Video - Drones For Gold Prospecting
Bada Bing replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I would like to hear from those using the stiching software to map an area. Any particular standout software? We are off the grid and have no internet access when out there so it would have to be a stand alone software. Any info appreciated Cheers BB -
You will like this then - my safety conscious prospecting mate exclusively wears shorts and thongs all year round ..... Kicks one of the thongs off and kneels on it when retrieving a nuggie. Cheers BB

I've tried for 5 hours to replicate it, the zed performed perfectly - bloody typical. Pm me if you have had this issue and I will email you through a set of tests to run - they are from Minelab. But all was not lost, I picked up a nice half chicken specie (I reckon about 12g). Just have to find the chook shed where it came from..... Cheers BB

Thanks Spencer. I'll let you know what Minelab say.

Steve's Insanely Hot GPZ 7000 Settings
Bada Bing replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Great posts Steve and JP I think by now most serious users are nearly exclusively in normal mode - we certainly are. In the first few months we (like many others) constantly fiddled with modes over targets. In deep compacted clay we saw the power of normal mode very early on. When I saw my mate go 2 + foot down on a signal that said "I'm a nugget" in normal mode, switch to difficult mode to get NO signal at all, we were sold. The GPX 5000 with a 14 inch NF coil only picked up the signal when he was well over a foot down. Enough said. Cheers BB -
Thanks Steve. Cheers

Now I think of it yes It started after the update - didnt think about that .. nice pick up. The 2 modules are great, gotta have a backup. Being 100 km's out of Meekatharra and your module goes down, not cool. I'm not a headphones bloke. Cheers BB

Haven't had a problem at all running the two. This started happening in the last month. I'm out again this week so I will see how it goes. My touchscreen seems to have an increased lag (not much but noticable) which is why I am thinking GPZ software control is the primary problem...... Running two modules is great, gives more complete sound feel with one on each shoulder. Much better if windy, but need to find a sweet spot so you do not blow your ears out going over rubbish.

Complete silence from both. Restart and all good.

Thanks Steve - I forgot to say I have done that. I have been running two modules for a few months now with no problems.

G'day All This has happened five times now. While detecting in normal/general I will switch to difficult mode and then get an audio blank - no sound, nada, niets...... There is always the short audio blank with the change of mode but this one just kills the audio all together....... I have to restart the Zed to get my audio back (audio thru wireless module not headphones). It does beep to confirm that it has changed modes, then deathly silence. Anybody else had this problem? Cheers BB

Nice one 1515Art. Been there done that - I've got reflective tape on the handle....... Early days on the update. Got out yesterday - weather is hot here now (100+ F) so the ground is literally hot. I'm sure this is why I didn't notice the zed in general use being quieter. I expect that given the heat. I was in Mt Magnet at an old patch where the ground is pretty hot (in a mineral sense). I got a nice little 1.3 grammer down about a foot. What I can say is that signal was definite, so much so I said straight away "that's gold, 100% sure". I got a tiny 0.2 grammer as well but the deeper bigger one was a stand out signal (more so than normal imho). I was in normal/general sensitivity on 6, manual tracking. Cheers BB

Very nice. What numbers did it show ???

Are you guys serious..... you're making me laugh now ...... Yes even in Australia we have heard of mittens ...... Septics - gotta love em. Cheers BB
-
WTF are mittens ...... Cheers BB

I don't know about you guys but I have left my pick and walked off on 4 occasions . After the first debacle (took me 1.5 hrs to find), I put a couple of pieces of reflective tape on the shaft ....... magic. I can find the thing day or night. Who would have thought finding a brown thing in a sea of brown things would be so difficult.......... I think something like this should be standard ... but that just might be me ..... Cheers BB

All grain beer brewing ....... yes I am Australian .... Cheers BB

The 7000 Ferrite - Something Different
Bada Bing replied to Bada Bing's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
At least if it is in the coil I can't lose the bloody thing ... apparently they are hard to get The way Minelab are going the touted upgrades for the Zed will be a bunch of coloured rings - the red one is for ground that has a bit of salt and maybe a touch of iron (eg the whole of Western Australian), the green you only use if there has been more than an inch of rain, the purple one is for when you are feeling sad etc etc Cheers BB -
G'day all I can't get out this weekend so I was wondering if there would be someone out there silly enough to give this a go. I was wondering what would happen if you taped the ferret in between the coil and skidplate. I have a small piece if foam there now to dull the noise (as per JP's advice) which does work well. Wondering what would happen if the ferret was there the whole time when detecting ???? Thoughts ???? Cheers BB

While charging in my car yesterday i started to smell plastic. Worked out it was the charger. I felt it and the base was very hot, the battery was mildly warm. Anybody else had this? cheers BB

None of those shenanigans going on down here mate - we just pump it, swing it and penetrate ....... Now there's a prospecting t-shirt Minelab ???? Cheers BB
