  1. I believe there is also a new ACE coil being introduced and a new coil for the ATX as well.
  2. I think you might be a bit mixed up, current units are the 150, 250, and 350. They are bringing out a new 200, 300 and 400 for the US and a 200i, 300i and 400i for the rest of the world where the "I" means international.
  3. Never thought about in the water, have I ever used a pistol grip in the water? Well no, as I don't go in the water.
  4. Both have "S" stems with batteries under the arm. Time and time again detectorists complain about "S" stems, yet manufacturers keep throwing them at us. I always get hand cramps using them, even on the super light Deus. IMOP Whites have one of the best shafts on the market, they have used them on all their top end detectors since the Eagle spectrum right through to the V3i, why would they want to introduce a "S" on this unit. Even Minelab has ditched the "S" stems on all their new machines including the Go Find, why would Whites want to take a step backwards when they all ready have a tried and tested ergonomic design. All ready this new stem is putting me off buying one any I even was thinking how would one put the MX onto a proper Whites shaft.
  5. What I dont understand is the thinking behind the stem design, Explorer and Etrac owners have being complaining for years about that design and then Whites go and copy it?
  6. Wow just imagine the possibilities, I can see why the old firm would not want it coming but, you know what it is coming and if they don't jump on ship sooner rather than later they will be left behind.
  7. LOL dirty hand out in nice dry dessert might be ok but when you are out on a wet winters day in the UK or Ireland up to your neck in mud I don't think so.
  8. Cant see dirty hands and a touch screen being very practical. After translating the web site, it looks like it is not based around using you existing phone, but it looks like they used a phone as the control box and you have to buy it. App phone tech is certainly something we are going to see more of with Minelab all ready going that direction and it looks like XP are going that way as well.
  9. Take a look at this, an app based metal detector, I suppose it was only a matter of time. Don't know if it is any good but sure looks cool http://teslamd.ru/
  10. Yea indeed 2016 could be a very exciting year for new tech in the industry. Fisher, maybe Whites, definitely AKA and not forgetting XP.
  11. I cant take credit for this one, it was one of the French beach lads that passed this on to me and I just shared it here, it is a lot quieter I must say. Another tip he gave me was to rotate the frequency completely anti clockwise but I have not found any advantage to that one.
  12. Steve's post on European detectors is a must read in this regard. Its the ability of the Deus to unmask targets in iron infestation is what makes it stand out over the CTX for relic hunting.
  13. Ireland is slightly different as we just don't have the amount of iron infestation because the Roman's never populated here, also we have a lot less arable farming so the FBS machines are still top dogs with the Deus and AT equal second.
  14. Well XP UK it is good to see you on this forum. For you to say V4 handles bad ground is good enough for me to, not do any thing rash, and sell off my Deus just yet. For me the Deus' achilles' heel was its difficulties with use after ground balancing to lower ground phase soils which was in turn resulted in poor depth in these conditions. If V4 finally addresses this issue, we will all be on to a winner, not only will it has the potential of being a good prospecting machine but also those higher frequencies will love the tiny cut hammered coins and maybe even the fine gold chains on beaches.
  15. My thoughts are that they will have to come up with a miracle with V4 being a good prospecting detector, As it is the Deus cant handle bad ground at all, the thing is seriously chatty on mineralised ground as it is and that is on a lot lower frequencies now. As is you have to reduce sensitivity by a huge amount to get it to work smoothly, greatly reducing depth and considering its no depth monster any how. Do yourselves a favour and wait to see will it work at all. I am actually on my second Deus, after the first one I said never again but I did. Its sitting in the corner now, and I have being wondering will I sell it or not or do I wait for V4? We were hoping for a multi frequency suitable for ground with low phase nos. or maybe the beach but alas not to be. Most of my lands balance in the sixty's and some even lower, below 40 on the F75. It has being a huge anti climax for a lot of European hunters. Might just keep the control box just in case and sell the rest off as a Deus lite.
  16. That an interesting turn around, going from saying the Deus is not for you to getting one, and that's even months before the new coil or software is out, have you being put on the XP payroll or what?
  17. The 14" round open. A bitch to pinpoint but it goes deep, I have dug a Victorian penny at 22". It is sensitive to the smaller bits as well, I have being digging tons of .22 shell casings at reasonable depths, something I never dug many off with the Sovereign. I would love to try an anti interference coil on the TDI on the beach, hopefully someone will come up with one for the especially for a TDI.
  18. The big black box TDI not the pro, modded of course and a 14" razorback mono. I used to adjust the pulse delay up to calm it over black sand but after getting tips from a few French lads I run it flat out now with GB off and select switch in low. The select switch in low makes a big difference with GB off, something I think even Reg has only found out lately.
  19. Since I started using the TDI on the beach, my finds rate has risen about 75% over my Minelab Sovereign. My best year ever was 30 gold pieces in 2013 with the equivalent of 35g of 24k gold as per my avatar. So far this year I have found 39 gold pieces, the difference being I have being finding bigger rings deeper than the Minelab. Those 39 bits have the equivalent of 61.5g of 24k. Those numbers so how much better the TDI has being for me. This amount of gold is not huge in comparison to what some lads get in the US or on the Med but on the east coast of Ireland it is unreal. Not only have I found more gold I also have found by biggest and oldest golds, biggest was an 11g 9k and oldest was an 1810 8.6g buckle ring. I also had my oldest ever beach coin a king George Irish half penny 1720, not old by land standards over here but still 130 years older than ever had on a beach before, and it does not stop there I also had my first ever rose and white gold rings. For the 38 years I have being detecting I never, believe it or not have never forum an Irish Freestate half crown and I have found 3 of them now, on the beach of all places. Its just being a year of firsts and records broken for me on the beach and its all being down to using the TDI. If that is not a success story using a TDI I don't know what is. Oh and to top it all off I had this as well, a 16 century Tudor silver hair pin with gem stone.
  20. LOL I did read it as the Infinium so lord knows why I got the ATX stuck in my head. Agreed the Garretts are probably more suited to prospecting than the TDI due to their sensitivity to the smaller stuff, but they cant be classed as high power PI's. Yes the TDI and Pro have higher voltage batteries but even the SL and SSP throw out about twice as much power as the Garretts and I think the Minelabs throws out about three times, but as you say Its what they do to the received signal that counts.
  21. Good write up Steve but I have to question the following? TDI's use draw more than twice the power as the ATX. The ATX uses about 250 ma/h where as the TDI uses about 500 ma/h.
  22. I have to agree with Steve on this one. I cant understand why they did not separate the coil battery and transmitter from the coil itself. I never understood the idea people have "buy a new coil and you have a new detector thing" when you can only swing one detector at a time. The new coil with its high frequencies sounds good for prospecting but the fact is that the Deus cant handle bad ground and most people just leave it on GB90. Unless V4 has something new with regards to GB on bad ground I just don't see the point of higher frequencies.
  23. The Deus v4 will be interesting to see but the one I am really looking forward to is AKA's new multi frequency unit, the Intronik, they are claiming its deeper than a GPX 5000 with full discrimination. If the AKA Signum is anything to go by it should be one serious machine.
  24. LOL, it took me a while to figure out what you meant, " how do you cut a foot ball lengthwise " oh yes, you lads originally used rugby balls to play football.
