000 and have never used auto tracking ever. I like the to know where the ground changes - it gives up clues on where to target. I need all the help I can get. I also think the Zed is more stable and less chatty in manual GB, give it a whirl. I'm usually holding the quicktrack button for 6 seconds and doing it regularly and when the ground changes. After 10 secs on the quicktrack the all previous ground balance data is lost ....

  10. I'm exclusively in manual GB all the time - and have been pretty much from the beginning. I want to know if the ground is changing under my feet, especially when patch hunting.

Of interest - I got out today on ground which was a groaning salty nightmare during summer with the Zed. It was soaked (8mm) and still raining while I was out and to my amazement (puddles of water everywhere) the Zed was much better with this total saturation. I've been to this ground after rain and when it was partially dried or drying and it was groaning ...... interesting.

    Cheers
