I don't see how the latest updates/improvements and the addition of Beast Mode could detract from the performance in any way. Every update seems to be headed in a good direction. I see no reason to go backward.

Yes. That's what I did. I tested after and could see the on-screen changes.

They call it a Gold/Relic detector but no mention of how it will perform on wet ocean sand. I guess the beach hunters will have to wait until someone buys one and actually tests it on the beach. If waterproofing is the only reason then they are passing up a large percentage of potential buyers. As I've said many times, most beach hunters never submerse the detector and don't require it to be waterproof. Waterproofing adds significantly to the cost. They should give us the choice of waterproof or water resistant.

Yes, IR is a very useful feature. Without it, all metals would sound the same. The problem I was having was with the loudness. Nonferrous was like a quiet little mouse compared to ferrous. The funny thing is I just tried it again and the problem seems to have corrected itself. Now nonferrous is coming through loud and clear. Hopefully the problem is solved.

So far I haven't gotten Beast Mode to show any performance advantage. I have several fringe depth targets in my test garden but Field Mode picks them up better than Beast Mode. I've also been noticing that ferrous signals sound louder than nonferrous signals. Is this normal?

With Beast Mode being a multi-frequency function, I wonder how much the performance depends on the level of mineralization in the ground. Those with mild soil conditions may discover little or no benefit in Beast Mode.

That's pretty much what I experienced. No sound on nonferrous but like I said in my previous post, updating a second time seemed to correct it. I'm going to do some testing today and see how it does.

When I first updated the Legend to 1.14, Beast Mode would only respond to ferrous metals and was completely silent over nonferrous. In other words, it would pick up iron but not coins. After trying everything and using it in the test garden a few times, I decided to update it a second time. This seems to have corrected the problem. Beast Mode responds to all metals but now I'm noticing that ferrous sounds louder than nonferrous. Nails are much louder than coins compared to the other modes. Is this normal? In Park, Field, and Beach, ferrous and nonferrous have an equal loudness but with Beast Mode, nonferrous sounds quieter than the surrounding iron with no apparent way to separately adjust the volumes. Is anyone else experiencing this?

The 15 X 12 SEF was killer on my T2. Added inches more depth over the stock coil. Light and well-balanced too.

I just got a Nokta Accupoint and am very happy with it. Easy to use settings. Full-color screen. I like that it has different sounds for ferrous/nonferrous. BlueTooth is there if you need it or just leave it turned off.

I've been running IF at 0 and ST at 1 in Field mode relic hunting and haven't noticed any drawbacks.

Roots aren't a major problem where I hunt so I go with the rounder blade shapes and lighter weight of the floral shovels. My shovels need to be a minimum of 42 inches long to save my back from having to bend. I also prefer the handle to be made of fiberglass or wood. Metal handles can be cold on the hands in lower temperatures. I forgot to mention my backup, the Ames Floral shovel. I actually prefer this over the Raduis Floral because it's lighter and easier to carry. The only drawback is that it's not unbreakable so I generally don't take it on long hikes where breakage would end the hunt. I've only broken one in 12+ years of using them so the risk of breakage is not high. I bought a Nomad a few years back and didn't like the narrow blade which takes longer to cut a plug and does not scoop dirt well. The big Root Slayer with the wider blade looks nice but it is heavy and expensive. I chose the Floral mainly for its lightness and its ability to cut plugs quickly and efficiently. Tree roots can be a challenge sometimes. Serrated edges would be a nice improvement.

I recently upgraded to the Radius Pro-Lite Floral Shovel and like it very much. Weighs just 3 pounds. I'm 66 years old and sometimes walk a mile or more to get to my sites. When hiking I carry the shovel with my left hand or I put it on top of my detector and carry both with my right hand. When detecting I just carry it by my side or drag it on the ground behind me. I like that the handle is long enough to dig without bending over.

In New Hampshire, I like to find blackberries, black raspberries, raspberries, and blueberries throughout the summer. I often see mushrooms but haven't yet learned to identify them properly. I'm pretty sure I spotted some morels last year but left them where they were.

The eclipse will be passing right over NH so it will be near total where I am. I have no interest in watching the sun and moon. For me, the spectacle is how the twilight's unique shadows affect how everything looks. The landscape and scenery where you will be observing it make a big difference.
