  1. The web of a large Australian spider is so strong it could be used for skin grafts and bulletproof clothing. The golden orb-weaving spider's silk could be up to 100 times tougher than synthetic products used today, according to a research paper by University of Sunshine Coast researcher Genevieve Kerr
  2. I thought you might find this interesting. The Spider is called a Golden Orb Spider that looked like it had a dull greyish body. But when I took some photo's of it using a flash I was amazed how they turned out. This spider was in the process of spinning some insects in it web.
  3. 1st day 9 gramer. 2nd day 22 gramer (19gram cleaned) then 3 more days detecting in this area for a result of 0.02g. Still believe there is more hiding. Might have to chase deeper down the gully and flats.
  4. Good replies everyone. I don't know what is worse getting gold straight away then nothing for rest of the day or getting a bit at end of day and having to wait to go back to detect the spot and then spending a day or two only to discover it was just a loner.
  5. Out Bush with Jane and GH. Pulled up at spot. Turned on detector, tuned it in, walked 4 metres. Got a quiet iffy signal dug down out pops 5.7 gram nugget. Not 12 metres from the car. Couldn't believe it, didn't even video it. What a start to the day. By the end of the day still only the one bit.
  6. Thanks for the replies. It has been a few good outings recently
  7. Great to hear from you. Hope to see you get back here
  8. Hi everyone. Been having some fun with the Zed on the gold lately. Here's some Video's hope you enjoy.
  9. A couple more bits from very quiet is that a signal or not.
  10. Hi thanks for the comments everyone. It's a pity I didn't film right from the start but the signal on top was so quiet and very iffy that I thought it might only be a tiny shot pellet or minute bit of gold at the most. But if I'd filmed the whole dig you might have been amazed at the initial signal compared to the end result.
  11. Hi Steve. I use the 8 inch Detech Mono attached to the 4500. All I can say is it is one hell of a coil stable, sensative and very rugged. Has taken a beating bulldozing it under bushes and debris and banging into rocks and still works like new. Punches deep for it's size and has found plenty of nuggets. Ideal in thick scrub or areas where your swing is limited. Score 10 out of 10.
  12. Good find Golden. I wouldn't be surprised if that has been smelted and cast as the indentation look man made. What was the weight. Wonder if it was a type of gold field currency.
  13. This is what it's all abouts, Good Mates, Good Times and heaps of fun.
  14. Another good dig but l reckon GH took thee points with his dig but l reckon i got close
  15. Con was a Great Mate and l miss him greatly. Talking about the stump, he took that stump and all that was thrown at him in his stride like the true champion he was. So talking about the stump here it is. In memory of the big fella.
  16. Over here in Victoria Australia we have The PMAV an orginisation that has fought tirelessly to keep the goldfields open to detectorists/prospectors and miners. Not only do they have to contend wth the issue of unfilled holes they also have to contend with those that believe all the gold should be theirs and no others should be allowed to enjoy the hobby and unfortunately try to sabotage the good work of the PMAV. They are the ones regardless of regulations will still do what they want where they want. As an example l have a photo from another forum highlighting this issue. It is a well known fact that there are several that believe that the PMAV has created more competition for the gold through there promotion of prospecting. They are the ones who would like to see the goldfields closed for their own benifit.
  17. Hope you had a great day and a great year to follow. Just remember you are just a day older than yesterday and a day younger than tomorrow.
  18. Started of with a quiet signal took a bit of digging to reach target Finaly got it out 1st bit followed by a deeper signal more signals And more signals being nuggety gold bearing quartz And more signals All the quartz is giving of signals and most is yet to be crushed waiting for a rainy day but at this stage its a case off still working out if return for effort will be worth it. Trouble with nuggety gold bearing quartz there can be a lot of digging before the next signal
  19. Hi Steve Good to see your flight across the ditch was nice and smooth. Looking fwd to your posts. Nice lump on hand.
  20. Hey Dave you might have to teach these nice lads the difference between our Codes of Football (Aussie Rules being supreme off course) And the difference between our beers and that sump oil called XXXX . 'lol' Good to see you onboard Cheers.
