Where you find gold in caliche you can also find magnetite and black sand which will affect detector preformance.

"Another big difference, the GM1000 is (almost) available now. The CZX has not appeared."
Exactly.

It seems like Fishers CZX has been made by ML, its called a Gold Monster 1000.

I think it would be great for patch hunting, I could swing it ALL day , cover a lot of ground and still have a arm for tomorrow.

J1962 Detectron then a Metrotech then a step backward with a Whites BFO Goldmaster..
I also build several Little Monster BFOs from the plans in KVMs book The Treasure Hunters Manual # 2.

Back when D Tex said their detector could detect a dollar bill because the ink having metal in it.
At that time I was swinging a White's BFO detector.
Chuck
I was in Oklahoma around 196? and Bill Mahan was demostrating the paper money detecting ability of his D Tex detectors. They did produce a weak signal at very close distance, not sure if it was the paper money or the BS that was detected. I was also using a Whites BFO at that time

I had one of those Garretts, back then I was more gullible and believed a lot of the advertising. About 4" on a coin if I remember correctly. Someone told me the word "gullible" wasn't in the dictionary and I believed him.LOL

I too think that Minelab detectors has been higher than a cats back. Now you take the guy that is out there finding gold everyday he too will say the same. The difference is he's finding gold and you and I keep coming up short..
For what I've spent on detectors I could own about two of the 7000 but my trouble is I don't live in gold country. Again Minelab is too high in price but put me downunder and I won't ,leave home without my 7000.
Good thing about all of this is I can buy what I want and in the ;past I've done it. My first Minelab was 17000 next Extreme next 3500 next 4500 next 2300 but now I own none.. I didn't list the Minelab Coin detectors I've had.but still have one. Of all things it's a GO Find 60.
Chuck
I don't feel that I have come up short and I do own a ML and have done well with them, since the first 2100, I just think they are way too heavy and over priced.

Minelab just as well take on all or most detector companies being so many now can hold data in one way are another.
When Minelab drop the price of their high end detectors it said that sales how to be down. By doing it that gave then a shot in the arm that was in bad needed.
I myself think Minelab is a great detector company but I do believe by going after another great detector company could hurt them more than time can heal.
Chuck
Although I believe ML makes a good heavyweight detector, I think they are a rip off and unscrupulous company.JMPO

Check out what gold has been found with a Minelab GPX 4500 compared to a Garrett ATX you may change your mind very quickly to a Minelab GPX. Happy Hunting!
I don't own either one, but there are a LOTS more 4500s out there than there are ATXs. Thats not a fair comparison, even tho the 4500 is probably a better detector.

I disagree, everyone is entilted to an opinion and the right to express it. I like the Monster but that dosen't mean every one has to.
