Like to hear about how some of you Guys and Gals deal with your regions issues… Whether it be Rattlesnakes, Water Moccasins, Thorns, Gators, Cacti, or anything else some of us may have never thought of..

Out Here in Arizona, We have All kinds of FUN stuff to look out for. As the Summer Heat very slowly subsides, Some of us are taking inventory, preparing and beginning to tool up for the Fall Detecting/Prospecting season. Part of that entails Thinking about accidental run ins with Things that poke,Scratch, bite, Kick, sting and even Munch. Being properly prepared to deal with such encounters is pretty important, especially when your attention is focused elsewhere (like on your Tones and coils). Now, a decent pair of Gaiters and some Thick Boots is a Terrific Start. A pair of nice fitting Knee pads are a definite plus in the Gravel laden washes and Rocky foothills. Also, In My opinion, a wide, over the shoulder pick(instead of a shovel) Makes recovery much easier and Quicker. Plus, if you aren’t “carrying”,  it really helps your odds in Those Chance Wildlife encounters..(Bobcats, Ferrel coyotes, Big Foots😉 and more)..

Anyway..Just wanted to start this up as I’m sure there are some things many of us could learn about or just may have overlooked..

Sure Hope that I posted this in the Correct spot. 🤙🏻

I have been nugget detecting in the AZ. deserts for 45 years and have never been threatened by a coyote, bobcat or even bigfoot. As for snakes, if you can't jump out of the way faster than you can get your digger or  357 out and aim & shoot then u should stay home in your rocking chair. mho

I was detecting some old mining piles that were pushed around years ago and was able to score I really nice chunky Gold Specimen with the Axiom.

Some after pics of the quick spit washed showed a nice find for my efforts.

I’ve said in the past and that’s Gerry is going to lose that nugget to the great beyond one day and when that happens I don’t want to be in a radius of 5 miles when it sees daylight again.

That video was like being there and I wanted to tell you to get out of the way because you’re not digging fast enough.

     The Best Always!

I can't figure Fisher out. High level, the CZ line is going down or dead. The tech is old and outdated. I'm not sure what they are doing with the AQ. Their website hasn't been updated in years.

On the low end, I think bounty hunter is profitable and making them a lot of $. Amazon says 3k+ bounty hunter tracker IVs sold in last month alone.

But fisher needs to do something. They should have improved the CZ line when minelab came out with the CTX then equinox but they did nothing. CZ's were awesome. I had the CZ21. Beast of the machine that was just as good as my Excal and was indestructible...heavy too

    Too heavy too.

I appreciate the confidence and yes I'm quite skilled on a variety of detectors as many of you know it's a passion thing I've been doing for 50 yrs.

What I find interesting about this whole thing is Minelab wanting to charge the people.  If this was a metal detector dealer or club and they were putting on an Open Hunt with prizes, then yes it's been going on for years.  But a detector manufacture doing it just doesn't sit well with me.  Hey, I'm just one guy who is going off of past experiences in my 50 yrs swinging and when I used to run the circuit of Hunts in the NW back in the 80's and 90s.  I get it, times change.  Just like Big Box Stores selling detectors.  Heck at one time my Dealer Contract protected me from such.

Well things certainly do change and so who knows, maybe this is something that will be come normal.

One thing that's interesting is they left out the Western States and the Prospectors, but yet they call the contest "Masters of Metal".  I guess Gold Nuggets are not metal?  Interesting title though.

This is akin to the first m.d. contest I attended back around 196? put on by D Tex detectors and Bill Mahan. Only D Tex won .
