  1. Congratulations Joe! Nice find and great setup! Stay safe out there brother!
  2. Sorry to hear of your problem, I had the same code "CD" after using in the water but did not show sign of ingress. Minelab told me to use another coil to test, I did not have a extra coil at the time so they asked me to send coil and control Pod in for service. I shipped both, they replied my Pod was bad and sent me a replacement and my coil back. My CD error code actually disappeared after I did a restart. But then came back with another code and locked up. More than likely your Pod will need to be replaced. Good luck and keep us posted. I do not submerge mine anymore. This is the 2nd one I had to send back don't plan on 3rd.
  3. Glad to receive a email from Whites letting me know Garrett Metal Detectors bought them out. Good direction for Garrett. Love my Whites now i know there is service available if i need it.
  4. Thank Steve! makes me appreciate the $100.00 XLT i purchased in the pawn shop. asking amount was $250.00 but would not power on. While the salesman was busy with another customer i pulled the battery out and saw the corrosion inside the compartment. After i took it home i ordered a new battery for it and found it works like new. When i removed the coil cover it also had sand inside...just a bonus.
  5. Congratulations Chase! that is the wonder of this hobby I enjoy so much, never knowing what you may find and where it is found sometimes becomes a mystery of how it found its way there. We can imagine so many possibilities but we probably will never no the real travel of that coin. Keep searching that area, birds of a feather do flock together. Happy Hunting!
  6. Thanks Chase! That makes sense, I see a lot of beach machines that run the 5khz with the 15khz, such as my Cz20, Cz3d, and I think the new Apex unless I'm mistaken, I suppose those are to make it more stable? If you use a 20khz with a 5khz or even a 4khz would it be less stable, and is the 20khz better for gold? would it be feasible to make a detector that would have several, two frequencies that could be user picked for choice? Such as option one: 5 and 15khz combined and choice two: 4khz with 20khz? my thinking sometimes kind of warped is if 4khz is picking up silver at deeper depth and with 20khz reading gold better then wouldn't both of those combined cover a silver and gold search? You are way more educated in that field than I would ever hope to be, I'm the guy that tries every combination of choices until I find the right combination that gets the job done, not always the most popular sometimes but results are achieved.
  7. Received my EQ 600 back last week from repair service, they did not indicate what the problem was but, stated they tried my coil and their coil to test and determined the problem was in the Pod. (note i was getting a CD code then it would turn off, then i got a CD and ER11 code and would turn off)They stated it has been replaced and tested and submerged for water ingress test, passing all test. Due to work, I have been unable to try it out, they just opened up our county beaches Tuesday so maybe when I'm off Monday or Tuesday I can give it a go! I also found a good deal on a 15" coil brand new, will test it as well. I see they have done the upgrade with the 4khz frequency. That started me to think, if Minelab can upgrade my 600 pod to include 4khz. then doesn't it stand to reason they would be able to upgrade my 600 to include either the 20 khz or 40 khz or both frequencies making it a 800? Both are using the same coils, battery, same housing etc. just programing I would think. When I spoke to them on exchanging my 600 that was defective to a 800 I was informed they do not have a exchange program even if you wanted to pay extra for it. Just thinking if its that easy to install another frequency why isn't the 20khz included if most of us are searching for gold rings at least I am. Then the silver hunters would be happy, ring hunters happy as well..oh forgot then you would not buy a 800. silly me! If I can get out and run a test I will let you know how it goes. Happy hunting everyone enjoy your weekend!
  8. Congratulations on a fantastic find! The gold is there waiting for someone like you to come and claim it. Keep up the nice work!
  9. Thanks Joe for the video! My main beach still closed due to the virus. What the media is not telling anyone is here living on the Texas and Mexico Border is, the hospitals in Mexico are filled with Covid-19 patients and have run out of oxygen. They are letting people that are sick come over and admit themselves to our hospitals. In return our numbers went sky high and wont come down. The hospitals stated by law we cannot refuse service to anyone. Due to my job i am in the emergency rooms where all these sick people are all over the valley and i can see with my own eyes hallways are full, rooms are all full. they have opened up large convention centers it has become so bad. But yet they still let a bingo hall open for business with about 150 to 200 people inside. The people in charge down here have figured out the more sick people the more funding and money that will be thrown at them. Believe me the corruption outdoes the virus 2 to 1. So i cannot hunt my beach so I will have to tag along with you Joe through your videos, hope you dont mind the company. I Promise I Will Not tell anyone the location of your honey holes. Lol Be safe out there in the water and around the virus. That goes for everyone out and about. Happy Hunting to All>
  10. I had that coil it is fantastic, found more rings than ever...but that was back when everyone and their kids were wearing gold lol.
  11. Ridge Runner, your right i do need to find some of our local treasure. Just need a good storm to pull away the heavy sand. Last hurricane it cut access in half unable to drive to location before sand came back. Will try plan "b" next time. The county keeps closing their entry points i need and if you drive across private property, not posted wich is legal in texas they grab you for driving on the dunes. Its not on the dunes its a well used by everyone trail between the dunes. Border patrol uses that trail all the time chasing human smugglers and narcotics runs. Saw a video of a man using one of those parachutes with propellor that would get me there, lol not sure how to carry a chest full of gold bars, lol the location of the singer ranch i think the refuge bought or just claimed it and posted their signs.
  12. Minelab instructed me to send defective coil and pod to: Detector Center 188 Oak Shade Road Alum Bank, PA 15521 Stephen Reed
  13. I sent a email to service having problem with my eq600. they sent back message send in for repair with return authorization number, Detector Service@minelabamericas.com that was today. 877-767-6522
  14. Not sure if im posting on the right forum, correct me if not Steve. Heard on the news last night a jewelry store in Michigan is going out of business and he has hidden all types of valuable coins and jewelry in many places. He stated he is selling a chance to locate them I think entry is $49.00 per chance? He also stated each piece has a gps tracker on it. Hoe does that work? most gps will get you close then you pull out your metal detector or what? Is this like Geo Caching ? On another note was informed the Texas Governor rejected our County Judges request to lock us back up...HURRAAAAY! told Judge just make everyone wear mask...good luck on that. lol. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy weekend and Happy Hunting! Lonnie
  15. Well ever heard of the saying, can't win for loosing? I finally got my two weeks vacation approved, checked all tide charts weather forecast etc. Then the night before my planned hunt, the County Judge closed all county beaches, for exactly, you guessed it two weeks. Because of the high spike in C-19 cases. The city decided to keep their beaches open with restrictions. so my only hope was to get there early hunt before the crowd, scoop up all the treasure and run as fast as possible. First hunt, decided to use the Minilab Eq 600 light weight can hunt sand and water haven't used much since they sent replacement. the first one had a defective on/off switch. fast turnaround great service I commend them on that. used for about 2 hours, then decided to hunt another area. when I got there it gave me a CD Code and would power off. only saw that once before when I forgot to connect the coil. checked coil connection and coil. did a factory reset. no luck. hunt over. took it home set for two days while I did honey do's. checked it and it was working again. kept checking for two more days, trying to finish honey do's.. wife thinks my vacation time means her time..to do her stuff. decided to try again. this time hunted for 3 hours no problem, then it happened hunting the wet sand it gave me a ER 11 Code. did factory reset that worked then the ER 11 came back and shut unit down. would not go past the ER 11Code. could not take spare detector due to vandalism high in the area I hunt. So now I'm in communication with Minelab Technician. to see if I need to send back in again. Don't have any other coils to try. figure that could be the problem. or not. Vacation over did not get to go anymore. planned on going Saturday to city beach again but was informed we might be back in home lockdown again. Starting Friday. County beaches closed till further notice. Will keep you updated on EQ 600 adventure. p.s also asked minilab if I could trade defective unit in for a 800 pod and pay the difference . Stated they do not have any program at this time for upgrades.
  16. Great finds Joe! Looks like they are going to lock us down again starting tomorrow, hope not! People don't think of others just themselves, what kinda kids are we leaving this world to? Keep the videos coming Joe, might be my only entertainment for awhile lol.
  17. Congratulations, Joe is right, my wife would have confiscated that in a heart beat. Exercise that pays with interest, what else can you find that does that?
  18. What is the frequency of the Goldtrax pictured above? I see the other is 4.2 Mhz They both look very nice and would be fun to use.
  19. Thanks Joe D. I guess I kinda snuck in, lol every time I make a comment on other forums it seems someone wants to attack you. Glad Steve keeps this forum going in the friendly direction. I have learned more on forums than I ever did going out and making the same beginner mistakes, year after year. If one person took all the life learned lessons of all the members on these forums and wrote a book. That would be the Holy Bible of Detecting. Get my hint here Steve? There is more knowledge among the seasoned detectorist that will be forgotten if we don't teach the next generation soon. I commend all that take children out and expose them to our wonderful world of detecting. My wife and I would take her sisters children to the beach and place some coins around and let them find them. They never seemed happier. then came the world of cell phones and social media. They traded off metal detecting to be apart of the worlds new breed. Happy Hunting and Stay Safe!
  20. While using my Excalibur II in the surf, it started making strange sounds. I looked around and found no other detector hunters around. Kept hunting then again it started. I started to think my unit was having problems. Then a couple of kids that were close by headed to the shore and in the hand of one of them was a Nokta Makro PulseDive. I asked him if he found anything and he said trash. I told him welcome to the club.
  21. Very Nice Joe! Great birthday gift, Keep up the great work. Being very sensitive is the AQ picking up your scoop when at your side or just when its close. I have noticed when I pumped my excel up and down on a target it would increase the volume some, is this the pumping method you are referring to on the AQ. Did your hunting buddy find anything on that trip? would love to see his finds as well. Happy Hunting Joe Stay Safe and Healthy. Lonnie
  22. Nice job Joe! can you give a ball park figure on battery life while hunting? Also what do you think of the headphones? is it something that can be improved upon? Thanks Joe, Keep up the good work my friend!
  23. I have my cz20 since i bought it new 1995 or around that time. Still working great. Pinpoint button never did impress me much so i never used it. Easy to pinpoint without it. First thing i did was mount on waist, makes hunting lot more fun. I left mine in closet few years and coil cable began to come apart. I used electrical tape and spray liquid tape. Made several coats. Works just like new. If i have anymore problems ill just replace with new wire. Great machine found a lot of rings with it. The battery compartment is independant from main control if it leaks only battery is affected. I use in salt water never gives me falsing, looks like you got great deal. Back then i paid big bucks but it has returned back with interest. Enjoy it Happy Hunting.
