  1. showing my tarsacci foils settings, and how it can detect a 14 k ring under foils , Normally if you had disc on foils you can not hit another target under it but the Tarsacci can . and can be used to great effect in those foils laden sites
  2. I have been testing the salt balance and KHZ on a small gold 14 k ring and a merc dime and a regular white gold ring and some tabs and various foils , and today i took the Tarsacci out to a high school base ball diamond , loaded with foils most of the coins i found had long been in the ground, and i even found a 7" deep 1944 wheat cent , I managed to dig one foil seen in picture, it was 1" deep , but the thing i like about the Tarsacci is it sees thru the foils and hits coins below the foils that you can not hear , yes silent on the foil in the surface and hitting a coin below it . I can not do that with my ORX .If i get a foil signal of 34 and a coin in 2" under it it still comes in at 32 or is masked , i would have to dig the foil but with the Tarsacci the foils are gone and its just seeing thru them and hitting the coins my settings 3 gain and 0 threshold , 44 salt balance, black sand on . and i even cranked it up to 5 gain, and still no digging foils , at 6 gain you may have to introduce a -1 threshold to knock out the foils but its hitting deep on high conductors and 6" to 9" on rings
  3. Ya geezer , I did find the black sand on helps ignor the foils better and lower gain
  4. black sand on or off, I have never done a test as of yet but i will have to check that out and see, I have noticed with Black Sand on the EMI is not as badd, but i also would like to know if it has any other effects
  5. I like using 1 and 2 reactivity on my ORX and in coins fast it kicks but , you just need to get a Gold ring under that coil that s it
  6. thanks fellow diggers, Today i was looking for Gold with the Tarsacci- i worked on some settings for it. and came up with a setting for finding Gold rings wich ignors small foils and yet hits hard on small gold rings, as deep as 8 inches deep , and gets normal size Gold at 8 and 9 inches deep . when i was working out the settings i found the pull tabs where coming in 2 inches deeper than the Gold Rings so i found the sweat spot that actually dropped the depth of the pull tabs and increased the depth of the gold rings so that they now are both comming in at the same depth, this is the setting on the Tarsacci i used for todays hunt , of course i found no Gold but just tabs and some larger can slaw but the small foils Gone , and in a school basseball field that is a big deal , now the tarsacci will not just be silent on the small foils , it will see right thrue then and hit a gold ring and i mean way below the foil Tarsacci Gold ring setting 5 gain, threshold -1 to -3 black sand on , salt balance 47, and using 18khz , and by the way, please share your setting for finding Gold rings.
  7. I was using the ORX and the 9" x35 coil, but any detector could have found it , it was just under the wood chips, but I do find most detectorists will not dig the tabs, & slaw and low conductors. not to mention most rings in wood chip lots are junkers
  8. Was going to go to McCullough park this morning but got behind a school bus ,it was stopping every 10 ft and picking up more kids, so I made a U turn and went in the opposite direction. hit a Tot lot and found 35 cents and moved on to another location, and amidst so much trash up comes what i thought was a junk ring , but later i held it and it was heavy, unlike the junk rings, but i could not read it so when i got home sure it reads 14K and it weighs 6 grams white Gold its was reading in coin fast on my ORX 53.54 . and in coin deep 56-57- right where a lot of heavy foils and slaws read, its been well over 15 years since my last Gold ring find
  9. this morning I got out to a sports field, to look for Gold and i decided to use the Gold 1 program, and it worked very well ,I could tell the iron ,the junk foils, and was digging numbers from 47 and up . I did not find Gold but the way it handled most targets was really great I found the small buckle at 8"+ with a good signal 93-95 the way I had it set up is Gold 1 ground balanced then put it in 15.2 KHZ a reaction speed of only 1 so you need to swing slower but it goes deep , i used a 85 gain and set the IAR to 4 what i like is the iron comes thru with a nice low tone and the aluminum and brass higher tone you have to swing slow or the targets may crackle like Iron , but with the higher KHZ its less likely to crackle on the gold and brass targets . if i was looking for silver i would tray to get the KHZ down to 8,4khz but you will notice that gold and aluminum will tend to crackle more so and the silver will not just remember that and give it a try if you elect
  10. Its cold rainy and windy, and i was going to just forget about going out today, and then a thought came to me If you dont go you will find nothing for sure, So i went out and the 1st target that comes up is this merc dime . Hitting a solid 93 on my ORX i figured it was a cladd quarter but was pleasantly suprized when i seen it was a silver dime Attachments
  11. 1st hunt of the year with my ORX. not much for finds, but how it performed was great , I got into a soccer field and ran it in coin deep .using 75 gain,2 sweep speed. 9.4 KHz and a disc of 23, I dug alot of can slaw and most of it was below 47 and would give erratic numbers , but no small gold came up . I dug all the iron deliberately and could tell it was iron , except the round lid . then i changed spots and hit a old house spot with lots of nails and iron and has been hit hard by me ,so i put the ORX in coin fast 17.2 KHZ sweep speed of 3and and a gain of 85, and much to my supersize it pulled out a shot shell i had missed ,which told me that in the heavy iron it really has an advantage running coin fast , still glad i never sold the ORX its a very capable machine.
  12. give it a little more time , and get more opinions, and give it a try, then if you are not happy with it let it go
  13. yes lots of copper nuggets, hear in the glacial till in Minnesota ,Wisconsin,Michigan, some can be very big , and have silver in them
  14. great results, I like the Gold 1 on my ORX in the glacial gravel, it will pick out copper nuggets with a good signal , that with the lower frequincys,
  15. I found more with my bounty hunter quick draw in the 70,s than my 1750.$ modern state of the art Tarsacci, its a strange thing , back then i had a crap detector but found more silver , and with the best of detectors i find, very little ,we need a detector that can see thru Iron and aluminum to a depth of 24 "
  16. at least the Gold program will kick but in that soil , and use some Iron bias, wish i could see a tarsacci run over that 7" dime
  17. I was thinking of selling mine and getting the D-2. but somthing in me just tells me to wait . Its a good machine , the tarsacci , It handles E,M,I better than any machine I have now or have had, and even when running 6.4khz i would run 12khz more but it does not like my M-4 pinpointer, when going deep i run the 6.4khz and gain at 6 - 7 and the threshold at -1 salt balance at 43 and black sand on , and it just ingores alot of foils
